Preliminary/Radio Removal

CAUTION: Before proceeding with the installation, disconnect your vehicle's negative battery cable to prevent any possible electrical system damage.

Radio Removal

Refer to your individual car disassembly/installation instructions (see Table of Contents) for complete factory radio removal.

Stereo Installation

This section details the stereo installation process for various Ford and Mercury vehicles using the Scosche FD1445 kit. The kit includes components such as a mounting sleeve, radio trim plate, DIN radio mounting panel, and rear support strap, designed to integrate aftermarket stereos into factory dash locations.

Installation Steps by Vehicle Model:

2004-UP FORD F-150

Using panel removal tool, pry loose panel from around radio, vent, and shifter. Unplug and remove.
Remove (4) Phillips head screws from radio brackets. Unplug and remove.

2005-UP FORD FIVE HUNDRED / 2005-UP MERCURY MONTEGO

Unsnap shifter trim bezel, lift away and remove.
Unsnap center console bezel, lift away and remove.
Extract (2) 7mm hex bolts securing bottom edge of dash panel. Unsnap dash panel, lift away, disconnect and remove.
Extract (4) 7mm hex bolts securing radio, lift away, disconnect and remove.

2004-UP FORD FREESTAR / 2005-UP FORD FOCUS / 2004-UP MERCURY MONTEREY

Using panel removal tool, pop out radio bezel. Disconnect and remove.
Using 1/4" socket and ratchet, extract 4 bolts from radio, disconnect and remove.

2005 FORD MUSTANG

Open center console, remove two (2) Phillips head screws from back of console cover. Lift up and remove. (Console cover is held in place by two screws in back and press clips on each side and front.)
Remove panel from along side of center dash by pulling from bottom to top. Panels are held in place via press clips.
To remove radio trim bezel, extract (6) 9/32 screws (three on each side) from panel. Unplug heat and AC control harnesses, remove panel. Extract four 9/32 screws from radio mounting, unplug and remove.

2005-UP FORD SUPERDUTY PICK-UP

Carefully unsnap dash/radio panel using panel removal tool, lift away, disconnect and remove.
Extract four (4) 8mm hex bolts securing radio, lift away, disconnect and remove.

Radio Assembly

Stereo Installation:

Connect the stereo to the factory plugs as directed in the stereo installation manual. (The use of the Scosche FD23 factory connector eliminates the need to cut the factory plugs.)
