Unpacking the Device
- Carefully remove all protective material and save the shipping container.
- Verify the contents: Tablet, Battery (installed), Stylus, Regulatory Guide.
- Inspect for damage. Contact Global Customer Support if any items are missing or damaged.
- Remove protective shipping film from the scan window and display before first use.
Features
The ET60W and ET65W tablets offer various features, some of which may vary by configuration.
Front View Features:
- 1: Front microphones: Used for voice communications and audio recordings.
- 2: Windows Hello infrared LED: Illuminates your face for Windows Hello face authentication.
- 3: Windows Hello infrared camera: Captures your face for Windows Hello face authentication.
- 4: Front camera: Used for video conferencing.
- 5: Front camera LED: Illuminates when the front camera is active.
- 6: Light sensor: Adjusts display backlight intensity based on ambient light.
- 7: Right access door: Secures USB ports.
- 8: Touch screen: Displays all information for device operation.
- 9: Dock alignment slot: Assists in aligning the tablet with a dock.
- 10: Speakers: Provide audio output.
- 11: Dock USB connector: Enables USB communication through the dock.
- 12: Charging indicator: Shows power state and battery charging status.
- 13: Keyboard/shoulder strap mount slots: For attaching keyboard and shoulder strap clips.
- 14: Power button: Turns the display on/off, powers on the device, and can be used for fingerprint authentication (optional).
- 15: + button: Programmable button (default: increase volume).
- 16: - button: Programmable button (default: decrease volume).
- 17: Keyboard interface connector: Provides power and communication to the keyboard.
- 18: P3 button: Programmable button (default: Ctrl+Alt+Del).
- 19: Kensington security slot: For attaching a security cable.
- 20: P2 button: Programmable button (default: opens Copilot).
- 21: P1 button: Programmable button (default: opens Zebra Control Hub).
- 22: Dock power / antenna connector: Provides power and antenna connection through the dock.
Right Side Features:
- 1: Stylus garage: Stores the stylus.
- 2: USB-C Thunderbolt 4 port: For host computer communication, accessories, and charging.
- 3: USB-A 3.1 port: For accessories like scanners and wired headsets.
Left Side Features:
- 1: USB-C Thunderbolt 4 port: For host computer communication, accessories, and charging.
- 2: Scan button / Programmable button: Initiates barcode capture (if scanner equipped) or performs a programmable function.
Back View Features:
- 1: Stylus mount: For attaching a stylus tether.
- 2: Exhaust vent: Allows airflow out of the tablet.
- 3: NFC antenna: Reads NFC cards.
- 4: Accessory mount point locations: For accessory captive screws. Do not remove the polymer film.
- 5: Rear camera: Autofocus camera for photos and barcode data capture.
- 6: Rear camera LED flash: Provides illumination for the camera.
- 7: Scanner exit window: For data capture with the internal imager (optional).
- 8: Communication expansion port: Provides USB communication and power to an accessory.
- 9: Battery release latches: Releases the battery.
- 10: Battery / Blank Battery Pack: Provides power or water/dust sealing when no battery is used.
- 11: Dock alignment slot: Assists in aligning the tablet with a dock.
- 12: Intake vent: Provides airflow into the tablet.

