Introduction
4. Introduction
The MPAGE4 console is a real-time voice announcement ("paging") console for desktop use, compatible with the Ecler DAM614 audio matrix. The control buttons, LED indicators, and gooseneck microphone allow you to select destination zones for messages, receive voice messages, and broadcast them in real-time to the destination zones.
The main features of the MPAGE4 console are:
- 4 zone selection buttons (ZONE 1 to ZONE 4) (3)
- 1 button for simultaneous selection of the 4 zones (ALL) (4)
- 1 voice message activation button (PAGE) (1)
- 6 LED status indicators (one per button)
- Configurable chime melody (6)
- Gooseneck microphone (5)
- RJ-45 connector for standard CAT5 cable connection, to the PAGER port of the DAM614 (7)
Installation and Connection
5. Installation and Connection
The installation of an MPAGE4 unit must follow these steps:
- Installation of the cabling using a standard CAT5 cable between the BASE connector of the MPAGE4 console (7) and the PAGER connector on the rear panel of the DAM614 unit.
RJ-45 Connector Wiring
Pin | Wire | Function |
---|---|---|
1 | White/Orange | MIC+ |
2 | Orange | MIC- |
3 | White/Green | GND |
4 | Blue | VCC (+10V) |
5 | White/Blue | ZONE 1 |
6 | Green | ZONE 2 |
7 | White/Brown | ZONE 3 |
8 | Brown | ZONE 4 |
This cable carries both the destination zone selection control signals and the audio signal from the gooseneck microphone and the chime melody, if activated. The phantom power required by the MPAGE4 unit to operate is also supplied from the DAM614 unit and through the same cable.

Chime Melody Activation
The 2 CHIME micro-switches (6) on the rear panel of the MPAGE4 console allow you to activate or deactivate the chime melody (both set to OFF), or to select a chime melody from three options by setting the positions (ON-OFF, OFF-ON, and ON-ON). Position ON = micro-switch down.
Level Adjustments
Under the unit's cover, there are two adjustment potentiometers:
- MIC (9): Microphone signal gain adjustment.
- CHIME (8): Chime melody signal level adjustment (0-100%).
The console microphone (5) is an electret cardioid type, mounted on a flexible and non-detachable gooseneck. It comes with an anti-pop foam windscreen.
The audio output is balanced and passes through pins 1, 2, and 3 of the RJ-45 connector on the rear panel of the unit; reception is at the DAM614 unit level.
Operation
6. Operation
Once the MPAGE4 unit is connected to the DAM614 unit, sending messages is done as follows:
- Select destination zones by pressing:
- The desired buttons, from ZONE 1 to ZONE 4 (3) (their LED indicators remain lit as long as the zone is selected).
- Or the ALL button (4), selecting all 4 zones at once (its LED indicator remains lit as long as the ALL selection is active).
- Press and hold the PAGE button (1) (a non-latching, "push to talk" type button) for the duration of the voice message into the integrated gooseneck microphone. The button's LED indicator (2) lights up when it is active (message active).
These are all mechanical latching buttons (activated when pressed once and deactivated when pressed again).
Note: If the chime melody is activated, it is recommended to wait a few moments (3-4 seconds) after pressing the PAGE button and before starting to speak, to avoid the voice message overlapping the chime melody.
3. If necessary, cancel the individual zone selection (ZONE 1 to 4) or collective (ALL) by pressing the respective buttons again and verifying that the LED indicators are off. If the selection is not canceled, the next message will be addressed to the currently selected active zones.
The DAM614 allows you to leave selected zones permanently active to always receive voice messages sent by the MPAGE4 unit, regardless of their selection via their buttons.
To do this, on the front panel of the DAM614, set the ZONE switch for the desired zone(s) to the ON position, then press the button for input 6. The corresponding indicator lights up blue to indicate that the selected zone has been permanently activated as PAGER.
Repeat the previous step for each zone you wish to activate permanently.
