2. Getting Started
2-1 Overview
The DrivePro 250 features the following components:
- Bracket Socket: For attaching the mount.
- Memory Card Socket: For inserting the microSD card.
- Emergency Button: Activates Emergency Recording mode.
- Reset Button: Resets the device.
- USB Connector: For power and data transfer.
- GPS Receiver: Receives GPS signals for location data.
- Microphone: Records audio.
- Speaker: Outputs audio alerts.
- Lens: Captures video footage.
- Function Buttons: Control various device functions.
- LED Indicator: Shows device status.
- 2.4" LCD Display: Shows live view, settings, and recorded footage.
2-2 Inserting a microSD Memory Card
Before recording, insert a microSD memory card into the DrivePro's card slot.
WARNING: Always format new memory cards through the DrivePro before first use. Formatting erases all data. DrivePro 250 supports FAT32 file system only, not exFAT/NTFS.
To remove the card, push it to eject.
WARNING: Do not remove the memory card during shutdown to prevent data loss or damage.
2-3 Mounting the Dashcam
- Insert the mount bracket into the top of the dashcam and slide until it clicks.
- Clean the windshield area. Mount the dashcam in the middle of the windshield, near the rear-view mirror for the best view.
- Peel the protective film from the mount bracket's foam sticker and attach it firmly to the windshield.
- Turn the adjustment knob counter-clockwise to loosen, then adjust the dashcam's position.
- Turn the adjustment knob clockwise to secure the dashcam in place.
2-4 Connecting to Power
- Connect one end of the car lighter adapter to the DrivePro's micro USB port.
- Connect the other end of the adapter to your car's power outlet.
- The dashcam automatically turns on and starts recording when the car engine is switched on.
- When the car engine is switched off, the dashcam saves the current recording and powers off.
Note: Insert a microSD card before connecting to power. Some car power outlets supply power even when the engine is off; unplug the dashcam in such cases to avoid unnecessary power consumption.
2-5 Function Buttons
The dashcam has four function buttons (A, B, C, D) for various modes:

- Press and hold the Power button for 3 seconds to manually turn the DrivePro on/off.
- Long press the Microphone button to quickly turn the microphone on/off.
- Long press the Settings button to quickly enter the Time-Lapse Video menu.

2-7 Setting the Date and Time
Set the date and time correctly for accurate recording timestamps.
- During video recording, press the Settings button ⚙️.
- Use the Up/Down arrows ⬆️⬇️ to select "Date/Time" and press OK.
- Use the Up/Down arrows ⬆️⬇️ to adjust values and press OK to move to the next field.
- Repeat step 3 until all date and time settings are complete.
2-8 Setting UTC Timezone
To ensure GPS data accuracy, set the UTC timezone after setting the date and time.
- During video recording, press the Settings button ⚙️.
- Use the Up/Down arrows ⬆️⬇️ to select "UTC" and press OK.
- Use the Up/Down arrows ⬆️⬇️ to adjust values and press OK.
3. Recording Videos
3-1 Recording Screen
The recording screen displays the following indicators:
- 1. Recording status indicator
- 2. Video length
- 3. Video resolution / Frame rate
- 4. WiFi connection indicator
- 5. GPS connection indicator
- 6. Voice record status
- 7. Battery status
- 8. Date / Time
The DrivePro automatically turns on and starts recording when the car engine is switched on. By default, one video file is saved per minute. Adjust recording length in the Settings menu ⚙️. The dashcam saves the current recording and powers off when the car engine is switched off.
3-2 Emergency Recording
30% of storage is reserved for emergency video files, which are protected from overwriting.
Manual Emergency Recording:
During video recording, press the emergency button on the left side of the DrivePro to activate Emergency Recording mode. An emergency icon will appear on the screen.
G-Sensor Emergency Recording:
The DrivePro automatically activates Emergency Recording mode when it detects a collision or hit. G-Sensor sensitivity can be adjusted in the Settings menu ⚙️. Higher sensitivity triggers recording on minor shocks; lower sensitivity requires significant shocks.
3-3 Parking Mode Recording
After the car engine is switched off, the DrivePro can enter Parking mode to record footage upon detecting motion or collision. Parking mode is disabled by default and can be enabled in the Settings menu ⚙️.
Note: Enabling Parking mode may drain the DrivePro's built-in battery.
During Parking mode, the LCD display turns off, and the LED indicator remains solid red. If motion or collision is detected, the dashcam records for about 15 seconds, the display turns on, and the LED flashes red. If no motion is detected for approximately 15 seconds, the display turns off again. Normal Recording mode resumes when the engine is switched on and the device is connected to power.
Transcend's car lighter adapter does not supply power after the engine is switched off. For long-term parking recording, use an external power supply. Enter Parking mode manually by long-pressing the Power button ⚡. To power off the DrivePro, long-press the Power button ⚡ again.
Low Battery: Connect the DrivePro to power immediately when the "Low Battery" warning appears to avoid system time errors. Avoid using the built-in battery for recording.
4. Browsing Photos and Playing Videos
4-1 Playing Videos / Browsing Photos
- During video recording, press the Browse button ?️.
- Use the Up/Down arrows ⬆️⬇️ to select "Normal", "Emergency", or "Snapshot" and press OK.
- Use the Up/Down arrows ⬆️⬇️ to select the desired video file and press OK.
- Press Play/Pause ▶️⏸️ to control playback.
- Press Back ↩️ to return to the video file list.
4-2 Deleting Videos
- During video playback, press the Delete button ?️.
- Select "Yes" using the Up/Down arrows ⬆️⬇️ and press OK to delete the file.
4-3 Protecting Videos
- During normal video playback, press the Lock button ?.
- Select "Yes" using the Up/Down arrows ⬆️⬇️ and press OK to protect the file.
5. Settings
The Settings menu ⚙️ allows adjustment of video resolution, recording time, G-Sensor sensitivity, date/time/timezone, interface language, memory card formatting, and firmware upgrades.
- During video recording, press the Settings button ⚙️.
- Use the Up/Down arrows ⬆️⬇️ to select a menu option and press OK.
- Use the Up/Down arrows ⬆️⬇️ to select a desired setting and press OK.
- Press Back ↩️ to return to the Settings menu ⚙️.

