WISI FLEXSWITCH DRC 09xx
Multiswitch 9-in, cascade, TERR. passive
Operating Manual
Overview & Key Features
The WISI FLEXSWITCH DRC 09xx is a high-performance multiswitch designed for distributing satellite and terrestrial signals. It supports cascading for expanded installations and offers passive terrestrial signal pass-through.
Key Features:
- Cascadable multiswitch for the distribution of 8 SAT-polarization levels and terrestrial signals.
- Passive terrestrial path.
- Integrated SAT amplifier for low insertion loss.
- Pre-emphasis to compensate for cable loss at high frequencies.
- Terrestrial signals receivable even without power supply to the multiswitch.
- High screening efficiency of Class A.
- Compact dimensions paired with installation-friendly spacing of F-connectors.
- Color-coded inputs and outputs.
- Made in Germany.
Important Notes and Safety Precautions
Before commissioning, please check the installation for potential short circuits in the coaxial cables. The mounting surface should be flame retardant, dust-free, protected against humidity, not exposed to direct sunlight, and not located near heat sources.
It is important to ensure that the input levels of the SAT levels are as equal as possible. All installations and assemblies should only be carried out by trained personnel when the power plug is disconnected! Avoid short circuits!
The relevant European standards and VDE regulations for ensuring electrical safety must be observed, as well as national approval regulations for broadcast receiving systems. Particular attention must be paid to the grounding of the device (ground connection) and the satellite dish with a protective conductor of at least 4 mm².
Grounding and Potential Equalization
Pursuant to EN 50 083-1, the satellite antenna system must comply with safety requirements, including grounding and potential equalization. A ground connection must be installed at the device (Ground connector) as well as the satellite dish with at least 4 mm² cables.
Application
This multiswitch is used for distributing 8 SAT-IF levels (e.g., ASTRA and EUTELSAT) from two QUATTRO LNBs and terrestrial signals (passive path). The selection of IF levels is performed using the switching criteria 14/18 V (Vertical/Horizontal) and 0/22 kHz (Low/High-Band) by the connected receivers. Satellite selection is realized via DiSEqC 1.0.
Cascading
Cascaded multiswitches can be powered by the external power supply unit DRP 1533 or remotely powered via the SAT lines of another multiswitch or amplifier (consider total current consumption). DC isolations should be considered to avoid power conflicts.
Unused cascade outputs should generally be fitted with DC-isolated 75 Ohm terminating resistors.
Application Example
The application example illustrates a typical installation setup. A satellite dish (WISI ORBIT) and a terrestrial antenna feed signals into the system. The terrestrial signal enters the first multiswitch. The diagram shows a cascade of three WISI DRC 0908 multiswitches, connected in series. The first multiswitch receives signals from two QUATTRO LNBs and the terrestrial input. Subsequent multiswitches in the cascade receive signals from the preceding unit. The final multiswitch distributes signals to multiple 'Subscriber outputs'. A DRP 1533 power supply unit is shown with its 5.5/2.1 mm DC connector, which can be connected to any multiswitch in the chain. A grounding connection is depicted, emphasizing potential equalization. Unused cascade outputs are shown fitted with DC-isolated terminating resistors (DV 25). The color coding for subscriber outputs is: VL (Vertical Low) is black, HL (Horizontal Low) is green, VH (Vertical High) is red, and HH (Horizontal High) is yellow.
