Safety Instructions
DANGER: Failure to follow safety information can result in serious injury or death.
WARNING: Failure to follow safety information could result in serious injury or death.
CAUTION: Failure to follow safety information may result in injury.
General Safety Precautions:
- Always wear ANSI Z87.1 approved safety goggles.
- Never spray flammable liquids in confined areas.
- Operate in a well-ventilated area.
- Do not smoke while spraying.
- Ensure proper grounding of the unit.
- Never use the compressor outdoors in rain or on wet surfaces.
- Regularly drain the air tank to prevent rust and weakening.
- Do not weld, drill, or modify the air tank.
- Always shut off, unplug, and bleed pressure before servicing or when not in use.
- Keep children away from the compressor.
- Do not touch hot components (pump, manifold) while the unit is running. Allow to cool before handling.
- Use a respirator mask if spraying toxic materials.
- Never inhale compressed air directly.
- Never exceed the maximum working pressure of the tool.
- Do not open the drain valve when tank pressure is above 10 PSI.
- Wear hearing protection.
- Operate on a stable surface; do not use on rooftops or elevated positions.
- Keep the unit at least 12 inches from walls for proper ventilation.
- Inspect air hoses and power cords weekly for damage.
Operating Instructions
1. Preparing for Startup:
- Ensure the ON/OFF switch (I) is in the OFF position.
- Turn the air pressure regulator (D) counterclockwise until it stops.
- Attach air hose/accessories or air tools to the quick coupler (F).
2. Starting the Compressor:
- Close the tank drain valve (G) by turning clockwise.
- Plug in the power cord (J).
- Set the ON/OFF switch (I) to the ON position. Allow tank pressure to build. The motor will stop automatically when the tank pressure reaches the cut-out pressure.
- Turn the air pressure regulator (D) clockwise until the desired pressure is reached.
- The compressor is now ready for use.
3. Shutting Down the Compressor:
- Set the ON/OFF switch (I) to the OFF position.
- Unplug the power cord (J).
- Reduce pressure in the tank through the outlet hose or by pulling the pressure relief valve (H).
- Tip the compressor to access the tank drain valve (G) and open it counterclockwise to drain moisture.
Care and Maintenance
- Daily: Drain the tank to prevent corrosion. Pull the pressure relief valve (H) to ensure it is functioning and clear obstructions.
- Weekly: Clean the air filter (M). Replace if necessary. Foam filters should be cleaned in warm, soapy water.
- Connections: Check all connections for tightness. Repair leaks using soapy water. Do not overtighten.
- Storage: Before long-term storage, clean dust and debris, coil the power cord, release all tank pressure, drain all moisture, and cover the unit.
Troubleshooting
Problem: Low pressure, not enough air, or compressor does not stop.
- Possible Causes: Open drain valve, leaking fittings, excessive air use, undersized compressor, hole in air hose, leaking tank, blown seals, leaking valve, worn piston.
- Corrective Actions: Close drain valve, check/tighten fittings, reduce air usage, use a larger compressor if needed, replace hose/tank, replace compressor assembly as required.
Problem: Air leaks from regulator or regulator does not regulate pressure.
- Possible Cause: Dirty or damaged regulator parts.
- Corrective Action: Replace regulator or internal parts.
Problem: Regulated pressure gauge reading drops when accessory is used.
- Possible Causes: Normal pressure drop, undersized compressor.
- Corrective Actions: Adjust regulator while accessory is in use, or consider a larger compressor if the drop is significant.
Problem: Pressure relief valve opens.
- Possible Causes: Tank pressure exceeds rating, stuck pressure switch.
- Corrective Actions: Replace pressure switch.
Problem: Motor will not run.
- Possible Causes: Pressure switch limit exceeded, blown fuse/tripped breaker, stuck check valve, incorrect extension cord, loose electrical connections, thermal overload tripped.
- Corrective Actions: Allow motor to cool (wait 15 mins), check/replace fuse, reset breaker, check/clean check valve, verify extension cord, contact service for loose connections or defective motor/capacitor/safety valve.
