Planning and Electrical Requirements

Planning Information

Follow all minimum clearances to combustible surfaces as shown in the illustrations. For 48-inch models, two separate electrical supplies are required. Position receptacles with grounds facing each other to prevent cord interference.

Diagram 8: Illustration of two electrical outlets with grounding connections, demonstrating the requirement for separate electrical supplies for 48-inch models.

Electrical Requirements

Installation must comply with all applicable electrical codes. Locate the electrical supply flush with the wall or floor. A separate circuit servicing only this appliance is required. If a power supply cord is used, it must be rated for 240 V, 50 amps, and include 3 or 4 conductors. A 4-conductor cord is required for installations where grounding through the neutral is prohibited. Performance may be compromised if the electrical supply is less than 240 volts. IMPORTANT NOTE: Two separate electrical services are required for 48-inch models.

Electrical Requirements:

*Note: Two services are required for 48-inch models.

Installation

Diagram 10: Installation diagram detailing clearances. The side view shows 13 inches (330 mm) clearance to combustible surfaces, 18 inches (457 mm) to the bottom of a ventilation hood, and 6 inches (152 mm) to the rear. The electrical connection point is marked. The front view shows the opening width (W) and depth (A), with 8 1/2 inches (216 mm) clearance to the rear wall above the countertop. Shaded areas above the countertop indicate minimum clearance to combustible surfaces, prohibiting combustible materials.

Range TypeOpening Width (W)Depth (A)
30" Range30" (762 mm)10 1/4" (260 mm)
36" Range36" (914 mm)16 1/4" (413 mm)
48" Range48" (1219 mm)18 1/4" (464 mm)

For island installation, a 12-inch (305 mm) minimum clearance is required from the back of the range to the combustible rear wall above the countertop.

Without a ventilation hood, a 36-inch (914 mm) minimum clearance is required from the countertop to combustible materials.
