Important Safety Instructions
General Precautions:
- Read all instructions before use.
- Keep instructions for future reference.
- Heed all warnings and follow all instructions.
- Do not use near water or expose to rain/moisture.
- Clean only with a dry cloth.
- Do not block ventilation openings.
- Do not install near heat sources.
- Ensure proper grounding and power cord protection.
- Refer all servicing to qualified personnel.
- Do not place naked flame sources (e.g., candles) on the apparatus.
- Dispose of the product and batteries responsibly according to WEEE directives and local regulations.
Electrical Safety:
- Terminals marked with a lightning symbol carry sufficient electrical current to constitute a risk of electric shock. Use only high-quality professional speaker cables.
- Do not remove covers; no user-serviceable parts inside.
- Ensure the apparatus is connected to a MAINS socket outlet with a protective earthing connection.
DR18SUB Controls
The DR18SUB features the following controls:
- BALANCED OUTPUTS (XLR): For sending balanced audio signals.
- BALANCED INPUTS (XLR): For receiving audio signals.
- SUBWOOFER LEVEL: Controls the final output volume.
- XOVER (Switch): Toggles between 90 Hz and 120 Hz crossover points.
- OUTPUTS MODE (Switch):
- LINK: Outputs full frequency range signal.
- XOVER: Outputs signal through a high-pass filter (90/120 Hz).
- SIGNAL LED: Lights green when an audio signal is present at the inputs.
- LIMIT LED: Lights red when the input signal overloads the inputs, activating the internal limiter.
- PHASE (Switch): Shifts the subwoofer's audio output by 180° to address phase cancellation problems.
- POWER LED: Lights blue when the subwoofer is switched on.
- POWER (Switch): Turns the subwoofer on and off.
- AC INPUT: Connection for the IEC power cable.
Getting Started
- Place your speaker(s) in desired locations.
- Make all necessary connections. DO NOT turn on the power yet.
- Set the SUBWOOFER LEVEL control to the full counterclockwise position.
- Turn on your audio sources connected to the subwoofer.
- Turn on your speaker(s) by pressing the POWER switch. The POWER LED will light up.
- While playing audio, adjust the SUBWOOFER LEVEL clockwise to your desired level. If the LIMIT LED lights continuously, turn the SUBWOOFER LEVEL back down until the LIMIT LED only lights occasionally.
- Press the OUTPUTS MODE switch to choose between LINK or XOVER modes.
- Use LINK mode to send a full-range signal to additional subwoofer/satellite sets.
- Select XOVER mode when connected to mid/high-frequency satellite speakers, so the subwoofer handles low frequencies while satellites handle mid/high frequencies.
- When in XOVER mode, press the XOVER button to select between 90 Hz or 120 Hz crossover points for optimal balance.
- Press the PHASE switch if you notice phase cancellation problems between the subwoofer and connected speakers.
