KALLAX Shelf Unit

Assembly Instructions

Important Safety Information

⚠️ WARNING! Serious or fatal crushing injuries can occur from furniture tip over. To prevent tip over, this furniture must be used with the wall attachment device(s) provided.

Screw(s) and plug(s) for the wall are not included. Use screw(s) and plug(s) suitable for your walls. If you are uncertain, seek professional advice. Read and follow each step of the instruction carefully.

Assembly Steps

  1. Step 1: Prepare Side Panel for Wall Attachment

    Attach one wall bracket (Part #121030) to a side panel using two screws (Part #104322). Ensure the bracket is oriented correctly as shown in the diagram.

  2. Step 2: Insert Dowels into Side Panel

    Insert sixteen dowels (Part #101339) into the designated holes on one of the main side panels. Gently tap with a hammer if needed.

  3. Step 3: Insert Dowels into Shelf Panel

    Insert twelve dowels (Part #101345) into the designated holes on a shelf panel. Gently tap with a hammer if needed.

  4. Step 4: Insert Dowels into Shelf Panel

    Insert sixteen dowels (Part #101339) into the designated holes on another shelf panel. Gently tap with a hammer if needed.

  5. Step 5: Insert Dowels into Shelves

    Insert eight dowels (Part #101345) into the designated holes on two shelf panels. Gently tap with a hammer if needed.

  6. Step 6: Attach First Shelf

    Align the shelf with the dowels (from Step 2) and connect it to the side panel. Ensure a snug fit.

  7. Step 7: Attach Second Shelf

    Align the shelf with the dowels (from Step 3) and connect it to the side panel. Ensure a snug fit.

  8. Step 8: Attach Third Shelf

    Align the shelf with the dowels (from Step 4) and connect it to the side panel. Ensure a snug fit.

  9. Step 9: Attach Fourth Shelf

    Align the shelf with the dowels (from Step 5) and connect it to the side panel. Ensure a snug fit.

  10. Step 10: Attach Fifth Shelf

    Align the shelf with the dowels (from Step 5) and connect it to the side panel. Ensure a snug fit.

  11. Step 11: Attach Remaining Shelves

    Continue attaching the remaining shelves using the appropriate dowels (Part #101339) and ensuring they are securely fitted into the side panel.

  12. Step 12: Attach Second Side Panel

    Attach the second main side panel to the assembled shelves. Use the wall bracket (Part #121030) and screws (Part #104322) on this side as well, mirroring Step 1.

  13. Step 13: Attach Back Panel

    Slide the back panel into the grooves. Secure the back panel using screws (Part #104332) and the provided tool (Part #100092).

  14. Step 14: Attach Base Pads

    Attach the hexagonal pads (Part #10002300) to the bottom of the unit using the provided method (likely adhesive or press-fit, indicated by arrow and quantity 8x).

  15. Step 15: Attach Wall Mounting Hardware to Unit

    Attach the wall mounting brackets (Part #115753) to the top rear of the shelf unit using screws (Part #100372). Ensure they are level and securely fastened.

  16. Step 16: Level the Unit

    Use a spirit level to ensure the unit is perfectly level before proceeding with wall mounting.

  17. Step 17: Mark Wall for Mounting

    Hold the unit against the wall in its final position. Mark the wall through the holes in the wall mounting brackets (Part #115753) to indicate where to drill.

  18. Step 18: Install Wall Brackets

    Install the wall hook brackets (Part #103693) onto the wall at the marked locations. Ensure they are securely fastened into the wall studs or using appropriate wall anchors (not included).

  19. Step 19: Hang Unit on Wall Brackets

    Carefully lift the shelf unit and hang it onto the installed wall hook brackets (Part #103693). Ensure it is stable and secure.
