Product Overview
Dr. Brown's Nipple Shields are designed to assist with breastfeeding and are available in 20 mm and 24 mm sizes. The product includes a sterilizer case for hygienic storage and preparation.
Usage Recommendations
Nipple shields should be used under the guidance of a medical professional or lactation consultant.
Preparation and Sterilization
Before first use and after every use:
- Wash nipple shields in warm, soapy water.
- Rinse thoroughly.
- Sterilize the shields.
- Air dry the shields.
Sterilizing with the Case:
⚠️ WARNING! The sterilizer case and water will be HOT after microwaving. Use caution.
- Place the nipple shields on the holders inside the sterilizer case.
- Add water up to the fill line (approximately 7 tsp / 35 mL).
- Close the lid securely.
- Microwave the case using a 700-1250 watt microwave for 3 minutes and 30 seconds.
- Carefully remove the sterilizer from the microwave.
- Drain the water from both ends of the case.
- Open the lid and allow the shields to cool for 5 minutes.
- Wipe out any remaining water before closing the lid for storage.
How to Use Nipple Shields
Check Orientation: Ensure the nipple shield is not inside out. The Dr. Brown's logo should be visible and correctly oriented when viewed from the outside.

Application: Center the holes of the nipple shield over your nipple. Gently stretch the nipple shield and apply it to your breast.

Adhesion (Optional): If needed, apply a very small amount of nipple balm to the inside wings of the shield to help it adhere to the skin.

During Feeding: Once feeding begins, you may need to rotate the shield to ensure the baby's nose is not obstructed and to maximize skin-to-skin contact.