For battery purchase or service, visit Request a Repair. One Care Support Services offers repair and replacement for 3 to 5 years from the date of sale.
Setting Up the Device
The ET6xW ships in Ship Mode. To exit Ship Mode, connect to a powered dock or USB cable and press the power button.
- Install a nano SIM card (optional, ET65W only).
- Install the battery.
- Charge the device.
Installing the nano SIM Card (ET65W Only)
The nano SIM card is required for cellular data connectivity.
Note: Only use a nano SIM card. Follow electrostatic discharge (ESD) precautions.
- Slide the battery release latches towards the sides of the tablet to eject the battery slightly.
- Lift the battery out of the tablet.
- Lift the SIM cover.
- Slide the SIM holder to the unlock position.
- Open the SIM holder.
- Place the SIM card face down in the holder.
- Close the SIM door.
- Slide the SIM holder to the lock position.
- Replace the SIM cover.
- Insert the battery, bottom first, into the compartment.
- Press the battery down until the release latches snap into place.
Replacing the Battery
Note: Do not place labels or stickers in the battery well, as this may affect device performance and sealing.
- Slide the battery release latches towards the sides of the tablet to eject the battery slightly.
- Lift the battery out of the tablet. Note: In Hot Swap mode, replace the battery within 60 seconds to preserve memory.
- Insert the replacement battery, bottom first, into the compartment.
- Press the battery down until the release latches snap into place.
- Press the Power button to turn on the device.
Device Charging
Charge the battery before first use. Battery-free tablets do not require charging.
The Charging Indicator LED turns green when fully charged. The tablet can be used while charging.
Connect the charging accessory to a power source. Insert the device into a dock or attach a USB charger. The Charging Indicator LED blinks amber while charging and turns solid green when fully charged.
Charging Times:
- Standard battery: Approximately 2.5 hours for 0-100%.
- Extended battery: Approximately 5 hours for 0-100%.
For optimal results, use Zebra charging accessories and batteries. Charge batteries at room temperature with the device off.
Charging Accessories:
- USB-C to AC Adapter (PWR-BGA15V45W-UC2-WW): Provides tablet charging. Requires a country-specific AC line cord.
- 2-slot Battery Charger (SAC-ET6X-2SCHG-01): Charges up to two batteries. Requires power supply, DC line cord, and country-specific AC line cord.
Charging Indicators
LED | Indication |

Solid Amber | Device is charging. |
Solid Red | Device is charging; battery at end of useful life. |
Solid Green | Device is fully charged. |
Solid Blue | Battery-free tablet connected to external power. |
Charging Temperature
Charge batteries in ambient temperatures between 0°C and 45°C (32°F to 113°F). The device manages charging to maintain acceptable battery temperatures. Charging may be temporarily disabled at higher temperatures. The LED will indicate when charging is disabled due to abnormal temperatures.
Spare Battery Charging
The Spare Battery Charging LED indicates the charging status of a spare battery.
- Standard battery: 4% to 80% in 2.5 hours.
- Extended battery: 4% to 80% in 5.5 hours.
Use Zebra charging accessories and batteries for optimal fast charging.
Spare Battery LED Charging Indicators:
Indication | Description |

Solid Amber | Spare battery is charging. |
Solid Green | Spare battery charging is complete. |
Solid Red | Spare battery charging; battery at end of useful life. Charging complete; battery at end of useful life. |
Fast Blinking Red (2 blinks/sec) | Error in charging; check battery placement or battery condition. |
Off | No spare battery in slot, battery not placed correctly, or charger not powered. |
USB-C to AC Adapter
This adapter provides power to the tablet. Ensure battery safety guidelines are followed.

2-Slot Battery Charger
This charger can charge up to two batteries.
- 1: Battery Charge LED
- 2: Battery slot
- 3: Power LED
- 4: USB-C port: Service connector only for firmware upgrades, not for power charging.

Using the Camera
Use the front or rear camera to take photos or record videos.
Note: For the front camera, move the privacy switch to the open position.
- Open the Camera app.
- Point the rear camera at the subject.
- Touch the on-screen shutter button to capture a photo or video.

Reading NFC Cards
The tablet supports reading NFC cards. The NFC antenna is on the back of the tablet.
With an NFC-enabled application open, bring the NFC card near the antenna. An audio or visual indication confirms a successful read.

Scanning with the Internal Scanner
Use the internal imager to capture barcode data.
Note: Use the Zebra 123Scan utility for scanner configuration. Refer to zebra.com/us/en/support-downloads/software/scanner-software/123scan-utility.html.
- Ensure an app is open and a text field has focus.
- Point the device's exit window at a barcode.
- Press and hold the scan button. The aiming dot and illumination will activate.
- Ensure the barcode is within the aiming pattern. The aiming dot aids visibility in bright light.
- A beep confirms successful barcode decoding (default).
- Release the scan button.
- Captured data appears in the text field.
