Alarm Feature Description
- Volume Switch (JP2): Sets the alarm volume to either high (105 dB) or low (95 dB).
- Duration Switches (JP3 and JP4): Determine how long the alarm sounds after being triggered. The alarm resets at the end of the duration if the door is closed. In continuous mode, the alarm sounds until reset with the key or the battery depletes.
- Annunciator Mode: The unit emits a series of short beeps until the door is closed or for 15 seconds.
- Door Prop Mode (JP5): When the unit is armed (key switch from OFF to ON), the alarm sounds if the door remains open for 15 seconds. If the door opens and closes within 15 seconds, the alarm will not activate.
- Arming Delay Switch (JP7): Provides a 30-second delay before the alarm arms. To initiate the delay, cycle the key switch from OFF to ON. The door must remain closed for 30 seconds for the alarm to arm.
Installation Instructions
- Configure the switch settings on the circuit board according to desired alarm parameters (refer to Switch Settings).
- If using an external power source, ensure it is a Class II UL Listed transformer. The 9V battery will remain in a no-load standby state.
- Mount the main unit on or next to the door using the provided hardware. The reed switch can be positioned in one of four locations indicated in Figure 2, or routed through the bottom knockout as shown in Figure 3.
- Mount the magnet using the provided hardware. When the door is closed, the magnet must be within 3/4" of the reed switch. For mounting on metal doors or frames, use the provided plastic spacers, ensuring the magnet is within 3/8" of the reed switch when closed. Figures 7, 8, and 9 provide additional mounting guidance.
- Replace the cover by aligning the flanges on the inside of the cover with the slots on the base, snapping it shut, and reinserting the tamper screw.
STI-6402WIR Double Door Install Notes
- If an additional reed switch is not being used, leave the jumper wire across the RS2 terminals on the terminal block.
- Determine the required length for the reed switch wires. STI includes one reed switch with 6 ft. wires; cut to the desired length if necessary.
- Connect the first reed switch to RS1 and the second reed switch to RS2 (refer to Figure 1 for wiring details). The alarm will sound if either door is opened.
Warnings and Cautions
- These units are recommended for indoor use only.
- Periodically test the unit to ensure battery functionality. STI recommends replacing the 9-volt battery twice a year.
- An audio-meter, available at electronics stores, may be needed to measure sound levels in areas with ambient noise to ensure the alarm is audible. Test results might indicate the need for additional Exit Stopper units.
- All specifications and information are current at the time of publication and subject to change without notice.
Warranty Information
- STI provides a three-year guarantee against breakage of the polycarbonate enclosure under normal use.
- A one-year warranty covers electro-mechanical and electronic components.
- The electronic warranty form is available at www.sti-usa.com/wc14.
