First Use
Wake up your toothbrush by pressing the [Power Button] (7) and follow the instructions on the interactive display (4) for initial setup. You may toggle through options using the [Mode Button] (8) and select with the [Power Button] (7). Settings can be changed anytime via the «Settings» menu (17).
Charging and Operating
- To charge, place the toothbrush on the plugged-in charger (6).
- The charge level is shown on the interactive display (4). The display turns off when fully charged. A full charge takes approximately 3 hours.
- If the battery is low, the motor speed reduces, and the Smart Pressure Sensor (3) blinks red. When the battery is empty, the motor stops; a 5-minute charge is needed for one usage.
- Note: If the battery is empty (display off), charge for at least 30 minutes.
- You can store the handle on the plugged-in charger to maintain a full charge; overcharging is prevented. Store the handle at room temperature for optimal battery maintenance.
Caution: Do not expose the handle to temperatures higher than 50 °C / 122 °F.
Using Your Toothbrush
Start Brushing
Place the brush head on the handle, leaving a small gap. Lift the handle off the charger or pick it up to wake it (display turns on). Wet the brush head and apply toothpaste. To avoid splashing, guide the brush head to your teeth before pressing the [Power Button] (7) to start.
Note: The display turns off after some time; press the [Power Button] (7) to reactivate it.
Guide the brush head from tooth to tooth, brushing the outsides, insides, and chewing surfaces. Brush all four quadrants of your mouth equally. Consult your dentist or dental hygienist for the best technique for you.
After brushing, the display provides feedback based on your brushing time. Initial gum bleeding may occur in the first few days; this should stop. If bleeding persists after 2 weeks, consult your dentist or dental hygienist. For sensitive teeth or gums, Oral-B recommends «Sensitive» or «Super Sensitive» modes, possibly with an «Gentle Care» brush head (d).
Timer
The timer signals with a short stuttering sound every 30 seconds to indicate moving to the next quadrant. A long stuttering sound signals the end of the recommended 2-minute brushing time. The timer remembers the elapsed time even if the handle is briefly switched off. It resets if paused for over 30 seconds or if placed on the charger.
Note: The timer may be deactivated for some features when using the Oral-B App. Timer settings can be customized via the Oral-B App.
Smart Pressure Sensor
Your toothbrush features a Smart Pressure Sensor (3) with different light indicators:
- White (default): Operating indicator (individual color can be chosen via Oral-B App (b)) / Low pressure indicator.
- Red: High pressure indicator / Low battery indicator.
- Green: Recommended pressure indicator.
- Blue: Bluetooth pairing indicator.
- Orange: Error indicator (follow display messages).
Brush with the recommended pressure (green light). Red light indicates too much pressure and reminds you to reduce it. White light (or your selected color) suggests applying more pressure. During high pressure, brush head movement is reduced in «Daily Clean», «Intense», and «Sensitive» modes.
Periodically check the sensor's operation by pressing moderately on the brush head during use.
Note: Smart Pressure Sensor feedback may be inactive for some features when using the Oral-B App. It is deactivated during «Tongue Clean» mode.
Brushing Modes
Your toothbrush offers various brushing modes indicated on the display:
- Daily Clean™: Standard mode for daily cleaning.
- Sensitive™: Gentle, yet thorough cleaning for sensitive areas.
- Gum Care™: Gentle massage of gums.
- Whiten™: Polishing for occasional or everyday use.
- Intense™: For an extraordinary clean feeling (higher speed).
- Super Sensitive™: Super gentle cleaning for extra sensitive areas.
- Tongue Clean™: Tongue cleaning for occasional or everyday use.
For «Tongue Clean» mode, using a «Gentle Care» brush head (d) is recommended. You can brush your tongue with or without toothpaste, using gentle movements. The recommended time is 30 seconds; the motor stops automatically.
Mode Setting
You can select your default mode by pressing the [Mode Button] (8) after waking the handle. Select a mode by pressing the [Power Button] (7). The toothbrush starts in the selected default mode. Modes can also be changed during brushing.

Brush waking: The handle indicates readiness when picked up, lifted off the charger, or when the [Power Button] is pressed.
Error messages: «outside operating limits»: indicates operation or charging outside standard temperatures or above standard battery current.
Brush Heads
Oral-B offers various iO brush heads (c/d) designed exclusively for Oral-B iO toothbrush handles, enabling tooth-by-tooth precision cleaning. Most iO Oral-B brush heads feature INDICATOR® bristles that fade halfway approximately within 3 months of thorough brushing (twice daily for two minutes), indicating the need for replacement. If bristles splay before color fades, excessive pressure may be applied to teeth and gums.
It is generally recommended to replace the brush head every 3 months.
