Install the Product
Notes on Product Installation Position
- Choose a location for your solar panel that receives the most sunlight throughout the year. The Reolink solar panel needs only a few hours of direct sunlight daily to power the camera. Sunlight harvesting is affected by weather, seasons, and geographic locations.
- Install the camera 2-3 meters (7-10 ft) above ground for optimal PIR motion sensor detection range. Install the camera angularly for effective detection. Note that if a moving object approaches the PIR sensor vertically, detection may fail.
Install the Solar Panel
- Secure the camera mounting base on the mounting bracket with two screws.
- Drill holes in the desired mounting surface according to the mounting template.
- Insert anchors and attach the mounting bracket to the mounting surface. Use the provided open end wrench to tighten the screws.
- Install the solar panel to the bracket using the provided Hex Key to tighten the screws and secure the panel.
- Loosen the four screws on the solar panel's bracket to rotate the panel for maximum sunlight exposure. Then fasten the screws tightly.
- Connect the cable from the panel to the shorter cable on the bracket, ensuring the arrows on both cables are aligned.
Install the Camera
- Attach the camera to the mounting bracket for better waterproof performance. Use a screwdriver and two screws to secure the lower part of the camera bracket, then fix the upper part with the screwdriver and two screws.
- Connect the camera's charging cable to the longer cable on the bracket.
- You can also install the camera in a different location than the solar panel. Drill holes in accordance with the mounting hole template, install the mount base with screws, and power the camera by connecting its charging cable to the longer cable on the bracket.
- To adjust the camera direction, use the Reolink App or Client to pan and tilt the camera.
Important notice:
- Ensure the solar panel is not blocked, as even partial blockage drastically reduces energy harvesting efficiency.
- Do not install the solar panel completely horizontally to prevent dust accumulation. Install it angularly for direct sunlight.
- Wipe the solar panel regularly to remove dust or debris.
Troubleshooting
PIR Sensor Fails to Trigger Alarm
If the PIR sensor does not trigger alarms within the covered area, try the following:
- Ensure the camera is installed 2-3 meters (7-10 ft) above ground.
- Verify the PIR sensor or camera is installed in the correct direction.
- Check if the PIR sensor is enabled and the schedule is set up properly.
- Adjust sensitivity settings.
- Ensure the battery is working.
- Reset the camera and try again.
If issues persist, contact Reolink Support at https://support.reolink.com.
Unable to Receive Push Notifications
If you do not receive push notifications for motion detection, try the following:
- Ensure push notifications are enabled in the app settings.
- Verify the PIR schedule is set up correctly.
- Check your phone's network connection.
- Confirm the camera is connected to the Internet. A solid or flickering red LED indicator under the daylight sensor signifies a disconnection.
- Enable "Allow Notifications" for the Reolink App in your phone's system settings.
If issues persist, contact Reolink Support at https://support.reolink.com.
