Detailed instructions for operating your Casio digital watch.
This manual covers the operational procedures for Modules 3198 and 3299, which are identical. All illustrations show Module 3198. Button operations are indicated by letters ([Button A], [Button B], [Button C], [Button D]). Each section provides information for performing operations in each mode, with further details available in the "Reference" section.
A reference list of operational procedures:
Mode Switching: Press [Button C] to change from mode to mode.
Illumination: In any mode (except when a setting screen is displayed), press [Button B] to illuminate the display. The illumination duration can be set to 1.5 or 3 seconds.
Mode Indicators: The watch features distinct modes for Timekeeping, World Time, Alarm, Countdown Timer, and Stopwatch, indicated by their respective icons or names on the display.
The Timekeeping Mode features a Multi Time function, allowing access to current times in four cities (T-1 Home City, T-2, T-3, T-4 Local Times). Local Times synchronize with the Home City Time.
The digital dial at the top displays the current Home City Time (T-1). The screen also shows the PM indicator, digital dial, seconds, day of the week, month-day, and hour:minutes. Pressing [Button A] while viewing Home City Time (T-1) can switch the display between day of the week and month-day to the Home City code and T-1 indicator.
Changing Home City Time and Date Settings:
Toggling DST: In Timekeeping Mode, display the Home City Time (T-1) screen, hold [Button A] until seconds flash, press [Button C] to reach the DST setting, and press [Button D] to toggle between Daylight Saving Time (DST indicator displayed) and Standard Time (DST indicator not displayed).
Changing Home City Time to World Time City: In Timekeeping Mode, display the desired Local Time (T-2, T-3, or T-4), then press [Button A] and [Button B] simultaneously to make it the new Home City Time.
12/24-Hour Format: The selected format applies to all modes. The PM indicator appears for times from noon to 11:59 p.m. in 12-hour format.
The World Time Mode displays current times in 48 cities across 31 time zones. Operations are performed in World Time Mode, entered by pressing [Button C].
Viewing Other City Codes: In World Time Mode, press [Button D] to scroll through city codes.
Toggling DST for City Codes: In World Time Mode, display the desired city code, hold [Button A] for one second to toggle between DST (indicator shown) and Standard Time (indicator not shown). This setting affects only the displayed city.
Changing Home City to World Time City: In World Time Mode, display the desired city, then press [Button A] and [Button B] simultaneously to make it the new Home City Time.
The watch supports five alarms, configurable as daily or one-time alarms. An Hourly Time Signal can also be enabled.
Setting an Alarm:
Alarm Operation: Alarms sound for 10 seconds at the preset time, synchronized with Timekeeping Mode time. Press any button to stop the alarm. The alarm on indicator is shown when an alarm is active.
Testing Alarms: In Alarm Mode, hold [Button D] to sound the alarm.
Turning Alarms On/Off: In Alarm Mode, select an alarm and press [Button A] to cycle through Alarm Off, One-Time Alarm On, and Daily Alarm On.
Hourly Time Signal: In Alarm Mode, select the Hourly Time Signal and press [Button A] to toggle it on or off. The signal on indicator appears in all modes when active.
The Countdown Timer can be set from 1 second to 24 hours, with an alarm sounding when the countdown reaches zero. Operations are performed in Countdown Timer Mode, entered by pressing [Button C].
Configuring the Timer:
Using the Timer: Press [Button D] in Countdown Timer Mode to start. Press [Button D] to pause/resume. Press [Button A] after pausing to stop completely and reset.
The Stopwatch measures elapsed time, split times, and two finishes, with a range of 23 hours, 59 minutes, 59.99 seconds. It continues running even if the mode is changed.
Measuring Times:
This section provides detailed and technical information, precautions, and notes on watch features.
In Timekeeping/World Time modes, the map shows the time zone of the displayed digital time. In Alarm/Timer/Stopwatch modes, it shows the Home City Time (T-1) zone. The digital dial indicates the current Home City Time (T-1) hour, minute, and second.
A tone sounds with button presses. It can be turned on or off by holding [Button C] in any mode (except setting screens). The MUTE indicator appears when the tone is off. Alarms and signals function regardless of the tone setting.
[Button B] and [Button D] are used for scrolling through data, with high-speed scrolling when held down.
The watch automatically returns to Timekeeping Mode after 2-3 minutes of inactivity in Alarm Mode. Setting screens with flashing digits also exit automatically after 2-3 minutes of inactivity.
Seconds are reset to 00. Minutes are incremented if seconds are 30-59 when reset. The year can be set from 2000-2099. The automatic calendar handles month lengths and leap years.
This feature continually changes the digital display. To turn off, press any button. To turn on, hold [Button D] in Timekeeping Mode for about three seconds until a beep is heard.
Accuracy: ±30 seconds per month.
Timekeeping: Hour, minutes, seconds, p.m. (PM), month, day, day of the week. 12-hour and 24-hour formats. Full auto-calendar (2000-2099). Multi Time (1 Home City, 3 Local Times). Daylight Saving Time (DST)/Standard Time.
World Time: 48 cities (31 time zones) and Coordinated Universal Time (UTC). DST/Standard Time. Home City/World Time City swapping.
Alarms: 5 alarms (One-time or Daily), Hourly Time Signal.
Countdown Timer: Measuring unit: 1/10 second. Input range: 1 second to 24 hours.
Stopwatch: Measuring unit: 1/100 second. Measuring capacity: 23:59'59.99''. Modes: Elapsed time, split time, two finishes.
Illumination: LED; selectable duration.
Other: Button operation tone on/off; Auto Display function.
Battery: One lithium battery (Type: CR2025), approximately 10 years life. Usage: 10 seconds alarm, 1.5 seconds illumination per day.
