3. Inspection, Points to Verify ✔️
Petzl recommends a detailed inspection at least once every 12 months. Follow the procedures described at Petzl.com/ppe and record the results.
Before Each Use:
- Check webbing at tie-in points, belay loop, adjustment buckles, and safety stitching for cuts, wear, swelling, or damage from use, heat, or chemicals.
- Pay special attention to cut or loose threads.
- Verify that adjustment buckles operate properly.
- Consult Petzl.com/ppe for detailed inspection procedures. Contact Petzl if in doubt.
During Use:
- Regularly verify that adjustment buckles are securely fastened.
- Monitor the condition of the product and its connections to other system equipment.
- Ensure all equipment items are correctly positioned relative to each other.
4. Compatibility
Verify that this product is compatible with other elements of your system for your specific application (compatibility means good functional interaction).
5. Harness Setup
Before donning, untangle the harness and loosen the waistbelt buckle. Always pass excess webbing under the elastic keepers to prevent accidental loosening of buckles. Wet or icy straps are more difficult to adjust.
Adjustment and Suspension Test:
The belay loop must be centered. The harness must be adjusted to fit snugly to reduce injury risk in case of a fall. In a safe environment, move around and hang in the harness from the tie-in points to verify comfort and proper adjustment. Ensure the child has sufficient muscle tone to use the seat harness alone; if not, use a full-body harness or the BODY shoulder straps.
6. Tying In
Tie in to the two tie-in points. Always check the tie-in knot before the child starts to climb. Refer to Petzl.com for other tying-in methods.
7. Belay System Setup
Connect your belay or rappel system to the belay loop with a locking carabiner. Verify the carabiner is properly closed, locked, and loaded on its major axis.
8. Additional Information
