2. Installation
2.1 Overview
The system comprises the EP600 Inverter, B500 Battery, and an IOT controller. It connects to the Grid and AC Loads. The BLUETTI APP can be used for monitoring.
Note: The Meter is only used for the situation of installed three-phase solar PV inverters and is provided by BLUETTI free of charge.
Important Notes:
- This document is for quick guidance installation only. For details, refer to the installation and User Manual.
- Machine damage caused by failure to follow the content is not covered by the warranty.
2.2 Installation Requirements
Ensure adequate clearance around the unit for ventilation and maintenance:
- Minimum clearance from walls: ≥300mm (11.81in) on sides and rear.
- Minimum clearance above: ≥1000mm (39.37in).
- Ensure the unit is installed in a well-ventilated area.
2.3 Wall Mounting
Detailed diagrams show the process for drilling wall mounting holes, indicating measurements for different layer configurations (3, 4, or 5 layers of mounting brackets). The diagrams illustrate the placement of brackets on the wall and the EP600 unit.
3. Connecting Cables
3.1 Overview
This section outlines the various cable connections required for the BLUETTI EP600 system.
3.2 Connect the Communication Cable
Connect the communication cable to the communication box. Ensure the router used for EP600 supports WiFi IEEE 802.11 b/g/n, 2.4GHz, and disable the 5G option.
3.3 Connect the Ground Cable
Connect the ground cable to the designated ground terminal on the unit.
3.4 Connect the GRID and BACKUP Cable
Connect the AC cable for the Grid and Backup interfaces. Important: It is forbidden to connect the grid cable to the BACKUP interface of EP600.
3.5 Connect the Batteries and EP600
Connect the B500 batteries to the EP600 unit using the provided battery cables. Ensure correct polarity and secure connections.
3.6 Connect PV Cable
Connect the solar panel cables to the PV1 and PV2 ports on the EP600. The ports are defined as follows:
Port | Define | Cable Spec. |
---|---|---|
PV1+ | To solar panel positive | Conductor cross-sectional area: 2.5mm²~4mm² |
PV1- | To solar panel negative | |
PV1 PE | PV1 to solar panel ground | |
PV2+ | To solar panel positive | Conductor cross-sectional area: 2.5mm²~4mm² |
PV2- | To solar panel negative | |
PV2 PE | PV2 to solar panel ground |
Note: Please check the solar PV open circuit voltage; it must be less than 500V.
3.7 Connection CT (Current Transformer)
Install the CT sensors on the L1/L2/L3 cables of the residential main circuit breaker. Ensure the arrow on the CT points towards the grid. Pay attention to the phase sequence: L1 to R, L2 to S, L3 to T.
3.7 Connection Transfer Switch
A transfer switch is necessary for building a partial residential backup system. Follow these connection guidelines:
- The neutral cable from the BACKUP interface of EP600 cannot be connected to the neutral cable of the public grid.
- Connect L1/L2/L3/N wires from EP600 BACKUP to pins 2(L1), 6(L2), 10(L3), 14(N) of the transfer switch.
- Connect L1/L2/L3/N wires from the public grid to pins 4(L1), 8(L2), 12(L3), 16(N) of the transfer switch.
- Connect L1/L2/L3/N wires for essential appliances to pins 1(L1), 5(L2), 9(L3), 13(N) of the transfer switch.
4. Electrical Connection Modes
3.8 DC Coupling
This mode connects the PV input directly to the EP600's DC side, allowing for DC-coupled solar energy storage. The diagram shows connections for PV, Battery, EP600, Grid, and Load, including main breakers and transfer switch.
3.9 AC Coupling
This mode connects the EP600 to an existing AC-coupled solar PV system. The diagram shows connections for a User's PV inverter, Meter, EP600, Grid, and Load. It includes connections for PV, Grid, Battery, and Load via main breakers and transfer switch.
Note on Meter: The Meter is only applicable when PV grid-tied inverters have been installed. It requires connections for UA UB UC UN to the PV inverter's L1/L2/L3/N and CT cables to the Meter, tied to the PV inverter's L1/L2/L3/N wires. The 485-A red wire connects to pin 21 and 485-B black wire to pin 22.
5. Power On
Follow these steps to power on the BLUETTI EP600 system:
- Switch on the DC circuit breaker on each B500 battery pack.
- Press and hold the power button of any battery pack for 3 seconds until the green indicator lights up.
- Wait for approximately 40 seconds until the green indicator of the inverter is always on.
- When connecting solar panels, switch on the DC circuit breakers on the EP600.
- Switch on the AC circuit breakers connected to the EP600 grid port.
- Power on the system via the BLUETTI app. Refer to the App Manual for details.
- Check the voltage of the BACKUP port.
- Switch on the AC circuit breakers connected to the EP600 load port.
Once completed, you can check the EP600 system status through the app.
System Status Indicators
