Sony WF-1000XM5 Wireless Noise Canceling Stereo Headset
This document provides essential safety information, precautions, and technical specifications for the Sony WF-1000XM5 Wireless Noise Canceling Stereo Headset (Model: YY2963).
Important Safety Precautions
General Handling and Battery Safety
- Do not install the product in confined spaces like bookcases or built-in cabinets.
- Avoid exposing batteries to excessive heat (sunshine, fire) or extreme low temperatures that could cause overheating or thermal runaway.
- Do not dismantle, open, or shred secondary batteries.
- In case of battery leakage, prevent liquid contact with skin or eyes. If contact occurs, wash the affected area with water and seek medical advice.
- Charge rechargeable batteries before use, following manufacturer instructions.
- After long storage, multiple charge/discharge cycles may be needed for maximum performance. Dispose of batteries properly.
- Keep the product and its small parts away from children to prevent accidental ingestion or choking hazards. Store the unit in its charging case out of reach of children after use.
Water Resistance
- Caution: The charging case is not water resistant.
- To maintain water resistance, avoid splashing water into sound output holes, dropping the unit into water, or using it underwater.
- Do not leave the unit wet in cold environments where water may freeze. Wipe off any water after use.
- Avoid placing the unit in water or using it in humid places like bathrooms.
- Do not drop the unit or expose it to mechanical shock, as this can damage it and degrade water resistance.
Bluetooth® Communications and Medical Devices
- Microwaves from Bluetooth devices may affect electronic medical devices. Turn off this unit and other Bluetooth devices in sensitive locations such as hospitals, near priority seating on trains, near flammable gas, automatic doors, or fire alarms.
- This product contains magnets that may interfere with pacemakers, programmable shunt valves, or other medical devices. Consult your doctor before use if you use such devices.
Charging Precautions
- Warning: Failure to follow these precautions may cause fire, burns, injury, or electric shock.
- Do not attach metallic objects to the wireless charger or the unit.
- When using wireless charging, remove the charging case cover and do not place metallic objects on the wireless charger.
- If unusual occurrences (odor, sound, smoke, overheating, deformation) happen during wireless charging, safely remove the unit from the charger.
- If you have implanted medical devices (e.g., pacemakers), consult your doctor before using the wireless charging pad, as radio waves may affect their operation.
- Always use the supplied USB Type-C cable.
Wearing and Earbud Tips
- Remove headphones slowly after use.
- Forcibly pressing earbud tips in or pulling them out quickly can damage eardrums.
- A click sound from the speaker diaphragm when wearing earbud tips is normal and not a malfunction.
- Earbud tips are fitted inside the ear, increasing the risk of ear canal irritation. Discontinue use if discomfort occurs.
- Earbud tips are consumables and can deteriorate or break with prolonged use. Damaged tips can compromise audio performance (sound quality, noise canceling). Replace them regularly.
- If an earbud tip is damaged (cracked, peeled, chipped, torn mesh), it or a part of it may remain in the ear, causing injury. Replace damaged tips immediately.
- Avoid washing earbud tips with water, wet wipes, or organic solvents like alcohol, as these can cause premature deterioration.
Static Electricity
- Discomfort from static electricity in dry air is not a unit malfunction. Wearing clothes made of natural materials can reduce this effect.
Voice Guidance
The factory default voice guidance language is English. Guidance is provided for low battery ("Low battery", "Battery is empty") and pairing mode ("Pairing").
