Function Description

In the GIRA Door Communication System System 106, the call button module is used for "intercom call" and "switching on" functions.

Scope of Delivery

Check that the package contents are complete and undamaged. In case of issues, refer to the warranty information.

1. Threaded sleeve [threaded sleeve] for fixing bolts

Installing the Module

The following work steps are listed in the installation instructions for the System 106 Surface-mounted Housing 1 to 5-gang:

Terminal Resistors

From the 2-gang System 106 surface-mounted housing onwards, there are always two terminal resistors. Terminal resistors are always inserted on the system cable of the first and last module.

Basic Configuration of Modules

The call button module can only be basically configured with a language or outdoor unit module via the controller (see "Assigning Call Buttons"). All devices (System 106 modules, indoor stations, controllers, etc.) must be installed beforehand for successful basic configuration.

Assigning Call Buttons

Programming Mode Activation: Press the "Systemprog." [Systemprog. Button] button for approx. 3 seconds until the LED [LED Orange] flashes.

Visual and Auditory Status Feedback via Language Module:

Procedure:

  1. Controller: Activate programming mode by pressing the "Systemprog." [Systemprog. Button] button for approx. 3 seconds until the LED [LED Orange] flashes.
  2. Call Button Module: Press and hold each call button for 3 seconds in the sequence specified in the indoor station.
  3. First Call Button: After 3 seconds, a short confirmation tone is heard; release the call button. A longer confirmation tone follows. Repeat step 3 for all other call buttons to be assigned.
  4. First Indoor Station: Press and hold the button for approx. 3 seconds. After the first short confirmation tone, release the button. A longer confirmation tone follows. The call button is successfully assigned to the indoor station.
  5. Repeat step 4 for all other indoor stations.
  6. Controller: End programming mode by briefly pressing the "Systemprog." [Systemprog. Button] button until the LED [LED Off] goes out.

Setting Intercom Volume

Programming Mode Activation: Press the "Systemprog." [Systemprog. Button] button for approx. 3 seconds until the LED [LED Orange] flashes.

  1. Controller: Activate programming mode by pressing the "Systemprog." [Systemprog. Button] button for approx. 3 seconds until the LED [LED Orange] flashes.
  2. Outdoor Unit Module: Briefly press the assigned call button.
  3. Indoor Station: Answer the call and start the intercom.
  4. Outdoor Unit Module: Briefly press the call button again.
    Volume Adjustment: During the intercom connection, press the button to adjust the volume (a total of five volume levels can be adjusted; preset to level 4). Each operation of the call button increases the volume by one level. (After reaching the highest volume level, it automatically switches to the lowest volume).
  5. Indoor Station: End the intercom connection. The last set volume is saved in the outdoor unit.
  6. Controller: End programming mode by briefly pressing the "Systemprog." [Systemprog. Button] button until the LED [LED Off] goes out.

Switching Button Operation Sound On or Off

Button operation sounds are switched off by default. Each assigned button automatically enables its button operation sound.

To Switch Off:

  1. Controller: Activate programming mode by pressing the "Systemprog." [Systemprog. Button] button for approx. 3 seconds until the LED [LED Orange] flashes.
  2. Call Button Module: Press and hold any call button for 6 seconds. After the second short confirmation tone (= 6 seconds), release the call button. A longer confirmation tone follows, and the button operation sounds for all call buttons are switched off.
  3. Controller: End programming mode by briefly pressing the "Systemprog." [Systemprog. Button] button until the LED [LED Off] goes out.

To Switch On Again: Repeat steps 1 to 3.

Background Lighting

Automatic Background Lighting

With background lighting activated, the background lighting is automatically switched on and off by the language or outdoor unit module depending on the ambient brightness. Background lighting is switched on by default.

The background lighting for each call button or all call buttons can be switched off and on.

