Selection of Mounting Location
The recommended mounting location and approach vary for different Daikin indoor unit types.
1. Wall-mounted unit
Applicable models: CTXS, FAQ, FTK_N, FTX_N, FTX_U, FTXG, FTXR, FTXS, FXAQ.
For wall-mounted units, if refrigerant piping is on the right side and the piping chase is not occupied, mount the adaptor inside the indoor unit for concealment. Otherwise, mount it outside.
- Mounting inside the indoor unit piping chase: Utilize available space near the indoor unit mounting plate. Mount the backplate to the wall, ensuring the high voltage power side faces the indoor unit electrical box. The front cover is optional. Some units may require front plate removal.
Mounting outside of the indoor unit: If refrigerant piping is left-side installed and occupies the chase, mount the adaptor outside. Select a location providing access to the indoor unit electrical box while minimizing visibility of the adaptor and wiring.
2. Ducted and Air Handler Unit
Applicable models: CDXS, CXTQ, FBQ, FDMQ, FDXS, FTQ, FXDQ, FXMQ, FXSQ, FXTQ.
Mount the adaptor to the side or top of the indoor unit using adhesive tape, or to a nearby sturdy surface. Ensure access to the indoor unit electrical box.
3. Ceiling Cassette Units
Applicable models: FCQ, FFQ, FXEQ, FXFQ, FXZQ.
Mount the adaptor on top or side of the indoor unit using adhesive tape, or above the ceiling using screws. Ensure access to the indoor unit electrical box.
4. Ceiling suspended Units
Applicable models: FHQ, FXHQ, FXUQ.
Mount the adaptor on top of the indoor unit using adhesive tape (for FXUQ), or above the ceiling. Ensure access to the indoor unit electrical box.
5. Floor-mounted and Floor Standing Units
Applicable models: FVXS, FXLQ, FXMQ, FXNQ.
Mount the translator box by the side of the indoor unit. Select a location that minimizes the view of the adaptor and wiring, while providing access to the indoor unit electrical box.
Mounting
The Translation Adaptor offers two mounting approaches.
1. Mount with two screws
Use the provided screws to mount the adaptor's backplate to a suitable wall surface. Do not mount the adaptor directly to the indoor unit.
[Diagram description: Shows mounting plate, screws, and adaptor being assembled.]
2. Mount with double-sided adhesive tape
Use the provided double-sided adhesive tape to mount the translator box directly onto the indoor unit. The mounting plate has a recess for the tape. Text "APPLY OPTIONAL ADHESIVE STRIP HERE" indicates the tape placement area.
To ensure durable adhesive performance:
- Clean the mounting surface thoroughly, preferably with a 50:50 isopropyl alcohol and water mixture, to remove dust and oils. Improper cleaning will prevent proper adhesion.
- For flat surfaces, apply firm pressure for 30 seconds to the provided adhesive tape for better contact.
- For non-flat or curved surfaces, consider using stronger adhesive tape like 3M Super Strength Molding Tape 03609.