5-2 Firmware Upgrade
- After downloading firmware from Transcend's website, decompress it and place the file in the "SYSTEM" folder of the microSD card.
- Insert the microSD card with the latest firmware into the DrivePro.
- Connect the DrivePro to an external power source. Select "Upgrade Firmware" from the Settings menu ⚙️ and press OK. The DrivePro will detect the latest firmware file. Select "Confirm" to complete the upgrade.
Note: Firmware upgrade takes 1-2 minutes. Do not turn off the DrivePro during the upgrade. It will restart automatically upon completion.
WARNING: Never remove the power cord or microSD card during firmware upgrade. If the DrivePro fails to turn on due to upgrade failure, contact Transcend customer service.
6. Using the DrivePro App
The free DrivePro App (for iOS and Android) allows wireless live-view, control of DrivePro functions, and direct video playback on your smartphone or tablet.

6-1 Downloading and Installing the DrivePro App
- Search "DrivePro" on the App Store or Google Play.
- Download and install the DrivePro App. It will appear on your device's home screen upon completion. Refer to the DrivePro App instructions before use.
6-2 Connecting to the DrivePro
Connect your mobile device to the DrivePro using one of these methods:
- Option 1: Scan the WiFi QR code on the dashcam. Press the Power button ⚡ on the DrivePro and scan the QR code displayed on the dashcam's screen with your mobile device.
- Option 2: Select the WiFi signal. On your mobile device, go to Settings > WiFi. Select the WiFi network with "DP250" in the SSID (default password: 12345678).
Note: This feature requires firmware v3.2 or later.
After connecting, tap the DrivePro App icon on your mobile device to connect to the DrivePro 250. A specific connection image will be displayed.
Note: It is recommended to change the DrivePro's WiFi password upon first connection. Change the default SSID password in the DrivePro App's Settings.

7. DrivePro Toolbox Software
The DrivePro Toolbox (for Windows and macOS) provides a user-friendly interface to select, play, and view driving paths of recorded videos on maps without needing extra codecs.
System requirements: A desktop or laptop with a working USB port, Microsoft Windows 10 or later, or macOS 10.12 or later.

- Install DrivePro Toolbox software on your computer.
Main Features:
- Video Sorting: Sort videos by filename, date, or group for efficient searching and playback.
- Smooth Video Playback: Play back recorded events on your computer using the DrivePro or a microSD card reader.
- Edit and Trim Videos: Select, trim, and save video clips, or capture snapshots during playback.
- Map View: View driving paths on maps alongside recorded video. (Requires GPS receiver; compatible with DrivePro 550, 520, 250, 230, 220).
- License Plate Recognition: Automatically identify license plates in videos for quick searches. (Available on Windows 64-bit only).
- Export Merged Videos: Play videos from front and rear lenses simultaneously. (Available on dual lens models: DP550/DP520).
8. Transferring Files to a Computer
Remove the microSD memory card from the dashcam and insert it into a compatible card reader to transfer files to your computer.
9. Troubleshooting
If you encounter issues, consult the following before sending for repair. If a solution is not found, contact the store, service center, or Transcend's technical support via their website for FAQs and support.
- Buttons not responding / Dashcam crashes or lags: Try unplugging and reconnecting the car adapter.
- Cannot play videos stored in memory card: Edited videos may not display correctly.
- Nothing happens when pressing "Emergency button": Emergency Recording works only in Recording mode.
10. Safety Cautions
Follow these important guidelines for your safety and to protect your DrivePro from damage.
General Use:
- For in-car use only.
- Do not operate the DrivePro or App while driving.
- Avoid extreme temperatures.
- Avoid exposure to water or liquids.
- Do not use in environments with strong magnetic fields or excessive vibration.
- Use only the provided Transcend car adapter.
- Unplug the dashcam if your car's power outlet remains active after the engine is off to prevent unnecessary power consumption.
- GPS performance may be affected by environmental factors (buildings, tinted films, weather). Transcend does not guarantee GPS accuracy.
Mounting Location:
- Do not obstruct the driver's view or airbag deployment zones.
- Mount within the windshield wiper range for clear visibility in rain.
- WARNING: Remove the DrivePro carefully from tinted windows to prevent tint damage.
Backing up Data:
- Transcend is not responsible for data loss or damage. Regularly back up data from the memory card to a computer or other storage medium.
WARNING: Rechargeable batteries can leak under extreme conditions. Misuse or abuse can lead to overheating, fire, explosion, or smoke emission.
