Safety and Installation Notes
- ⚠️ Caution: The mains voltage must match the rated input voltage of the unit (230 VAC).
- ⚠️ CAUTION GROUNDING!! Chassis must be grounded and disconnected from line power before any RF connections are made. Improper grounding may result in irreversible damage of the equipment.
- Connecting cable: Lay cables to prevent tripping hazards and ensure water condensation drips away from the unit.
- Installation location: Avoid excessive temperatures, radiators, or heating systems.
- Moisture: Protect the unit from water dripping or splashing. Wait for condensation to evaporate before powering on.
- ⚠️ Caution - danger!: Satellite antenna systems must comply with EN 60728-1 safety requirements regarding grounding and potential equalization.
- Service work: Only qualified personnel should perform service work, always disconnecting the supply voltage first.
- Ambient temperature: Not greater than 50 °C.
- ⚠️ Thunderstorms: Avoid service work during thunderstorms.
- ⚠️ Caution - danger!: Fuses may only be replaced by qualified personnel with fuses of the same type and rating.
- Batteries: Do not throw exhausted batteries in the garbage. They must be disposed of separately.
- All packing materials (cardboard boxes, packing notes, plastic films and plastic bags) can be recycled.

Mounting Options
Wall Mounting
For wall mounting of the OH50 chassis, use the supplied angle brackets and screws (M4x6). Fix brackets on both sides.
Wall Mounting Versions:
- If cables are fed from above, use the specific wall mounting version.
- If cables are fed from below, use the alternative wall mounting version to maintain the minimum bending radius of coaxial cables. Ensure at least 20 cm clearance.
19"-Rack Mounting
For 19"- rack mounting, use the supplied angle brackets and screws (M4x6). Fix brackets on both sides.
Mounting 19" angle brackets:
- Standard mounting uses the front holes of the brackets.
- Mounting for a bigger bending radius of connection cables uses the rear holes of the brackets.
Dust protection cover: To protect the basic unit during mounting, leave the carton as a cover at the front of the housing.
Recommendation and Short Circuit Behavior
- For operation, all slots must be equipped with a module or a blanking plate. Modules with a CI-slot require supplied covers even without a CA-module to ensure proper air flow for cooling.
- In case of a short circuit or power supply overload, the system will reboot permanently (hiccup mode). Front LEDs and the handset display will flash. After the malfunction is eliminated, the power supply returns to normal mode.
Handset OH 41 (Accessory)
The OH 41 handset is used for programming and system menu access.
Standby: After mains connection and module initialization, plug the handset into the basic unit socket. Press the [Enter Key] to enter the module menu and system menu.
Modul menu: Navigate through modules (1-14) and parameters using the navigation keys (⬆️, ⬇️, ⬅️, ➡️).
Parameter menu: Select and adjust parameters.
Parameter sub-menu: Select and change digits within a parameter value.
Saving data: Data are saved automatically after leaving the parameter menu or 60 seconds after the last entry.
Initializing the modules:
- Connect OH 50 A to mains power.
- Connect the handset OH 41.
- Modules are scanned in the background (can take up to 1 minute).
Detailed menu structures are found in the related module manual.
System Menu of the Basic Unit
The "System settings" menu allows parameter setup of the basic unit. Accessing "System settings" provides the following parameters:
- Update OH50A MultiUpdate Mod: Insert USB memory stick, select OH50A-File (Image). Modules will be updated with the latest software.
- UID License Code: For remote access. License: 8C061251 (example). Web-UI is locked by default. UID License Code is needed for a license key, entered via Web-UI or USB.
- LIC Load OH50A / LIC Load Module: Insert USB memory stick, search for Unlock code and activate it. Search for License-File and transfer to selected module (e.g., LIC to: 2 OH77).
- NIT Load Module: Import external NIT (e.g., NIT to: 2 OH77) via USB memory stick.
- CfgLoad: Upload configuration file (.cfg) from USB memory stick. Modules are configured accordingly. Module types and slot order must match the config file.
- CfgSave: Uploads the current configuration of modules to the USB memory stick (e.g., Config.OH50A_2014_05_01_14_15).

System Recovery
Press the [Up Key] and [Down Key] buttons simultaneously when power is applied. Then press the [Enter Key] button and choose Backup SW "yes" to start emergency application.
Update Functions in the OH 50A menu "system settings"
Required steps for software update:
- Connect handset to the base unit (must display standby message).
- Plug a USB memory stick into the USB port.
- Select one of the following options:
- Multiupdate Mod: Automatically updates all modules with newer software from the USB stick.
- Update OH 50A: Updates only the base unit. Ensure the file name "OH50A_HW_Vx_xx_SW_Vx_xx.bin" is unique on the USB stick.
- Cfgload: Uploads configuration settings from a file on the USB memory stick to the modules. Module types and slot order must match the configuration file.

If a module update fails, it remains in bootloader mode, indicated on the web interface and handset. The module can be reprogrammed via the web interface or by selecting "Multiupdate Mod." in the "System Settings" menu via handset.
Update Precautions
- Latest firmware available at: http://wisi.de/en/business/products/compact-headend/
- Do not interrupt power supply during update.
- USB memory stick must be FAT32 formatted and must not be removed during the update.
- Do not change names of update or config files.
- Update or config files must be in the root directory of the USB memory stick.
Activation of the OH51A remote monitoring function
The UID (Unique ID) of the device is required to activate the OH51A remote monitoring function. The UID can be found on the type and packaging label.
System Configurations Example
The WISI COMPACT HEADEND processes analogue and digital TV programmes in networks.
Adjusting the system levels: The output level must always be set to the permissible system output level. The output level for each module can be adjusted via the "Out-Att" parameter menu.

OH 41 Handset Priority
While the handset is in use (Modul Menü), the web interface is disabled ("Handset in use"). After 60 seconds, the handset returns to standby, and the web interface is re-enabled. The handset has higher priority.
Activation of the Web Interface
The Web UI of the OH 50 A is locked by default. After logging in as "user", a message prompts to contact a WISI distributor for a license key using the device's UID. WISI converts the UID into an unlock code for a fee. Entering this code permanently unlocks the device.
Web Interface
