Safety First: Preventing Tip-Over Injuries ⚠️

WARNING! Serious or fatal crushing injuries can occur if furniture tips over. To prevent this, this furniture MUST be secured to the wall using the provided anti-tip hardware.

Important: Screws and plugs for the wall are NOT included. You must use screws and plugs suitable for your specific wall type. If you are unsure, consult a professional.

Read and follow all instructions carefully before and during assembly.

Assembly Steps

The KALLAX unit can be assembled in various configurations (e.g., vertical or horizontal). The following steps cover the general frame assembly and critical wall mounting.

1. Step 1: Prepare Side Panels

   Insert 12 cam lock screws (118331) into the pre-drilled holes on the two long side panels.

2. Step 2: Assemble Frame Structure

   Connect the short side panels and shelves to one long side panel using the cam lock screws. Insert 12 cam locks (119250, etc.) into the corresponding holes on the shelves and short side panels, and turn them clockwise to secure.

3. Step 3: Attach Second Side Panel

   Attach the second long side panel to the assembled structure, securing it with the remaining cam locks.

4. Step 4: Insert Back Panels

   Slide the two back panel pieces into the grooves on the rear of the unit.

5. Step 5: Attach Top Bracket and Dowels

   Using the hex key (100092) and 8 long screws (104321, 104322), attach the wall mounting bracket (121030) to the top edge of the unit. Insert 6 wooden dowels (100372) into the designated holes on the frame.

6. Step 6: Apply Decorative Covers

   Place the 2 hexagonal decorative covers (10002300) onto the exposed screw heads on the top of the unit.

7. Step 7: Prepare for Wall Mounting

   Attach the 3 wall attachment brackets (115753) to the rear of the KALLAX unit using the provided screws. The exact placement may vary depending on the unit's configuration (vertical/horizontal).

8. Step 8: Secure Unit to Wall

   This is a critical safety step. Position the unit against the wall where you intend to place it. Mark the wall through the holes in the wall attachment brackets (115753). Move the unit away from the wall. Drill holes at the marked locations and insert appropriate wall plugs (103693) for your wall type. Re-position the unit and secure it to the wall using the screws (115754, etc.) through the brackets and into the wall plugs. Ensure the unit is level using a spirit level.