Switching Off Background Lighting for a Single Button

  1. Controller: Activate programming mode by pressing the "Systemprog." [Systemprog. Button] button for approx. 3 seconds until the LED [LED Orange] flashes.
  2. Call Button Module: Press and hold any call button for 9 seconds. After the third short confirmation tone (= 9 seconds), release the call button. A longer confirmation tone follows, and all call buttons with activated background lighting are visible. Press any call button again: The background lighting for all call buttons on the module is switched off.
  3. Individual Call Button: Briefly press (no confirmation tone!) to switch the background lighting back on. Repeat this step for all call buttons for which background lighting should be switched on.
  4. Controller: End programming mode by briefly pressing the "Systemprog." [Systemprog. Button] button until the LED [LED Off] goes out.

Switching Off Background Lighting for All Buttons

  1. Controller: Activate programming mode by pressing the "Systemprog." [Systemprog. Button] button for approx. 3 seconds until the LED [LED Orange] flashes.
  2. Call Button Module: Press and hold a call button for 12 seconds. After the fourth short confirmation tone (= 12 seconds), release the call button. A longer confirmation tone follows. The background lighting is completely switched off.
  3. Controller: End programming mode by briefly pressing the "Systemprog." [Systemprog. Button] button until the LED [LED Off] goes out.

To Switch Background Lighting Back On: Repeat steps 1 to 3.

Operating the Module

Intercom Call

  1. Press the call button to initiate an intercom call on the corresponding indoor station. Button operation can be confirmed audibly (confirmation tone) and visually (background lighting).

Switching On Lighting (Requires Switch Actuator)

  1. Press the call button to switch on lighting or another appliance connected to a switch actuator.

Replacing the Start Button

Only applies to call button modules with a start button: The start button must be replaced with a separately labelable call button or a corresponding button cover.

Separately Labelable Call Buttons

Separately labelable call buttons are available via the GIRA Labeling Service (www.beschriftung.gira.de).

Deleting All Assignments

  1. Controller: Activate programming mode by pressing the "Systemprog." [Systemprog. Button] button for approx. 3 seconds until the LED [LED Orange] flashes.
  2. Call Button Module: Press and hold any call button for 18 seconds. After five short confirmation tones and one long confirmation tone (= 18 seconds), all assignments for all call buttons and all call button modules are deleted.
  3. Controller: End programming mode by briefly pressing the "Systemprog." [Systemprog. Button] button until the LED [LED Off] goes out.

Replacing the Label Field

For call buttons with a label field: The label field below the window can be replaced with any tool without disassembling the call button.

Note: The window is made of glass!

1. Open the housing and remove the function bracket.
2. Unlock the module and remove it from the function bracket.
3. Unscrew the screw using a screwdriver (blade width 2.5 x 0.4 mm) [screwdriver 2.5x0.4mm] and remove the commissioning button towards the front.
4. Install the call button from the front and secure it with the screw [screw] (tightening torque: 0.3 Nm).
5. Reassemble the module in reverse order.

Before inserting the nameplate and window, check that the seals [seals] are correctly seated. If necessary, press the seals into the correct position.

Label Field

Suitable label fields are available via the GIRA Labeling Service (www.beschriftung.gira.de).

Function Deletion

Delete Button Operation Sound

The button operation sound for the entire button call module can be reset. This can be done, for example, in case of incorrect call button assignment. Furthermore, the function of the call buttons is changed to switching operation.

  1. Controller: Activate programming mode by pressing the "Systemprog." [Systemprog. Button] button for approx. 3 seconds until the LED [LED Orange] flashes.
  2. Call Button Module: Press and hold a call button for 15 seconds. After the fifth short confirmation tone (= 15 seconds), release the call button. A longer confirmation tone follows, and the button operation sounds for all call buttons are deleted.
  3. Controller: End programming mode by briefly pressing the "Systemprog." [Systemprog. Button] button until the LED [LED Off] goes out.
  4. Delete incorrect or no longer required call button assignments via the indoor station as needed.

To reactivate the button operation sound, the call buttons of the module must be reassigned.
