Barcode Scanner Overview
The scanner utilizes a 2.4 GHz USB Receiver for wireless connectivity.
Diagram Description: Visual representation of the 2.4 GHz USB Receiver and USB Cable. An inset shows the USB receiver being plugged into the bottom of the scanner.
Operation Instruction:
1. Choose Communication Mode
Working via USB Cable
Connect the scanner to your device via USB cable. It is plug and play. If you use a non-US keyboard layout, please refer to the 'keyboard language' section to configure the keyboard language before use.
Working via USB receiver
Plug the USB receiver into your device to start using it. The scanner defaults to US keyboard configuration. If you use a different keyboard layout, please refer to the 'keyboard language' section to configure it.
2. Get started to scan normal barcode
- Scan the barcode at a correct angle (±45° to 60°).
- Move the scanner towards the barcode back and forth to find the optimal scanning distance.
3. LED and Beeper Indication
Scan Result | Buzzer | LED |
---|---|---|
Successful Scan | One beep | Light On then OFF |
Failed | Three beeps | Light flash once then OFF |
Five beeps |
Important Note:
- If the scanner makes three beeps, please configure the channel. Refer to 'Configure Working Channel'.
- If the scanner makes five beeps, please charge the power for 3-4 hours until the LED light turns solid blue.
Barcode Programming
NETUM barcode scanners are factory programmed for common terminal and communications settings. To change these settings, scan the appropriate barcodes provided in this guide. An asterisk (*) indicates the default setting.
Communication Mode
USB -KBW *
When connecting the scanner to a host via USB, you can enable the USB-KBW feature by scanning the barcode below. It operates on a Plug and Play basis with no driver required.
[Barcode: USB-KBW *]
Keyboard Language
To ensure correct code output after scanning, configure the keyboard language before use. For example, to use a French Keyboard, scan the "French Keyboard" command barcode. The scanner will then output barcodes according to the French keyboard layout. US Keyboard is the default setting; you can skip this step if you use a US keyboard.
- [Barcode: US Keyboard*]
- [Barcode: French Keyboard]
- [Barcode: Germany Keyboard]
- [Barcode: Italy Keyboard]
- [Barcode: Portugal Keyboard]
- [Barcode: Spain Keyboard]
- [Barcode: Turkey Keyboard]
- [Barcode: UK keyboard]
Scanning Mode
Trigger Mode (Default)
Scanning this barcode enables the scanner to enter manual trigger mode.
[Barcode: Trigger Mode]
Continuous Mode
This mode allows the scanner engine to scan, capture, decode, and transmit continuously.
[Barcode: Continuous Mode]
Terminator
This feature allows configuring the terminating character suffix to CR or CRLF by scanning the appropriate barcode.
- [Barcode: No terminator]
- [Barcode: Add TAB as terminator]
- [Barcode: Add Enter as terminator]
Working Mode (Only apply for wireless mode)
If you are working outside the signal range, you can activate store mode. In store mode, scanned data is stored directly into the device's buffer memory and permanently saved before manual upload to the working station. This allows for multiple uploads.
- To activate store mode, scan the following barcode: [Barcode: Store Mode]
- To delete all data in the buffer memory, scan: [Barcode: Clear All Memory]
- To upload all data entries from buffer memory after reconnecting to the working station, scan: [Barcode: Uploading the Data]
- To summarize the gross quantity of uploaded data entries, scan: [Barcode: Summarising of Uploaded Data Entry Quantity]
5. To exit store mode and enable immediate output upon scanning, scan the following barcode: [Barcode: Quick Store Mode*]
Configure Idle time
The scanner stays awake for a set idle time and enters sleep mode if not used during that period.
- [Barcode: $RF#ST02] Idle Time - 1 Min
- [Barcode: $RF#ST06] Idle Time - 3 Min
- [Barcode: $RF#ST20] Idle Time - 10 Min
- [Barcode: $RF#ST60] Idle Time - 30 Min
Sleep Mode can be disabled by scanning the following command barcodes:
- [Barcode: $POWER#OFF] Power Off
- [Barcode: $RF#ST00] Disable Sleep Mode
Configure the channel
If the scanner makes three beeps, it indicates a need to reconfigure the channel to rebuild the connection between the scanner and receiver.
Steps:
- Ensure the USB cable is removed from the scanner before configuring the channel.
- Scan one of the channel barcodes below. The scanner will emit a beep sound.
- Plug in the USB receiver; the beep sound will stop immediately, indicating successful configuration.

Start Wireless Scan
If the scanner beeps after scanning a normal barcode but does not output data, scan the following command barcode to start wireless scanning.
[Barcode: Start Wireless Scan]
Check scanner Version
Scan the command barcode below to check the scanner's version.

Configure Prefix or Suffix
Add Prefix
- Scan code 'add prefix'. This step clears all previous prefix configurations. You can add up to 32 codes.
- [Barcode: 0C001] Add Prefix
- Scan related prefix codes to configure the prefix. For example: To add 'MG' as prefixes, first scan the code for 'M' then scan the code for 'G'.
- Example: [Barcode: $4D] M, [Barcode: $47] G. Scanning 'Test' afterwards will result in 'MGTEST'.
Add Suffix
- Scan code 'add suffix'. This step clears all previous suffix configurations. You can add up to 32 codes.
- [Barcode: 0C002] Add Suffix
- Scan related suffix codes to configure the suffix. For example: To add 'MG' as suffixes, first scan the code for 'M' then scan the code for 'G'.
- Example: [Barcode: $4D] M, [Barcode: $47] G. Scanning 'Test' afterwards will result in 'TESTMG'.
Hide Front/Back Codes
Hide Front Codes
Scan the barcode for 'Hide Front Codes'. All previous configurations will be cleared. Scan the number you want to hide (maximum 32 codes).
[Barcode: 0C003]
Example: To hide the first 2 codes, scan the code for $02. Scanning test code '123456789' will result in '3456789'.
Hide Back Codes
Scan the barcode for 'Hide Back Codes'. All previous configurations will be cleared. Scan the number you want to hide (maximum 32 codes).
[Barcode: 0C004]

Hide Number xth Code from the front
Scan the barcode '0C005'. All previous configurations will be cleared. Scan the number code of the position you want to hide.
[Barcode: 0C005]
Example: To hide the second code from the front, scan the code for $02. Scanning test code '987654321' will result in '97654321'.

FAQ
-
Some barcodes cannot be read, why?
- Dirty or unclear barcodes might not be read.
- Digital barcodes displayed on phones, computers, or tablets cannot be read by a laser scanner.
- The configuration for some barcode types may be off by default if they are not commonly used. You may need to activate a specific barcode type. Contact customer service for assistance.
- The scanner cannot read 2D barcodes (QR, Datamatrix, PDF417).
-
Are there barcodes for applying or removing suffixes?
Yes, please refer to the 'configure prefix or suffix' section of this manual.
-
The data cannot be sent to my computer. Why?
- Ensure the scanner has exited store mode. It stores scans internally instead of transmitting them instantly. Scan 'uploading the data' to send scanned codes to your connected device.
- The scanner may have disconnected from the USB receiver (indicated by 3 beeps when scanning a normal barcode, and data not being uploaded). In this case, refer to the 'configure the channel' section.
-
There is a laser beam, but the scanner cannot read any barcode or makes 5 beeps after reading a barcode.
Charge the scanner immediately. The scanner cannot read any barcode when it is under low voltage.
