Replacing the Battery

This section describes how to re-install the battery into the tablet.

? Note: Modifying the device, especially by placing labels, asset tags, printouts, or stickers in the battery compartment, may affect the device's or accessory's expected performance. Sealing (IP rating), impact resistance (drop and tumble), functionality, and temperature tolerance may be affected. Do not place any labels, asset tags, printouts, or stickers in the battery compartment.

Steps to remove battery:

  1. Slide the battery release latch towards the side of the tablet. The battery will pop out slightly.
  2. Remove the battery from the tablet.

Device Charging

Connect the tablet to an external power source before first use to charge the battery.

? Note: A tablet without a battery does not require charging.

Keep the tablet connected to the power source until it is fully charged. The charging LED indicator will turn green when the tablet is fully charged. You can use the tablet while it is charging.

To charge the main battery, connect a charging accessory to the appropriate power source. Connect the device to a dock or a USB charger. The device will start charging when powered on. During charging, the charging LED indicator will flash amber, and it will be solid green when fully charged.

A standard battery charges from 0% to 100% in approximately 2.5 hours. A high-capacity battery charges from 0% to 100% in approximately 5 hours. For optimal charging results, use only Zebra charging accessories and batteries. Charge the battery at room temperature with the device turned off.

Figure 6: SE55 Aiming Box

Figure 7: SE55 Aiming for Multi-Barcode Read Mode

Diagram Description: Two diagrams illustrate aiming for barcode scanning. The first shows a green aiming box with a green dot in the center, indicating a successful scan. The second shows a red 'X' over a barcode, indicating an unsuccessful scan, and a green checkmark for a successful scan in multi-barcode mode.

? Note: When the device is in multi-barcode read mode, it will not decode barcodes unless the center of the crosshairs touches the barcode. By default, a beep indicates that the barcode has been successfully decoded.

  1. Ensure the barcode is within the area formed by the aiming box. The aiming dot improves visibility in high-brightness environments.
  2. Release the scan button.
  3. The collected data will display in the text field.
