Troubleshooting Common Issues
Voice Prompt | Camera Status | Solutions |
---|---|---|
"SIM card cannot be recognized" | Camera cannot recognize this SIM card. | 1. Check if the SIM card is facing the reverse direction. 2. Check if the SIM card is not fully inserted and insert it again. |
"The SIM card is locked with a PIN Please disable it" | Your SIM card has a PIN. | Put the SIM card into your mobile phone and disable the PIN. |
"Not registered on network. Please activate your SIM card and check the signal strength" | Camera fails to register to the operator network. | 1. Check whether your card is activated or not. If not, please call your operator to activate the SIM card. 2. The signal is weak at the current position. Please move the camera to a location with better signal. 3. Check if you are using the correct version of the camera. |
"Network connection failed" | Camera fails to connect to the server. | The camera will be in Standby mode and reconnect later. |
"Data call failed. Please confirm your cellular data plan is available or import the APN settings" | The SIM card has run out of data or APN settings are not correct. | 1. Please check whether the data plan for the SIM card is still available. 2. Import the correct APN settings to the camera. |
Charge the Camera
It is recommended to fully charge the battery before mounting the camera outdoors.
- Charge with a power adapter: Connect a power adapter (not included) to the camera.
- Charge with Reolink Solar Panel: Connect the Reolink Solar Panel (not included if you only purchase the camera) to the camera.
Charging Indicator LED:
- Orange LED: Charging
- Green LED: Fully charged
Install the Camera
Installation Guidelines:
- Install the camera 2-3 meters (7-10 ft) above the ground to maximize the PIR motion sensor's detection range.
- For better motion detection performance, install the camera angularly.
NOTE: If a moving object approaches the PIR sensor vertically, the camera may fail to detect motion.
Diagram: Illustrates mounting height (2-3 Meters) and PIR detection distance (2-10 Meters) with an angular view (θ) and detection area (X).
Installation Tips
- Do not face the camera towards any light sources.
- Do not point the camera towards a glass window, as this may result in poor image quality due to window glare from infrared LEDs, ambient lights, or status lights.
- Avoid placing the camera in a shaded area and pointing it towards a well-lit area, as this can also lead to poor image quality.
- To ensure the best image quality, the lighting conditions for both the camera and the capture object should be consistent.
- Ensure the power port is not directly exposed to water or moisture and is kept free from dirt or other elements.
- The camera is waterproof and can operate properly in conditions like rain and snow, but it is not designed for underwater use.
Mount the camera to the wall
Steps:
- Drill holes in accordance with the mounting hole template.
- Install the mount base using the screws included in the package.
- Adjust the camera direction by controlling the pan and tilt via the Reolink App or Client.
NOTE: Use the drywall anchors included in the package if needed.
Mount the Camera to Ceiling
Follow similar steps as wall mounting, using the appropriate ceiling mount hardware.
Install the Camera with Loop Strap
Secure the mounting plate to the mount base with screws and run the provided strap through the plate.
Safety Instructions of Battery Usage
The camera is designed for motion event recording and remote live viewing, not for 24/7 continuous operation. For tips on extending battery life, visit: https://support.reolink.com/hc/en-us/articles/360006991893
- The battery is built-in and cannot be removed from the camera.
- Charge the rechargeable battery using a standard, high-quality DC 5V/9V battery charger or a Reolink solar panel. Do not use solar panels from other brands.
- Charge the battery when ambient temperatures are between 0°C and 45°C. Use the battery when temperatures are between -20°C and 60°C.
- Do not charge, use, or store the battery near ignition sources such as fire or heaters.
- Do not use the battery if it exhibits an odor, generates heat, becomes discolored or deformed, or appears abnormal in any way. If the battery is in use or charging and shows abnormalities, turn off the power switch or remove the charger immediately and stop using it.
- Always follow local waste and recycling laws when disposing of the used battery.
Troubleshooting
Camera is not Powering on
If your camera is not turning on, try the following solutions:
- Ensure the power switch is turned on.
- Charge the battery with a DC 5V/2A power adapter. The green light indicates the battery is fully charged.
If these steps do not resolve the issue, please contact Reolink Support at https://support.reolink.com.
PIR Sensor Fails to Trigger Alarm
If the PIR sensor does not trigger an alarm within the covered area, try these solutions:
- Verify that the PIR sensor or camera is installed in the correct direction.
- Ensure the PIR sensor is enabled and the schedule is set up properly and running.
- Check the sensitivity settings and confirm they are configured correctly.
- Make sure the battery is functional.
- Reset the camera and try again.
If these steps do not resolve the issue, please contact Reolink Support at https://support.reolink.com.
Unable to Receive Push Notifications
If you are not receiving push notifications when motion is detected, try the following:
- Confirm that push notifications are enabled in the app settings.
- Ensure the PIR schedule is set up correctly.
- Check your phone's network connection and try again.
- Verify the camera is connected to the Internet. A solid red or flickering red LED indicator under the daylight sensor signifies a disconnection.
- Enable "Allow Notifications" in your phone's system settings for the Reolink App.
