CHORUSMART Connected Axial Dimmer Module
Model Numbers: GWA1221, GWA1222
General Information
The CHORUSMART Connected Axial Dimmer Module is a flush-mounting device designed for controlling and regulating various types of lamps (incandescent, halogen, LED, fluorescent) and loads powered by electronic transformers. It operates using trailing edge load control mode.
The device features two axial push-buttons on the front for switching (short press) and brightness regulation (long press). It supports Zigbee connectivity, acting as a "router" to forward ZigBee messages within the network. It can be paired and controlled via ZigBee with other connected ZigBee devices, including the 4-command push-button panel (GWA1291).
It includes two auxiliary inputs that can be used for local control or sending ZigBee commands/statuses. These inputs can connect to auxiliary axial commands, traditional push-buttons, switches, or sensors.
If button keys are not installed, the front push-button can be accessed using insulated tools (up to 2500V AC) for ZigBee network operations (opening/closing) and factory reset.
Notes
The device requires completion with specific front button keys (available with diffuser or for lens insertion, lens codes GW105xxA). GWA1221 requires GW1x553S or GW1x557S keys. GWA1222 requires GW1x554S or GW1x558S keys.
Functions
- ON/OFF: Controls the connected load.
- Relative Brightness Regulation: Adjusts brightness by long-pressing front buttons (up/down).
- Absolute Brightness Regulation: Sets brightness via the Home Gateway app.
- Timed ON/OFF: Turns the load ON for a user-defined duration.
- Scene: Stores and executes up to 16 predefined lighting scenes.
- Presence/Movement Sensor Association: Activates the load upon detection by a remote sensor (up to 5 sensors supported).
- Binary Sensor Association: Activates/deactivates the load based on a remote binary sensor's status (up to 5 sensors supported).
- Auxiliary Inputs: Two independent inputs for local control or sending ZigBee commands. Can be connected to phase or neutral.
- Dual Function (SHIFT): When used with an EGO SMART PLATE, allows each front button to trigger a second distinct ZigBee command or scene.
Status Notifications (LED)
- Fixed Red: Device not configured.
- Flashing Red: Overload alarm.
- Fixed Yellow: Device start-up or overtemperature alarm.
- Fixed Blue (100%): Normal operation, load ON.
- Fixed Blue (50%): Normal operation, load OFF.
- Flashing Blue: Brightness regulation in progress.
- Fixed Green: ZigBee network opening.
- Alternating Green/Red: Reset to default.
Alarms
Overload: If excessive absorption is detected, the load is deactivated, and the LED flashes red. After resolving the cause, send a command to the device; it will test the condition and bring the load to maximum brightness for 15 seconds (LED flashes red). If resolved, the load returns to the requested state.
Overtemperature: If internal overheating is detected, the load is reduced to 10% brightness, and the LED turns fixed yellow. The device only accepts OFF commands. The LED remains yellow until the alarm resolution is verified. After resolving the cause, send a command; the device brings the load to maximum brightness for 15 seconds (LED flashes yellow). If the temperature remains below the threshold, the load returns to the requested state.
ZigBee Network Operations
Opening/Closing ZigBee Network: Press the front push-button once to open the network (Permit Join activation), allowing other devices to join. The LED turns green. Press again to close. The network automatically closes 15 minutes after opening.
Factory Reset: Press and hold the central local push-button (if keys are removed) for over 10 seconds to reset the device to factory conditions.
Power Supply Failure and Reset Behavior
During a power failure, the connected load is disconnected. Upon power restoration, the device performs a start-up procedure (indicated by a fixed yellow LED). The load status returns to its previous state or a pre-configured state.
Assembly
ATTENTION: Operations must be performed with the system de-energized.
Refer to connection diagrams (Fig. L) and terminal layouts (Fig. D/H). Terminals are numbered:
- Dimmed output
- Not connected
- Auxiliary input 2
- Auxiliary input 1
- Power supply phase
- Power supply neutral
ATTENTION: Ensure an F1AH 250V AC fuse is installed on the phase line.
Further Restrictions
- Wires must be pushed fully into the box to prevent contact with dimmer walls (Fig. O).
- Do not install thermostats or timed thermostats next to the dimmer (Fig. N).
- Max 1 regulator per round/square box.
- Max 2 regulators per rectangular box; if 2 are installed, maximum loads must be reduced by 50% (Fig. M).
- Multiple products side-by-side in the same enclosure require a blanking module between them (Fig. M).
- The regulator lacks mechanical cut-out and does not provide galvanic separation. The load-side circuit is always considered live.
Programming
To program and use the dimmer and smart home system, download the "Home Gateway App" from the Play Store or App Store.
