Programming
The Smart Watering Kit features a control panel with the following elements:
- LED Display: Shows status and settings. Press any button to wake it up.
- Watering Time Button: Sets watering duration from 10 seconds (01 x 10s) up to 990 seconds (99 x 10s). '00' indicates 1,000 seconds. This can be customized up to 7,200 seconds via the 3R-Installer App (requires Smart Bridge).
- Interval Time Button: Sets the watering interval from 1 day (01 x 1d) up to 30 days (30 x 1d). '00' indicates no routine.
- Customizable Time: Setting watering time and interval time to '0' allows scheduling through your smart home automation system.
- Start/Stop Button: Press to start or stop watering. Press and hold for 5 seconds until the LED Indicator turns red, then release to initiate Zigbee pairing mode (LED Indicator will blink blue rapidly).

Installation and Quick Start
Follow these steps for installation:
- Cut the tube to the required length.
- Connect the two tubes to the water inlet and outlet respectively.
- Install the filter to the tube.
- Place the filter assembly into the water tank.
- Use the T-joint to connect additional water tubes if needed.
- Install the water dropper and stake to the end of the tube.
- Install the 4 AA batteries.
- Press any button to turn on the LED display.
- Press the [Watering Time (x10s)] button to set the watering duration (10s to 990s).
- Press the [Interval Time (x1d)] button to configure the watering schedule (1 day to 30 days).
- The device is now set up and ready to water plants automatically. For advanced setup, connect it with your Zigbee hub/bridge.
Setup with Smart Bridge MZ1
The Third Reality Smart Bridge (sold separately) enhances Zigbee devices by making them Matter-compatible, enabling seamless integration with major ecosystems like Apple Home, Google Home, Amazon Alexa, Samsung SmartThings, and Home Assistant. It also supports the 3R-Installer APP for configuration and firmware updates.
- Ensure your Smart Bridge is set up within your smart home system.
- Install batteries into the Smart Watering Kit. Confirm it is in pairing mode. If not, press and hold the Start/Stop button for 5 seconds to factory reset and initiate pairing mode.
- Press the pinhole button on the Smart Bridge to activate Zigbee pairing mode. The Zigbee blue LED on the bridge should start blinking.
- The Smart Watering Kit will be added to your Smart Bridge. A new device will appear in your smart home app (e.g., Apple Home, Google Home, Alexa).
- Optionally, install the 3R-Installer APP and use the multi-admin feature in your smart home app to share permissions with it for advanced control.
Setup with Third Reality Hub and SKILL
The Third Reality Hub (sold separately) allows remote control via the Third Reality APP and integrates with Google Home or Amazon Alexa through its SKILL. This is suitable for beginners or those without major smart home platforms. However, for primary use with Google Home or Alexa, using a Zigbee bridge is recommended due to potential Cloud-to-Cloud connection issues.
- Ensure your Third Reality Hub is properly set up with the Third Reality App.
- Install batteries into the Smart Watering Kit. Confirm it is in pairing mode. If not, press and hold the Start/Stop button for 5 seconds to factory reset and initiate pairing mode.
- Open the Third Reality APP, tap the "+" icon next to the hub, and select "Quick Pair."
- The Smart Watering Kit will pair with your hub and appear in the Third Reality APP.
- Optionally, enable the Third Reality SKILL in the Alexa or Google Home app for Cloud-to-Cloud communication.
Setup with Compatible Third-Party Zigbee Hubs
Third Reality devices integrate with various open Zigbee platforms, including Amazon Echo (with built-in Zigbee), SmartThings, Home Assistant (ZHA or Zigbee2mqtt), Homey, and Hubitat. This allows direct pairing without an additional bridge or hub.
- Ensure your Zigbee Hub is already set up within your smart home system.
- Install batteries into the Smart Watering Kit. Confirm it is in pairing mode. If not, press and hold the Start/Stop button for 5 seconds to factory reset and initiate pairing mode.
- Open your smart home app and follow the on-screen instructions to begin the Zigbee pairing process.
- The Smart Watering Kit will pair with the Zigbee hub.
- Use your smart home app to control the Smart Watering Kit, such as creating routines for scheduled watering.
Pairing with SmartThings
Compatible Apps: SmartThings App
Compatible Devices: SmartThings Hub 2nd Gen (2015) and 3rd Gen (2018), Aeotec Smart Home Hub.
Pairing Steps:
- Before pairing, ensure your SmartThings Hub firmware is up to date.
- Install batteries into the Smart Watering Kit. Confirm it is in pairing mode. If not, press and hold the Start/Stop button for 5 seconds to factory reset and initiate pairing mode.
- Open the SmartThings App, tap "+" in the upper right corner, select "Add device," and then tap "Scan nearby."
- The Smart Watering Kit will be added to your SmartThings hub within seconds.
- Create routines to control connected devices.
Pairing with Amazon Alexa
Compatible Apps: Amazon Alexa App
Compatible Devices: Echo speakers with built-in Zigbee hub (Echo 4th Gen, Echo Plus 1st & 2nd Gen, Echo Studio).
Pairing Steps:
- Ask Alexa to check for updates before pairing.
- Install batteries into the Smart Watering Kit. Confirm it is in pairing mode. If not, press and hold the Start/Stop button for 5 seconds to factory reset and initiate pairing mode.
- In the Alexa App, tap "+", choose "Other," and then "Zigbee" to add the device. The Smart Watering Kit will be added.
- You can create routines with the device.
Pairing with Homey
Compatible Apps: Homey App
Compatible Devices: Homey Pro, Homey Bridge.
Pairing Steps:
- Install the Third Reality App in your Homey App.
- Install batteries into the Smart Watering Kit. Confirm it is in pairing mode. If not, press and hold the Start/Stop button for 5 seconds to factory reset and initiate pairing mode.
- Tap "+" in the Devices tab, then select "New Device," "Third Reality," "Smart Watering Kit," and "Connect." Follow the on-screen instructions to add the device.
- Create a Flow with the Smart Watering Kit.
Pairing with Hubitat

Pairing Steps:
- Install batteries into the Smart Watering Kit. Confirm it is in pairing mode. If not, press and hold the Start/Stop button for 5 seconds to factory reset and initiate pairing mode.
- Visit your Hubitat Elevation hub device page from your web browser. Select the "Devices" menu item from the sidebar, then select "Discover Devices" in the upper right.
- Click the "Start Zigbee Pairing" button after selecting a Zigbee device type. This will put the hub in Zigbee pairing mode for 60 seconds.
- Pairing is completed.
- Tap "Apps," and "Create New Basic Rules" to set up automations.
Pairing With Home Assistant

Pairing Steps:
- Install batteries into the Smart Watering Kit. Confirm it is in pairing mode. If not, press and hold the Start/Stop button for 5 seconds to factory reset and initiate pairing mode.
- In Zigbee Home Automation, go to the "Configuration" page, then click "Integrations."
- Click "Devices" under the Zigbee item, then click "Add Devices."
- Pairing is completed.
- Navigate back to the "Devices" page to find the added sensor.
- Click to enter the control interface to set the watering kit.
- Click "+" under "Automations" to add triggers and actions.
Pairing With Home Assistant (Zigbee2MQTT)

Pairing Steps:
- Install batteries into the Smart Watering Kit. Confirm it is in pairing mode. If not, press and hold the Start/Stop button for 5 seconds to factory reset and initiate pairing mode.
- Permit join in Zigbee2MQTT to start Zigbee pairing.
- Pairing is completed. The Smart Watering Kit will be displayed in the device list.
- Go to the Settings page to create automations.
