Important Information and Precautions
General Precautions:
- Do not install the product in a confined space, such as a bookcase or built-in cabinet.
- Do not expose batteries to excessive heat, such as sunshine or fire.
- Do not subject batteries to extreme low temperature conditions that may result in overheating and thermal runaway.
- Do not dismantle, open, or shred secondary batteries.
- If a secondary battery leaks, do not allow the liquid to contact skin or eyes. Wash affected areas with copious amounts of water and seek medical advice.
- Secondary batteries need to be charged before use. Refer to the manufacturer's instructions for proper charging.
- After extended storage, charge and discharge batteries several times for maximum performance.
- Dispose of properly.
Recycling Rechargeable Batteries:
Rechargeable batteries are recyclable. Return used batteries to a collection and recycling location. For more information, visit http://www.sony.com/electronics/eco/environmental-management.
Caution: Do not handle damaged or leaking rechargeable batteries.
FCC Compliance (United States):
This device complies with Part 15 of the FCC Rules. Operation is subject to two conditions: (1) this device may not cause harmful interference, and (2) this device must accept any interference received, including interference that may cause undesired operation.
This unit has been tested and found to comply with the limits for a Class B digital device, pursuant to Part 15 of the FCC Rules. These limits provide reasonable protection against harmful interference in a residential installation. If this unit causes harmful interference to radio or television reception, try to correct it by:
- Reorienting or relocating the receiving antenna.
- Increasing the separation between the unit and receiver.
- Connecting the unit to an outlet on a different circuit from the receiver.
- Consulting the dealer or an experienced radio/TV technician.
This unit must not be co-located or operated with any other antenna or transmitter.
ISED Compliance (Canada):
This unit contains licence-exempt transmitter(s)/receiver(s) that comply with Innovation, Science and Economic Development Canada's licence-exempt RSS(s). Operation is subject to two conditions: (1) this unit may not cause interference; and (2) this unit must accept any interference, including interference that may cause undesired operation.
RF Exposure:
The available scientific evidence does not show that any health problems are associated with using low power wireless devices. Low power wireless devices emit low levels of radio frequency energy (RF). While high levels of RF can produce health effects (by heating tissue), exposure of low-level RF that does not produce heating effects causes no known adverse health effects. This unit has been tested and found to comply with FCC/ISED radiation exposure limits set forth for an uncontrolled environment and meets the FCC radio frequency (RF) Exposure Guidelines and RSS-102 of the ISED radio frequency (RF) Exposure rules.
Safety Precautions:
- High volume may adversely affect your hearing.
- Do not use the unit while walking, driving, or cycling, as this may cause traffic accidents.
- Do not use in hazardous areas unless the surrounding sound can be heard.
- If water or foreign matter enters the unit, stop use immediately and consult your nearest Sony dealer to prevent fire or electric shock. Be careful near sinks, liquid containers, in rain or snow, or in humid locations.
- Ensure earbud tips are securely attached before use to prevent them from falling off and remaining inside the ear.
- Never insert the USB plug when the unit or charging cable is wet.
- This product contains magnets that may interfere with pacemakers, programmable shunt valves, or other medical devices. Consult your doctor before use if you use such medical devices.
- This product has magnets. Swallowing magnets can cause serious harm. Keep this product away from children to prevent accidental ingestion.
- There is a danger that the unit or its small parts may be swallowed. Store the unit in the charging case and keep it out of reach of small children.
Note about Static Electricity:
If you experience discomfort due to static electricity in dry air, it is not a unit malfunction. Wearing clothes made of natural materials can reduce the effect.
Voice Guidance:
The factory default setting for voice guidance is English. Voice guidance is provided for low battery, battery empty, and pairing mode.
Precautions on Water Resistance:
- The charging case is not water resistant.
- Use the unit correctly to prevent water from entering and causing fire, electrocution, or malfunctions.
- Do not splash water forcibly into sound output holes.
- Do not drop the unit into water or use it underwater.
- Do not allow the unit to remain wet in cold environments, as water may freeze. Wipe off water after use.
- Do not place the unit in water or use it in humid places like bathrooms.
- Do not drop the unit or expose it to mechanical shock, as this can deteriorate water resistance performance.
Precautions on BLUETOOTH® Communications:
- Microwaves from Bluetooth devices may affect electronic medical devices. Turn off this unit and other Bluetooth devices in hospitals, near priority seating on trains, in locations with inflammable gas, near automatic doors, or near fire alarms.
Precautions on Charging the Unit:
- Do not attach metallic objects to the wireless charger or the unit.
- When using wireless charging, remove the charging case cover and do not place metallic objects on the wireless charger.
- If unusual occurrences happen during wireless charging (odor, sound, smoke, overheating, deformation), safely remove the unit from the wireless charger.
- If you have implanted medical electric devices, consult your doctor before using the wireless charging pad, as radio waves may affect their operation.
- Be sure to use the supplied USB Type-C cable.
Notes on Wearing the Unit:
- Remove headphones slowly after use. Forcibly pressing or quickly pulling out earbud tips can damage eardrums.
- A click sound from the speaker diaphragm when wearing earbud tips is not a malfunction.
On the Earbud Tips (Noise Isolation Earbud Tips):
- Earbud tips fit within the ear, increasing the risk of ear canal irritation. Discontinue use if discomfort occurs.
- Earbud tips are consumables and may deteriorate or break with long-term use. Deteriorated tips compromise audio performance and noise canceling. Replace them regularly.
- If an earbud tip becomes damaged (cracking, peeling, chipping, torn mesh), a part of it may remain in your ear, causing injury or illness. Replace damaged tips immediately.
- Avoid washing with water, wet wipes, or organic solvents like alcohol, as these can cause premature deterioration.
Other Notes:
- If you experience discomfort while using the unit, stop using it immediately.
- For questions not covered in this manual, consult your nearest Sony dealer.
