Stay Sober: Never operate the mobility scooter while intoxicated. It requires full attention.
Sidewalk Use: Mobility scooters are generally to be ridden on sidewalks unless no sidewalk is present. Be mindful of pedestrians and provide ample notice when passing.
Items to Carry: It is advisable to carry the charger, spare fuses (if applicable), and a lock for securing the scooter.
Inspecting Your Mobility Scooter: Always inspect the scooter before riding to ensure safety features are operational. Listen for changes in sounds that might indicate issues.
Holding the Handlebars: Place fingers over brake levers for easy access. Wrap hands and thumbs around handlebars for control.
Turning On/Off: Insert the key into the ignition and turn clockwise to power on. Turn counter-clockwise to power off. Warning: The electrical system becomes live when activated. Turn off and remove the key before accessing electrical components.
Accelerating and Decelerating: The throttle, usually on the right handlebar, controls forward movement. Release to decelerate. Do not activate the accelerator until seated and ready to move.
Stopping: The scooter has front and rear brakes activated by levers on the handlebars. Pull levers towards you to brake. Releasing the brakes re-engages the motor. In wet conditions, brakes may be less effective due to reduced friction. Slow down and allow more stopping distance. Have brakes and pads checked regularly. Engage rear brakes before front brakes to avoid flipping.
Signaling: Use the horn to warn pedestrians. Turn signal lights indicate direction. Headlights and tail lights improve visibility at night or in dark areas, consuming approximately 5% of battery power.
Riding in Wet Weather: The scooter is designed for wet conditions, but high speeds can cause slipping. Brakes may be less effective. Slow down and increase stopping distance.
The Motor and Water: Do not immerse the scooter in water. Ensure water levels do not exceed the motor to prevent short-circuits and damage.
