The WISI FLEXSWITCH DRC 17xx series represents a range of cascadable multiswitches designed for the distribution of satellite and terrestrial signals.

Important Notes and Installation Guidelines
Pre-Installation Checks:
- Please check all coaxial cables for short circuits before starting installation.
- Ensure the mounting surface is flame retardant, dust-free, protected against humidity, not exposed to direct sunlight, and not adjacent to heating sources.
- Verify that the input levels of the SAT-lines are nearly equal.
- All installations and fixings should only be executed by skilled personnel when the unit is disconnected from the power source to avoid short-circuits.
Regulatory Compliance and Safety:
The installation must comply with relevant European and national standards and regulations for electrical security and broadcast receiving systems. A ground connection must be installed at the device (Ground connector) and the satellite dish using at least 4 mm² cables.
Grounding and Potential Equalization: Pursuant to EN 50 083-1, the satellite antenna system must comply with safety requirements, including grounding and potential equalization.
Application and Usage
This multiswitch is used for distributing 16 SAT-IF-Polarizations (e.g., ASTRA, EUELSAT, Türksat, and Hotbird) from four QUATTRO LNBs, along with terrestrial signals via a passive path.
Depending on the model, a single unit can connect a maximum of 8, 12, 16, 24, or 32 subscribers/receivers via TV/SAT wall outlets.
Signal Selection:
- The selection of IF-polarization is controlled by the receiver's signal: 14/18 V (Vertical/Horizontal) and 0/22 kHz (Low/High-Band).
- Satellite position selection is managed by DiSEqC signals from the SAT receiver.
Powering Cascade Types:
Cascade-type multiswitches can be powered by the external power supply unit DRP 1533 or through SAT trunk lines from connected multiswitches or amplifiers. It is crucial to consider the total current consumption and implement DC-blocks where necessary to avoid power conflicts.
Terminations:
- Unused cascade outputs must be equipped with DC-blocked terminating 75 Ohm resistors.
- To improve signal flatness, open subscriber outputs can be terminated with a 75 Ohm resistor.
Application Example
The diagram illustrates a typical installation setup. It shows satellite dishes (WISI ORBIT), terrestrial input, a cascade of multiswitch units (DRC 1708, DRA 1717), the DRP 1533 power supply, and subscriber outputs.
Colour Coding:
- VL (Vertical Low): Black
- HL (Horizontal Low): Green
- VH (Vertical High): Red
- HH (Horizontal High): Yellow
Power Supply DRP 1533:
Features a DC connector (5.5/2.1 mm) and can supply power to any multiswitch in the cascade.
DC-blocked terminating resistors (DV 25) are used for unused outputs.
