1. The Basics
The Video Doorbell V5 features several components for its operation:
Front View:
- 1. PIR Motion Sensor: Detects movement.
- 2. Infrared LED x 6: Provides night vision.
- 3. Light Sensor: Adjusts camera settings based on ambient light.
- 4. 166° HD Camera: Captures video footage.
- 5. Microphone: Captures audio.
- 6. Push Button: The button users press to ring the doorbell.
- 7. LED Indicator: Shows the doorbell's status.
- 8. Speaker: Outputs audio.
Rear View:
- 9. AC 8V~24V Power Interface: Connection for hardwiring.
- 10. Reset Button: Used for resetting the device.
- 11. Micro USB Port (Battery Charging): For charging the internal battery.
- 12. Battery door: Access to the battery compartment.
2. Mounting Bracket
The mounting bracket is used to attach the doorbell to a wall. It includes:
- 13. Power Contact Base: Connects to the doorbell for power.
- 14. Mounting Screw Holes *4: For securing the bracket to the wall.
- 15. Wire Terminals: For connecting hardwire power.

4. Hardwiring and Battery Power
Hardwiring
To hardwire the doorbell, connect the wires from your wall to the screws on the back of the doorbell. Ensure the red wire connects to the left screw and the other wire connects to the right screw. This setup requires an AC 8V~24V Bell Transformer.
Battery Power
The doorbell can also be powered by rechargeable 18650 batteries.
- Charging Time: Approximately 14 hours using a 1A USB charger (not included) via the micro USB port.
- Battery Life: With normal use, batteries last 6 to 8 months or approximately 1,500 notification events.
Battery Usage Note: Frequent events or using the Live View feature will drain the battery faster. Adjust motion sensitivity settings in the ToSee app to conserve power.
WARNING: Ensure 18650 batteries are inserted in the correct direction. Incorrect insertion can cause permanent damage.
5. Setting up in the ToSee App
Follow these steps to set up your video doorbell using the ToSee app:
- Step 1: Download App
Download the ToSee app from the Apple App Store or Google Play. The app guides you through setup and remote control.
- Step 2: Add Device
Open the ToSee app on your smartphone. Tap the "+" icon, then select "QRCode Bridging". Alternatively, tap "ADD Device" and follow the on-screen instructions.
- Step 3: Prepare Doorbell
Open the battery cover on the doorbell and pull out the insulation tabs from the batteries.
- Step 4: Check Device Status
In the app, tap "The Red Light is Flashing". If the red LED does not flash, press and hold the reset button for 5 seconds until it flashes.
- Step 5: Connect to Wi-Fi
Select your 2.4GHz Wi-Fi network from the list and enter your Wi-Fi password. Tap "Next". (Note: Only 2.4GHz Wi-Fi networks are supported.)
- Step 6: Scan QR Code
Hold your phone approximately 15-20cm (6-8 inches) away from the doorbell camera to scan the QR code displayed on your phone. You should hear a confirmation sound like "Joined the network successfully". Tap "Next".
- Step 7: Administrator Password
Enter the device administrator password. Keep this password secure. If forgotten, the device must be reset to factory defaults. Tap "Next".
- Step 8: Name Device
Enter a name for your device (e.g., "Front Door", "Living Room"). Tap "Complete".
- Step 9: Live View
Tap the doorbell's Live View in the app. If you can see the live feed, your setup is complete.
6. App Live View Interface
NOTICE: To receive notifications on your phone, ensure they are enabled in your phone's settings (Navigate to Settings -> Notifications -> ON).
The Live View interface provides the following controls:
- 1. Back: Returns to the previous screen.
- 2. Share: Allows sharing access with others. ?

- 5. Volume: Adjusts audio volume. ?
- 6. Playback: Access recorded footage.

7. Installing Your Video Doorbell On The Wall
Follow these steps to mount the doorbell:
- Mark the positions for 4 drill holes on your wall.
- Use an appropriate drill bit to create the holes and insert the provided anchors.
- Secure the mounting bracket to the wall using 4 mounting screws and 1 security screw.
- Attach the doorbell to the bracket.
The process involves drilling holes, inserting anchors, sliding the doorbell onto the bracket, and tightening the security screw.
8. Troubleshooting
Q: How do I RESET the doorbell?
A: Press and hold the RESET Button for 6 seconds.
Q: How do I share the video doorbell with my family?
A:
- Open the ToSee App: From the home page, tap the doorbell's Live View. Tap the "Share icon" ? in the top right corner. Enter the device administrator password and tap "Confirm". Tap "+", enter the new user's Nickname, then tap "Confirm". A QR code will be generated.
- On the new user's cellphone: Open the ToSee App. From the home page, tap "+" in the top right corner. Tap "Scan QR code", then scan the QR code generated previously. You will see "Success", then tap "Confirm". Enter a Device Name. Tap "Confirm" and you're all set!
Q: How do I adjust PIR motion detection sensitivity?
A:
- From the device list page, tap the "Live view".
- Tap "Settings" ⚙️ in the top right corner.
- Tap "Motion Detection Sensitivity".
Q: How many users can view the video at the same time?
A: Up to 4 users can view the video feed simultaneously, but only 1 user can use the direct intercom feature. Both iOS and Android devices are compatible.
Q: Is 5GHz WiFi supported?
A: No. Only 2.4GHz WiFi is supported. ?
Q: My signal is poor on my doorbell?
A: Your doorbell may be too far from your wireless router, or there may be obstructions reducing signal strength. Try repositioning your router or using a signal extender/repeater.
9. Wireless Chime (Optional)
The wireless chime can be connected to the video doorbell to provide an audible alert within your home when someone rings the doorbell. It plugs into any wall outlet, allowing placement anywhere in the home.
NOTICE: The video doorbell is only compatible with its specific wireless chime and not with traditional doorbell chimes. If the wireless chime is not installed, doorbell notifications will still be sent directly to the ToSee app.
10. Getting Started with the Chime
Follow these steps to set up your chime with the video doorbell:
- Step 1: Preparation
Before starting, ensure your video doorbell is connected to your phone and plug in your chime.
- Step 2: Select Tune
Press the forward or back button on the chime to cycle through 52 different tunes and select your preferred one.
- Step 3: Activate Chime
Press and hold the volume button ? on the chime for 5 seconds until the blue indicator ? is ON.
- Step 4: Test Doorbell
Press the doorbell button.
- Step 5: Confirmation
The chime will automatically play the tune you selected. ?
