NEFF Range Hood Installation Instructions
Important Safety Information
⚠️ Danger of Death!
Risk of poisoning from flue gases that are drawn back in. Always ensure adequate fresh air in the room if the appliance is being operated in exhaust mode at the same time as a room air-dependent heat-producing appliance (e.g., gas, oil, wood, or coal heaters, continuous flow heaters, water heaters). These appliances draw combustion air from the room and discharge exhaust gases outside. If fresh air supply is insufficient, a partial vacuum is created, and toxic gases can be sucked back into living spaces. Ensure adequate fresh air at all times. A wall box alone is not sufficient. Safe operation requires negative pressure not exceeding 4 Pa (0.04 mbar). Consult a chimney sweep for ventilation assessment. Unrestricted operation is possible in circulating air mode.
Exhaust air must not be conveyed into a functioning smoke or exhaust gas flue or into a shaft used to ventilate installation rooms containing heating appliances. If conveying exhaust air into a non-functioning flue, obtain consent from the responsible heating engineer.
? Danger of Suffocation!
Packaging material is dangerous to children. Never allow children to play with packaging material.
⚡ Risk of Electric Shock!
Internal components may have sharp edges, potentially damaging the connecting cable. Do not kink or pinch the cable during installation. The appliance must be disconnectable from the power supply at all times. Connect only to a correctly installed protective contact socket. If the plug becomes inaccessible after installation, an all-pole isolating switch (min. 3mm contact gap) must be provided in the fixed electrical installation. Fixed electrical installation must be performed by a qualified electrician. A residual-current device (RCD) is recommended.
? Risk of Fire!
Grease deposits in the grease filter can ignite. Observe safety distances to prevent heat accumulation. Do not work with open flames near the appliance. Do not install near solid fuel appliances unless a closed, non-removable cover is available. Ensure no sparks are generated.
? Risk of Injury!
Internal components may have sharp edges. Wear protective gloves. The appliance may fall if not properly fastened. Secure all fastenings firmly. The appliance is heavy; two people are required for moving. Use suitable tools. Do not make electrical or mechanical modifications.
General Information
Exhaust Duct
The manufacturer is not liable for faults related to the ductwork. For optimal performance, use a short, straight exhaust pipe with the largest possible diameter. Long, rough pipes, many bends, or diameters smaller than 150 mm reduce performance and increase noise. Pipes and hoses must be made of non-combustible material. For external wall exhaust, use a telescopic wall box. Install the exhaust duct with a slight downward slope (1°) to prevent condensate damage.
Round pipes: Inner diameter of 150 mm recommended, minimum 120 mm.
Flat ducts: Inner cross-section must correspond to round pipe diameter (Ø150 mm approx. 177 cm², Ø120 mm approx. 113 cm²). Avoid sharp deflections. Use sealing strips for deviating pipe diameters.
Electrical Connection
Ensure the appliance is connected only to a correctly installed, earthed socket. The socket should ideally be inside the flue duct and on its own circuit. If the socket becomes inaccessible after installation, an all-pole isolating switch (min. 3mm contact gap) must be included in the installation.
Installation Preparation
Checking the Ceiling
The ceiling must be flat, horizontal, and adequately load-bearing. The maximum weight of the extractor hood is 20 kg.
Notes: A suitable substructure, securely fastened to the concrete ceiling, is required for mounting. Do not mount the ceiling ventilation directly onto plasterboard or similar lightweight materials in a suspended ceiling. Use a stable material suitable for the structural conditions and appliance weight.
Appliance Dimensions and Safety Clearances
Observe appliance dimensions (Fig. A) and safety clearances (Fig. B). If gas hob instructions specify a different distance, use the larger distance.

Preparing the Ceiling
The ceiling must be heat-resistant up to 90°C and maintain stability after cut-outs. Remove shavings after cutting.
- Make the cut-out in the ceiling (Fig. 1a).
- Affix the installation profiles (Fig. 1b).
Preparing the Appliance
- Open the filter cover (Fig. 2a).
- Remove the metal grease filter (Fig. 2b).
- Undo the screws in the motor unit (Fig. 2c).
- Turn the motor unit as appropriate for the installation area (Fig. 2d).
- Tighten the motor unit screws.
- Adapt holders to the ceiling thickness (Fig. 2e).
Installing the Appliance
Note: Ensure the filter cover is open during installation.
- Fully insert the appliance into the cut-out until the holders engage audibly (Fig. 3a).
- Tighten the screws in the holder (Fig. 3b).
Connecting the Appliance
Connecting the Exhaust Air Pipe
Note: A backflow flap should be fitted for exhaust-air operation. Obtain from a specialist retailer if not included. Use a telescopic wall box for external wall exhaust.
- Remove screws and open the flap downwards (Fig. 4a).
Notes: Open the flap as appropriate for the installation. If the motor unit is turned 90°, open both flaps.
- Attach the exhaust air pipe directly to the air pipe connector (Fig. 4b).
- Connect to the exhaust air opening.
- Use suitable means to seal the joints.
- Tighten the screws.
Connecting to the Mains
Plug the mains plug into the earthed socket.
Removing the Appliance
- Open the filter cover.
- Remove the metal grease filter.
- Undo the screws in the holder.
- Disconnect the appliance from the power supply.
- Remove the exhaust air pipe from the air pipe connector.
- Bleed the appliance.
