Power Supply Cord
(Diagram showing power cord with Test and Reset buttons)
Recommended Grounding Method: This portable air conditioner must be grounded. It is equipped with a three-prong grounding plug. Plug into a mating, grounded three-prong outlet in accordance with local codes and ordinances. If a mating outlet is not available, it is the customer's responsibility to have a properly grounded three-prong outlet installed by a qualified electrical installer.
Customer's Responsibility: Contact a qualified electrical installer. Ensure electrical installation is adequate and conforms to the National Electrical Code, ANSI/NFPA 70, and all local codes and ordinances.
Note on Power Supply Cord: Your air conditioner's power supply cord contains advanced electronics that sense leakage current. If the cord is crushed, power will be disconnected in a fraction of a second. Test the cord by plugging it in, pressing RESET, then pressing TEST (it should trip), and finally pressing RESET again (it should latch). The Reset button must be pushed in for proper operation. Replace the cord if it fails to trip or reset. Do not use the cord as an on/off switch. Replace damaged cords with new ones from the manufacturer; do not repair.
Location Requirements
The flexible exhaust hose allows placement of the air conditioner at least 20" from the window or door.
Confirm you are using the correct size air conditioner for the space to be cooled, per sizing recommendations:
Area to be cooled (sq ft.) | DOE Capacity needed (BTUs) |
---|---|
Up to 10'x 20' (200 sq ft.) | 5,000/5,500 |
Up to 15'x 20' (300 sq ft.) | 6,000/6,500 |
Up to 20'x 20' (400 sq ft.) | 7,000/7,500 |
Up to 20'x 25' (500 sq ft.) | 8,000/8,500 |
Up to 20'x 30' (600 sq ft.) | 9,000/9,500 |
Note: Match BTUs to room use and location. Shaded rooms may need a smaller size. Sunny rooms or kitchens may need a larger size.
Installation Instructions
Unpack the Air Conditioner
WARNING: Excessive Weight Hazard
Use two or more people to move and install the air conditioner. Failure to do so can result in back or other injury.
- Do not use sharp instruments, rubbing alcohol, flammable fluids, or abrasive cleaners to remove tape or glue, as these can damage the surface.
- Handle the air conditioner gently.
- Keep the unit upright for at least 2 hours prior to use.
Remove Packaging Materials:
- Remove and recycle packaging materials.
- Remove tape and glue residue from surfaces. Rub a small amount of liquid dish soap over the adhesive with your fingers, wipe with warm water, and dry.
Caution: Installation accessories are stored in the top of the carton and are required for proper cooling performance. Remove all accessories from packing materials before use.
Window Vent Panel and Extensions
The window installation kit allows installation in most vertical-sliding windows (18" to 50" wide) or horizontal sliding windows (18" to 50" high).
Panel Length | H (18") | I (9") | J (18") | K (18") | Fig. |
---|---|---|---|---|---|
Window Length | |||||
18" | √ | a | |||

- Insert the vent panel assembly, including extension panels if needed, into the window opening. Extend extension panels if used.
- Cut foam seal A (non-adhesive type) to the window width. Stuff foam seal A between the glass and the window to prevent air and foreign objects from entering the room.
- If necessary, install the window-lock bracket with a type F screw.
- Insert the diffuser into the opening in the vent panel and slide to secure.
Portable Air Conditioner Use
Operating your portable air conditioner properly helps you obtain the best results. This section explains proper air conditioner operation.
Important:
- Do not stay in direct airflow for extended periods.
- Never use in tightly enclosed spaces. Ensure sufficient outside airflow, especially when used with combustible devices (gas stoves, fireplaces, furnaces, hot water heaters). Do not place the power cord or air conditioner near heaters, radiators, stoves, or other heat-producing apparatus.
- This air conditioner is intended for household use. Do not use it as a precision climate control for commercial use or for precision equipment, food, pets, plants, artwork, etc.
- Do not block or obstruct the exhaust vent hose, as it may affect performance or cause failure.
- The air conditioner display shows the current room temperature.
- When changing modes during operation, the compressor will stop for 3 to 5 minutes before restarting. Pressing a button during this time will delay restarting by another 3 to 5 minutes.
- In Cooling or Dry mode, the compressor and condenser fan stop when the room temperature reaches the set temperature.
- In Dry mode, humidity level is automatically set but not displayed.
Note: In the event of a power failure, the air conditioner will operate at the previous settings when power is restored.

- Ensure the filter and drain cap are in place.
- Check the power cord for cracks or damage.
- Install new batteries in the remote.
- Install the air conditioner (see "Installation Instructions").
Troubleshooting
Before calling for service, try the following suggestions.
Air conditioner will not operate
- Power supply cord is unplugged: Plug into a grounded 3-prong outlet.
- Incorrect fuse or circuit breaker: Replace with a fuse or circuit breaker of the correct capacity.
- Power supply cord has tripped (Reset button popped out): Press and release RESET. The button should latch and remain in.
- Household fuse blown or circuit breaker tripped: Replace fuse or reset circuit breaker.
- On/Off button not pressed: Press ON/OFF.
- Local power failure: Wait for power to be restored.
Air conditioner blows fuses or trips circuit breakers
- Too many appliances on the same circuit: Unplug or relocate appliances sharing the circuit.
- Trying to restart too soon: Wait at least 3 minutes after turning off the air conditioner before attempting to restart.
Air conditioner power supply cord trips (Reset button pops out)
- Electrical disturbances: Press and release RESET. The button should latch and remain in.
- Electrical overloading, overheating, cord pinching, or aging: After correcting the problem, press and release RESET. The button should latch and remain in. If the power cord fails to reset, contact a service technician.
Note: A damaged power supply cord must be replaced with a new one from the manufacturer and must not be repaired.
Air conditioner seems to run too much
- Door or window open: Keep doors and windows closed.
- Newer model comparison: Newer, more efficient units may run longer but consume less energy. They may not emit the same strong blast of cold air as older models, but this does not indicate less cooling capacity or efficiency. Refer to EER and capacity ratings.
- Heavily occupied room or heat-producing appliances: Use exhaust fans while cooking/bathing. Avoid heat-producing appliances during the hottest part of the day. Portable air conditioners provide supplemental cooling to local areas. A higher capacity unit may be needed depending on room size.
Air conditioner runs for a short time only, but room is not cool
- Set temperature too close to room temperature: Lower the set temperature.
Display error code
- Error code E5 (water container full): Drain the water (see "Draining the Air Conditioner"). The unit can then operate again.
- Error codes E1/E2/E3/E4/E6/E7/E9/EA: Contact customer service.
Air conditioner runs, but does not cool
- Filter dirty or obstructed: Clean the filter.
- Air outlet blocked: Clear the air outlet.
- Set temperature too high: Lower the set temperature.
Air conditioner cycles on and off too much
- Incorrect room sizing: Check the cooling capabilities of your portable air conditioner. Portable units provide supplemental cooling to local areas.
- Filter dirty or obstructed: Clean the filter.
- Excessive heat or moisture (cooking, showers): Use a fan to exhaust heat/moisture. Avoid heat-producing appliances during the hottest part of the day.
- Louvers blocked: Install the air conditioner where louvers are free from curtains, blinds, furniture, etc.
