To avoid splashing, do not attach the filter holder while coffee is brewing or immediately after. Wait a few seconds after it is finished.
RISK OF BURNS!
Tips for Warmer Coffee (Fig. G)
To achieve warmer espresso, we recommend the following:
- Warm the cups before brewing coffee by rinsing them with hot water.
- Insert the filter holder (3) into the machine with the filter inserted, without adding coffee. Use the same cup that will be used for brewing, press the 1-cup button (20), and let hot water dispense into the cup to warm it.
It is normal for the first few cups of coffee not to reach the correct temperature after a long period of machine inactivity (a pause of over 30 minutes). Repeat the procedure described to make the coffee warmer.
Ground Coffee (Fig. B-C-E-G)
- Insert the ground coffee filter into a single cup (14) or double cup (15) filter holder (3).
- Fill the filter (14) or (15) with ground coffee, ensuring you use finely ground coffee suitable for espresso.
- Distribute the ground coffee evenly and tamp it with the tamper (12).
- Remove any excess coffee from the edge of the filter holder (3). Attach the filter holder to the brew group (2) and turn it clockwise to the locked position.
- For one cup, fill the designated filter (14) with one level scoop of coffee (approx. 7 grams).
- For two cups, fill the designated filter (15) with two level scoops.
- For a stronger cup of coffee, tamp the ground coffee firmly with the tamper.
- For a milder cup of coffee, do not tamp the ground coffee too firmly with the tamper.
- Before inserting the filter holder into the brew group, clean the filter rim to remove any coffee residue.
- Place the cup or cups under the filter holder spouts.
- Press the button for the desired function. Brewing will stop automatically for each selected function.
For specific drinks, see section 2.2 "Description of Commands".
When dispensing is complete, wait a couple of seconds, then remove the filter holder (3) by turning it counter-clockwise.
Coffee Pods (Fig. B-C-F-G)
- Insert the pod filter (13) into the filter holder (3).
- Insert the pod into the filter holder (3) and try to center it as much as possible. Attach the filter holder (3) to the brew group (2).
- Place the cup or cups under the filter holder spouts (3) and press the dispensing button (20).
- When dispensing is complete, turn the filter holder (3) counter-clockwise to remove it.
Before proceeding with dispensing, ensure the pod's flap remains inside the filter and not on the edge.
All dispensing can be interrupted at any time by pressing the dispensing button.
After each dispensing and after waiting a few seconds, we recommend removing the filter holder and cleaning the filter of coffee residues.

- Place the container with milk under the milk frother (7) and position the end of the tube to contact the milk.
- Turn the steam knob (8) counter-clockwise to activate steam.
- Then, lower the frother into the milk and gently move the milk container up and down.
- When the optimal temperature is reached, stop dispensing by turning the steam knob (8) clockwise.
- Pour the frothed milk into the cups with the previously brewed espresso.
- To brew multiple cappuccinos, first brew all cups with coffee, then froth the milk for all cappuccinos.
- Clean the steam wand with a damp cloth immediately after frothing the milk (7).
- Empty milk residue by turning the steam knob to release steam.
- Dispense steam for a maximum of 60 seconds.
- After heating the milk, the steam wand (7) must be cleaned internally by dispensing steam for a few seconds.
- Clean the steam wand (7) every time it is used to prevent build-up of milk residue or clogging. For a complete cleaning of the steam wand, see section "Cleaning and Maintenance".
For cups with very high rims, the drip tray (6) can be removed.
The steam function may be affected by the ingredients used. For a good cappuccino, it is recommended to use semi-skimmed or standard milk kept at refrigerator temperature (approx. 5 °C). To avoid poorly frothed milk or milk with large bubbles, always clean the steam wand as described in section "4 Cleaning and Maintenance".
Cooling the Heating Element (Fig. H)
When the heating element is too hot to brew coffee, buttons (20) and (21) will flash alternately. The heating element must be cooled if you wish to brew a cup of coffee immediately after frothing milk. If the heating element is not cooled, the coffee may taste burnt. To quickly cool the heating element, do the following:
- Place a container under the milk frother (7) and turn the steam knob (8) counter-clockwise to let hot water run out.
- The steam wand (7) will initially dispense steam. Be careful of burns. Then, continue dispensing hot water: this indicates the heating element has reached the correct temperature for brewing coffee.
- Turn the steam knob (8) clockwise and proceed with brewing coffee.
