Behringer XENYX 1002B: Battery Powered 10 x 2 Mixer

Premium 10-Input 2-Bus Mixer with XENYX Preamps, British EQs and Optional Battery Operation

Overview

The Behringer XENYX 1002B is a premium ultra-low noise analog mixer offering optional battery operation. It features 2 state-of-the-art XENYX Mic Preamps, comparable to boutique preamps, and a neo-classic "British" 3-band EQ for warm, musical sound. The mixer provides 4 balanced, high-headroom stereo inputs, with 3 additional mic inputs. Each channel includes one post-fader FX send and one pre-fader MON send for external effects and monitor applications. Clip LEDs are present on all channels, with dedicated inserts on all mono channels. Connectivity includes main outputs, separate phones, and CD/Tape outputs. It also offers switchable phantom power for condenser microphones, long-wearing 60-mm logarithmic-taper master fader, and sealed rotary controls. An external power supply ensures noise-free audio and superior transient response. High-quality components and rugged construction ensure long life. Conceived and designed by BEHRINGER Germany.

State-of-the-Art Goes Portable

The XENYX 1002B is designed for portability, operating either via wall power or 9 V batteries. It shares many features with Behringer's larger mixers, including XENYX mic preamps for exceptional sound quality and phantom power for professional condenser mics. It includes 2-Track inputs and outputs. The mixer features 60 mm faders. Its four stereo channels accept left/right or mono 1/4" TRS/TR inputs, with three channels also accommodating microphones via separate Trim controls. The compact XENYX 1002B also boasts a musical 3-band British EQ and dedicated FX and monitor sends per channel, making it a versatile tool for any audio setup.

Key Features

  • Superior Mic Preamps: Offers a significant milestone in mixer technology with premium XENYX mic preamps, providing sound quality and headroom comparable to expensive stand-alone units. Features a staggering 130 dB dynamic range and a bandwidth extending from below 10 Hz to well above 200 kHz for transparent, crystal-clear performance.
  • Sublimely Musical British EQ: Inspired by the legendary British consoles of the 1960s and '70s, this 3-band EQ imbues signals with incredible warmth and detailed musical character. It provides sweet forgiveness and superb audio quality, even when applied generously.
  • Applications and Value: Its compact size and flexible input scheme make it ideal for various applications. It's suitable for keyboardists needing to mix multiple instruments, singers performing with backing tracks, and instrumentalist/singers. The XENYX 1002B is also favored by sports announcers, radio, and TV reporters for its ease-of-use, fidelity, and rugged reliability, especially in remote locations thanks to the 9 V battery option.
