If AC is Blocked by Storm Window:
Add wood as shown, or remove the storm window before installation. If the storm window frame remains, ensure drain holes are not caulked or painted shut. Accumulated rain water or condensation must be allowed to drain.
Installation Instructions
Prepare Air Conditioner for Installation:
- Attach Top Rail: Place the top rail on the air conditioner cabinet and align the holes. Secure with four 3/8" screws. (Note: Top rail may be pre-attached by manufacturer for 10K/12K models).
- Install Side Curtains: Slide the side curtains into the cabinet channels. Repeat for the left-hand curtain.
- Attach Adhesive Seal: Cut the adhesive seal to the width of the lower window sash. Remove the backing and attach the seal to the bottom of the lower window sash.
Window Air Conditioner Installation:
- Center the air conditioner in the window. Lower the window sash behind the top rail to hold the cabinet in place. Keep a firm grip and carefully place the unit into the window opening, ensuring the bottom of the frame is against the window sill and the unit is centered. Carefully close the window behind the top rail.
- Place the frame lock between the frame extensions and the window sill, securing with a 3/4" screw.
- To secure the lower sash, attach the right angle sash lock with a 3/4" screw.
- Attach Side Curtains to Window: Pull the left-hand curtain out to fit the window channel. Drill a starter hole through the top rail and insert a 3/4" screw through the curtain and into the window sash.
- Apply EVA Foam to the curtain housing to minimize air leaks and ensure optimal insulation. Repeat for the right-hand curtain.
Complete Installation:
- Insert foam seal behind the top of the lower window sash and against the glass of the upper window.
- Drill a starter hole through the hole in the top rail.
- Attach the top channel to the window sash with a 3/4" screw.
- Check the gap around the unit and seal it with the adhesive seal.
- Plug into a grounded 3-prong outlet.
- Press RESET on the power supply cord.
Air Conditioner Use
Operating your air conditioner properly ensures the best results.
Starting Your Air Conditioner:
- Press the power button to turn on the unit. The display will show the current set temperature and run in ECO control on first use.
- Select mode (Fan, Dry, Cool, Eco).
- Select fan speed (High, Med, Low).
- Set the temperature using the UP (Λ) or DOWN (V) buttons. The temperature adjusts by 1°F (1°C) increments.
Temperature Adjustment:
- Press UP (Λ) to raise temperature (up to 86°F/30°C).
- Press DOWN (V) to lower temperature (down to 61°F/16°C).
- To switch between °F and °C, press and hold both MODE and DOWN (V) buttons for 5 seconds.
Mode Selection:
- Fan: Only the fan runs. Select High, Med, or Low fan speed.
- Dry: Dries the room. The air conditioner automatically selects temperature and runs the fan on Low speed only. Not for cooling.
- Cool: Cools the room.
- Eco: Cools the room and saves energy. In ECO mode, the fan runs at low speed when the compressor is off. The fan will continue to run after the compressor shuts off for 2 minutes (4 minutes initially), then cycles with 10 minutes off and 2 minutes on until the room temperature rises above the set temperature.
Fan Speed:
Fan speed (High, Med, Low) can be selected when Cool, Fan, or Power Saver mode is active. Fan speed cannot be set in Dry mode.
Timer, Sleep, Filter:
- Timer: Set a 1-24 hour delay on/off operation by pressing the TIMER button and using the arrow buttons to adjust the time. Press TIMER again to confirm. Press TIMER to cancel.
- Sleep: In Cooling, Dry, or ECO modes, the set temperature may adjust by up to 4°F (2°C) over 2 hours. In Heating mode, it may decrease by 4°F (2°C). To turn off Sleep control, press SLEEP again or wait 8 hours for automatic shutoff. Fan speed is automatically set to LOW during Sleep control.
- Filter: When the Filter indicator light is on, remove, clean, and replace the air filter. Press the POWER button or FILTER button on the remote to reset the filter indicator. The light remains on for 180 hours or until the Clean Filter button is pressed.
WIFI Control (Optional):
Available for connected models with the WIFI logo. Press the CONNECT button for 5 seconds to start flashing. After connecting to the router, the LED stays on or off.
Changing Air Direction:
Use the Vertical Level Vane to direct air right or left. Use the whole cartridge to direct air up, down, or straight ahead.
Exhaust Air Vent:
Pull out the exhaust air vent control to open the vent and draw stale air from the room. Push in to close the vent for maximum cooling. (Note: Exhaust air vent control is not available for 6K/8K cooling only. It functions only when Fan Speed control is operating).
Normal Sounds:
- Droplets of water hitting the condenser (pinging/clicking sound).
- Air movement from the fan.
- Clicks from the thermostat cycle.
- Vibrations or noise due to poor wall/window construction.
- High-pitched hum or pulsating noise from the compressor cycling on and off.
Air Conditioner Care
Cleaning the Air Filter:
The air filter is removable for easy cleaning and helps remove dust and lint. Check the filter every 2 weeks. Do not operate without the filter.
- Turn off the air conditioner.
- Open the front panel and grasp the filter by the center, then pull up and out.
- Clean the filter with a vacuum cleaner. If very dirty, wash in warm water with mild detergent. Air dry completely. Do not use a dishwasher or chemical cleaners.
- Replace the filter and close the front panel.
Cleaning the Front Panel:
- Turn off the air conditioner.
- Clean the front panel with a soft, damp cloth.
- Air dry completely.
Repairing Paint Damage:
Check for paint damage annually, especially in coastal areas. Touch up with a good grade enamel paint if needed.
Annual Maintenance:
Annual maintenance ensures steady performance. Call your local authorized dealer for an annual checkup.
Troubleshooting
Air conditioner will not operate:
- Ensure the power supply cord is plugged into a grounded 3-prong outlet.
- If the power supply cord has tripped, press and release the RESET button.
- Check if a household fuse has blown or circuit breaker has tripped. Replace fuse or reset breaker.
- Ensure the Power button has been pressed.
- Check if there is a local power failure.
Air conditioner blows fuses or trips circuit breakers:
- Too many appliances may be on the same circuit. Unplug or relocate appliances.
- Ensure the correct capacity time-delay fuse or circuit breaker is used.
- Do not use an extension cord.
- Wait at least 3 minutes after turning off the air conditioner before restarting.
Air conditioner power supply cord trips (Reset button pops out):
- Electrical current disturbances can trip the cord. Press and release RESET.
- Electrical overloading, overheating, cord pinching, or aging can trip the cord. Correct the issue and press and release RESET.
- A damaged power supply cord must be replaced with a new one from the manufacturer.
Air conditioner seems to run too much:
- Newer, more efficient models may run longer but consume less energy.
- The room may be heavily occupied, or heat-producing appliances may be in use. Use exhaust fans and avoid using heat-producing appliances during hot periods. A higher capacity unit may be needed.
Air conditioner cycles on and off too much or does not cool:
- The air conditioner may not be properly sized for the room. It is not designed to cool multiple rooms.
- Clean the filter if it is dirty or obstructed.
- Clean the inside evaporator and outside condenser coils.
- Excessive heat or moisture in the room may require using exhaust fans and avoiding heat-producing appliances.
- Ensure louvers are not blocked by curtains, blinds, or furniture.
Water drips from cabinet into your house:
- Ensure the air conditioner is properly leveled, sloping slightly downward toward the outside for drainage.
- Do not drill a hole in the bottom of the metal base or condensate pan.
