Dr. Brown's Deluxe Bottle Sterilizer

Model AC045

This manual provides instructions for the safe and effective use of the Dr. Brown's Deluxe Bottle Sterilizer.

Important Safeguards

When using electrical appliances, always follow basic safety precautions to reduce the risk of fire, electric shock, and injury:

Parts Identification

Diagrams illustrate optimal placement of narrow and wide-neck bottles, reservoirs, nipples, collars, inserts, and pacifiers/soothers within the sterilizer trays. For specific arrangements, refer to figures showing placement for narrow and wide-neck bottle components.

How to Use

  1. Ensure all bottles, bottle parts, and accessories are clean, washed, rinsed, and empty before use.
  2. Position the appliance on a flat surface, out of reach of children, where it cannot be knocked over or moved during operation. Remove the tray.
  3. Remove the measuring cup and tongs from the unit.
  4. Fill the measuring cup to the FILL LINE (3 oz/80 mL) with DISTILLED WATER and pour the water onto the HEATING PLATE. Note: For best performance, use recommended water and descale monthly. Mineralized water may shorten the appliance's life.
  5. CAUTION: DO NOT EXCEED the recommended amount of water. If draining water from the base, always POUR AWAY FROM YOU.
  6. Place the removable tray (H) in the sterilizer heating chamber. Arrange bottles and other parts in the tray.
  7. Close the main cover (B) and arrange parts on the upper tray (C) as shown in placement diagrams. This appliance can sterilize items that withstand boiling water, such as pacifiers, teethers, toys, and utensils.
  8. Close the top cover (A).
  9. Plug the power cord into an electrical outlet and press the ON/OFF button (E). The cycle indicator lights (G) will illuminate in a RED-BLUE-GREEN sequence, then the green "READY" light will remain on.
  10. To start sterilization, press the Cycle Start button (F) when the green "READY" light is on.
  11. Heat Cycle: The RED light indicates heating. This cycle takes approximately 8 minutes, but may vary.
  12. Cool Down Cycle: The BLUE light indicates cooling. If water was forgotten, the unit must complete this cycle before starting a new heat cycle.
  13. READY (unload) Cycle: The GREEN light indicates the unit is ready for unloading.
  14. Open the main cover and carefully remove all bottles and parts. Place them on a flat surface. Reassemble bottles with their components.
  15. CAUTION: After sterilizing, wait 10 minutes for parts to cool. Open the top cover carefully, being mindful of residual steam. Avoid spilling or splashing water.
  16. To turn off the unit, press the ON/OFF button (E). You can start another cycle after adding 3 oz/80 mL of water.

Cleaning and Maintenance

CAUTION: Unplug and allow to cool for 60 minutes before cleaning and descaling. DO NOT IMMERSE IN WATER.

Appliance Cleaning

The Dr. Brown's Natural Flow Deluxe Bottle Sterilizer should be cleaned at least once a week with regular use.

Heating Plate Descaling

Mineral deposits may form on the heating plate. Descale every 4 weeks for proper function.

  1. Unplug the device and remove the tray.
  2. Prepare a descaling mixture: Fill the measuring cup to the FILL LINE (3 oz/80 mL) with white vinegar. Add cold water up to the dashed line (0.5 oz/20 mL) for a total of 3.5 oz/100 mL.
  3. Pour the mixture directly over the heating element.
  4. Turn the unit on and run a sterilization cycle.
  5. Empty any remaining solution and rinse with clean water.

NOTE: DO NOT USE BLEACH, HARSH ABRASIVES, OR SOLVENTS on the heating chamber or elements, as this may cause permanent damage and void the warranty.
