Introduction

The Third Reality Smart Color Bulb offers an easy smart lighting solution for your home. It enables control of your lights through a Smart Home app on your phone or via voice commands, allowing for functions like on/off, dimming, routines, and away mode.

Factory Reset

To factory reset the smart color bulb, power cycle it (turn off and on) 5 times in a row. The bulb will flash warm white, then cold white, red, green, and blue within 3 seconds, before turning solid warm white. This indicates it has entered Zigbee pairing mode. It will exit pairing mode if not paired within 3 minutes.

Zigbee Mesh Network

The bulb functions as a Zigbee repeater, extending the signal range of your Zigbee Mesh Network. To ensure it works as a repeater, do not turn off the wall switch that controls the smart bulb; it must maintain power.

Setup with Smart Bridge MZ1

The Smart Bridge (sold separately) makes your Zigbee device Matter-compatible, enabling seamless integration with major Matter ecosystems like Apple Home, Google Home, Amazon Alexa, Samsung SmartThings, and Home Assistant. Setting up the bulb with the Smart Bridge transforms it into a Matter-compatible smart color bulb, allowing local control through Matter. The 3R-Installer App can be used to configure Zigbee bulb attributes like default-on behavior and perform firmware updates.

1. Ensure your bridge is already set up within your smart home system.
2. Turn off the light switch controlling the E26 bulb socket. Install the smart color bulb by screwing it securely into the socket.
3. Turn on the light bulb and confirm it's in pairing mode. The smart bulb will flash warm white, cool white, red, green, and blue within 3 seconds, then turn solid warm white, indicating it has entered Zigbee pairing mode. If this sequence does not occur, factory reset the bulb to initiate pairing mode.
4. Press the pinhole button on the bridge to activate Zigbee pairing mode. The Zigbee blue LED should start blinking.
5. The bulb will pair with the bridge, and a new device will appear in your smart home app (e.g., Google Home or Alexa).
6. Optionally, install the 3R-Installer App and use the multi-admin feature in your smart home app to share permissions with the 3R-Installer App.

Setup with Third Reality Hub and SKILL

The Third Reality Hub (sold separately) allows remote control via the Third Reality App, suitable for smart home beginners or users without major system providers. The Third Reality Cloud supports SKILL integration with Google Home or Amazon Alexa. However, for potentially slow and unreliable Cloud-to-Cloud connections, using the Bridge solution is recommended if Google Home or Alexa is your primary platform.

1. Ensure your hub is properly set up with the Third Reality App.
2. Turn off the light switch controlling the E26 bulb socket. Install the smart color bulb by screwing it securely into the socket.
3. Turn on the light bulb and confirm it's in pairing mode. The smart bulb will flash warm white, cool white, red, green, and blue within 3 seconds, then turn solid warm white, indicating it has entered Zigbee pairing mode within 3 minutes. If this sequence does not occur, factory reset the bulb to initiate pairing mode.
4. Open the Third Reality App, press the '+' icon next to the hub, and select 'Quick Pair'.
5. The bulb will pair with your hub and appear in the Third Reality App.
6. Optionally, enable the Third Reality SKILL in the Alexa or Google Home app to enable Cloud-to-Cloud communication.

Setup with Compatible Third-Party Zigbee Hubs

Third Reality supports integration with various open Zigbee platforms, including Amazon Echo with built-in Zigbee, Samsung SmartThings, Home Assistant (with ZHA or Z2M), Homey, and Hubitat. If you own any of these devices, you can pair the smart bulb directly without an additional bridge or hub.

1. Ensure your Zigbee Hub is already set up within your smart home system.

Pairing Steps:

1. Before pairing, check for updates to ensure the SmartThings Hub firmware is up to date.
2. Turn on the light bulb and confirm it's in pairing mode. The smart bulb will flash warm white, cool white, red, green, and blue within 3 seconds, then turn solid warm white, indicating it has entered Zigbee pairing mode. If this sequence does not occur, factory reset the bulb to initiate pairing mode.
3. Open your SmartThings App, tap '+' on the upper right corner to 'Add device', and then tap 'Scan nearby'.
4. The bulb will be added to your SmartThings hub in a few seconds.
5. Create routines to control connected devices.

Pairing with Amazon Alexa

Pairing Steps:

1. Ask Alexa to check for updates before pairing.

3. Tap '+' in the Alexa App, choose 'Other' and 'Zigbee' to add the device. The bulb will be added.
4. You can create routines with the device.

Pairing with Hubitat

3. Click the 'Start Zigbee Pairing' button after selecting a Zigbee device type. The button will put the hub in Zigbee pairing mode for 60 seconds.
4. Pairing is completed.
5. Tap 'Apps', and 'Create New Basic Rules'.

Pairing With Home Assistant

6. Click to enter the control interface to set the bulb.
7. Click '+' under Automation and add triggers and actions.

Pairing With Home Assistant (Zigbee2MQTT)

Pairing Steps:

1. Turn on the light bulb and confirm it's in pairing mode. 2. Permit join to start Zigbee pairing in Zigbee2MQTT.
3. Pairing completed; the bulb will be displayed in the device list.
4. Go to the Settings page to create automation.
