Operating Instructions
1. Introduction
Thank you for choosing a Hama product. Take your time and read the following instructions and information completely. Please keep these operating instructions in a safe place for future reference. If you sell the device, please pass these operating instructions on to the new owner.
The device consists of two parts: a main sensor unit and a smaller magnetic contact unit. The main unit features a status LED and a reset button. The battery compartment is accessed by sliding a cover, revealing space for two AAA batteries and indicating correct polarity.
2. Packaging Contents

The packaging includes the main sensor unit, the magnetic contact unit, two AAA batteries, a quick guide, and a warning/safety instructions leaflet. Diagrams show the sensor components and battery installation.
3. Safety Instructions
General Safety:
- The product is intended for private, non-commercial use only.
- Protect the product from dirt, moisture, and overheating; use it only in dry environments.
- If operated outdoors, use only in protected outdoor areas.
- Do not attempt to service or repair the product yourself; leave all service work to qualified experts.
- Do not continue to operate the product if it is visibly damaged.
- Keep out of reach of children, as with all electrical products.
- Use the product only for its intended purpose.
- Do not use near heaters, other heat sources, or in direct sunlight.
- Do not use in areas where electronic products are not permitted.
- Do not drop the product or expose it to major shocks.
- Do not modify the product; doing so voids the warranty.
- Keep packaging material out of reach of children due to suffocation risk.
- Dispose of packaging material immediately according to local regulations.
- Do not operate outside the power limits specified in the technical data.
- Do not open the device or operate if damaged.
- Use only under moderate climatic conditions.
- Before mounting, check that the wall is suitable for the weight and ensure there are no hidden electric, water, gas, or other lines at the mounting site.
Warning - Batteries:
- Observe correct polarity (+ and - markings) when inserting batteries to prevent leakage or explosion.
- Use only batteries or rechargeable batteries of the specified type.
- Clean battery contacts and mating contacts before inserting batteries.
- Do not allow children to change batteries without supervision.
- Do not mix old and new batteries, or batteries of different types or manufacturers.
- Remove batteries from products not in use for extended periods (unless for emergency).
- Do not short-circuit batteries.
- Do not charge batteries.
- Do not burn batteries.
- Keep batteries out of reach of children.
- Never open, damage, swallow, or release batteries into the environment; they contain toxic heavy metals.
- Remove and dispose of spent batteries promptly.
- Avoid storing, charging, and using in extreme temperatures and low atmospheric pressures (e.g., high altitudes).
4. Installing the Hama Smart Home App
To use all device functions, you need a smartphone/tablet and the Hama Smart Home app.
Supported Operating Systems:
- iOS 12.0 or later
- Android 6.0 or later
Download the Hama Smart Home app from the App Store (iOS) or Google Play (Android) to your smartphone/tablet. Follow the on-screen instructions for installation and open the app. During setup, grant the app necessary permissions for full functionality. Register for a new account or log in with an existing one. Follow the app's setup instructions to add a new device.
The app installation process is illustrated with a QR code linking to https://link.hama.com/app/smart-home, the Hama app logo, and a smartphone screen showing login/registration options.

5. Product Properties
To commission the device:
- Place the 2 enclosed AAA batteries correctly in the battery compartment.
- Put the device in Pairing mode by holding the Reset button down for approximately 15 seconds. The LED will start to flash quickly.
6. Installation
The smart door/window contact can be secured using the enclosed adhesive pad.
Warning - Installation with adhesive
- Ensure the mounting surface is free from dust and grease. Use a suitable cleaner from a specialist retailer.
- The adhesive pads are intended to be permanent. Carefully pull the adhesive pad off the mounting surface to remove it.
- Various environmental influences (moisture, sunlight, cold) can impair the long-term stickiness of the adhesive pads.
- Possible residue on the mounting surface after removal of the adhesive pads cannot be ruled out.
7. Integrating Devices into the Hama Smart Home App
Pairing the central control unit
To pair the sensor with the Hama Smart Home App, you must first integrate a central control unit (e.g., 00176662, 00176637) into the app. Integrate the hub according to its operating instructions. Then, connect the sensor to the central control unit by selecting your central control unit from the list of found devices in the app. The app will then display a screen for adding devices.
Pairing sensor
- Open the housing of the smart door/window contact by sliding the cover.
- Hold the Reset button down for approximately 15 seconds. Ensure the status LED is flashing.
- In the app, press "Add secondary device".
- Confirm with "LED is already flashing".
- In the "Find device" screen, all devices found by the central control unit will be displayed. The search takes approximately 15 seconds; with poor connection or long distances, it may take up to 2 minutes.
- Press "Done" once your devices have been found.
8. Setting Options
The following settings can be made in the app:
- 1. Battery level indicator
- 2. Device status
- 3. Status history
- 4. Setting options for notification settings
For extended usage options, scenarios can be created in the app (see Section 9 and App Guide).
The app interface shows the battery level (100%), device status (e.g., 'OFF'), date/time, and options to view more details.
9. Extended Usage Options with Scenarios
Scenarios and automated sequences created in the app allow various combination and usage options, depending on other SmartHome products in your home. Programming is done via the app (see Section 4 of the App Guide) and suggestions are offered individually.
Standard Usage Examples:
- Door opens ➡️ Sensor detects opening ➡️ Notification sent to smartphone.
- Door opens ➡️ Sensor detects opening ➡️ Heating system turns off.
- Window is locked ➡️ Sensor detects window status ➡️ Door check confirmation.

11. Care and Maintenance
Note: Disconnect the device from the mains before cleaning and during prolonged periods of non-use.
Clean this product only with a slightly damp, lint-free cloth. Do not use aggressive cleaning products. Ensure that no water can enter the product.
