This device is designed for the playback of audio signals. Any other use is expressly prohibited.

Power Supply

Technical Specifications

Mains Operation

Check that the mains voltage on the type plate (on the bottom of the device) corresponds to your local mains supply. If not, contact your specialist dealer.

  1. Plug the power adaptor into the socket (100 - 240V~, 50/60 Hz).

Caution: The device is connected to the mains with the power plug. To fully disconnect the device from the mains, pull out the plug. The mains plug is used to disconnect the device and shall remain readily operable and should not be obstructed during intended use.

Inserting the Back-up Battery

The back-up batteries ensure that stored settings are not lost during a power failure.

  1. Open the battery compartment by pressing the marked area and pushing down the cover.
  2. Observe the polarity marked on the base of the battery compartment when inserting the batteries (micro batteries, 2 x 1.5 V, R03/ UM 4/ AAA).
  3. Close the battery compartment.

Note: Remove the back-up battery when it is flat or when the device will not be used for a long period.

Environmental Note: Batteries, including those without heavy metal, should not be disposed of with household waste. Always dispose of used batteries in accordance with local environmental regulations.

DAB Mode

Antenna

For the best DAB and FM (UHF) reception, align the wire antenna accordingly.

Switching ON/OFF

  1. Switch the device from standby using the "ON/OFF" button.
  2. Switch the device to standby using the "ON/OFF" button.

Searching and Saving Radio Stations (Automatically)

The radio performs ATS (Automatic Tuning System) when used for the first time. It searches for DAB stations and stores them in the DAB radio list, then searches for FM stations and stores them into FM presets.

Selecting a DAB Station

  1. Press the "ON/OFF" button to switch on your radio.
  2. Press the "MODE/MENU" button until DAB mode is selected.
  3. Press the "TUNING +" or "TUNING -" button to choose a DAB station from the list.
  4. When the desired station name appears on the display, press the "SNOOZE/SLEEP/INFO/SELECT" button to select the station.

Displaying DAB Information

Press the "SNOOZE/SLEEP/INFO/SELECT" button to cycle through various displays, including: Station name, DLS, Program type, Multiplex name, Frequency, Bit rate, Signal strength, time, and data. Display options revert to the clock after 10 seconds, except for text displays.

Manual Tuning

Manual tuning allows tuning to a particular DAB frequency in Band III.

  1. Press and hold the "MODE/MENU" button for 2 seconds to show the DAB menu.
  2. Press "TUNING +" or "TUNING -" until 'MANUAL' is displayed.
  3. Press "SNOOZE/SLEEP/INFO/SELECT" to enter manual tuning mode.
  4. Press "TUNING +" or "TUNING -" to select the desired DAB channel. Press "SNOOZE/SLEEP/INFO/SELECT" to tune to the chosen frequency.
  5. A signal strength display indicates if a signal is present. The minimum signal marker (|) shows the minimum strength needed for good DAB reception.
  6. Press "SNOOZE/SLEEP/INFO/SELECT" to store new DAB stations and return to normal tuning.

Dynamic Range Control (DRC)

DRC makes quieter sounds easier to hear in noisy environments.

  1. Press "ON/OFF" to switch on your radio.
  2. Press and hold "MODE/MENU" for 2 seconds to show the DAB menu.
  3. Press "TUNING +" or "TUNING -" until 'DRC' is displayed.
  4. Press "SNOOZE/SLEEP/INFO/SELECT" to enter adjustment mode.
  5. Press "TUNING +" or "TUNING -" to select DRC setting: DRC 0, DRC 1, or DRC ½.
  6. Press "SNOOZE/SLEEP/INFO/SELECT" to confirm. The display returns to the station name.

Prune Stations (DAB)

This function deletes unavailable stations marked with a question mark in the station list.

  1. Switch on the radio and select DAB mode using "MODE/MENU".
  2. Press and hold "MODE/MENU" for 2 seconds to show the DAB menu.
  3. Press "TUNING +" or "TUNING -" until 'PRUNE' is displayed.
  4. Press "SNOOZE/SLEEP/INFO/SELECT"; 'SELECT' will be shown.
  5. Press "SNOOZE/SLEEP/INFO/SELECT" to remove invalid station names. The display returns to the station name.

FM Mode

Tuning FM Radio Stations (Automatically and Manually)

You can store 10 radio stations on presets.

  1. Press "ON/OFF" to switch on the radio to FM mode.
  2. Press and hold "MODE/MENU"; the display shows settings.
  3. Press "SNOOZE/SLEEP/INFO/SELECT" to enter settings.
  4. Press "TUNING +" or "TUNING -" to select "Local FM" or "Distant".
  5. Press "SNOOZE/SLEEP/INFO/SELECT" to confirm the setting.

Searching and Saving Radio Stations for DAB or FM

You can store 10 radio stations as presets for DAB or FM mode.

  1. Switch the radio to DAB or FM mode.
  2. Select the desired DAB station or search for an FM station using "TUNING +" or "TUNING -".
  3. Press and hold the "PRESET" button to activate the memory function.
  4. Press "TUNING +" or "TUNING -" to select the preset number.
  5. Press "SNOOZE/SLEEP/INFO/SELECT" to save the station.

Note: If stations are already stored, they will be overwritten.

  1. Repeat steps 1 to 4 to store more stations.

Selecting Stored Stations

  1. Select a preset by pressing the "PRESET" button to cycle through the stored stations.

Adjusting the Volume

  1. Adjust the volume with "VOLUME -/AL1" or "VOLUME +/AL2" buttons.

Displaying FM Information

Press the "SNOOZE/SLEEP/INFO/SELECT" button to cycle through displays: Station name, Radio text, PTY, Frequency, time, and data. Display options revert to the clock after 10 seconds, except for text displays.

FM Scanning Settings

Your radio includes a "Local FM" option for strong stations and a "Distant" option for all stations.

To activate auto FM station tuning: Press and hold "TUNING +" or "TUNING -" until the frequency display runs rapidly. The search stops when a station is found.

Note: Briefly press "TUNING +" or "TUNING -" to move the frequency forward in steps.

To start FM manual tuning: Briefly press "TUNING +" or "TUNING -" to step the frequency up or down by 50kHz.

Bluetooth Mode

Connecting to a Mobile Device

  1. Switch the device from standby using the "ON/OFF" button.
  2. Press the "MODE/TIME" button repeatedly until "bt" is shown on the display.
  3. The Bluetooth icon will flash on the LCD.
  4. On your mobile device, find "Sonoclock 3500 BT DAB+" in the available Bluetooth device list and connect.
  5. When connected, the Bluetooth icon will stop flashing.

Playback Control via Bluetooth

  1. Press "ON/OFF" to switch on the radio.
  2. Connect the Sonoclock 3500 BT DAB+ to your mobile device via Bluetooth.
  3. Press the "PRESET" button to toggle music playback between play and pause.
  4. Press the "TUNING -" button to skip to the previous song.
  5. Press the "TUNING +" button to skip to the next song.

Pairing Mode

  1. Press "ON/OFF" to switch on the radio.
  2. If the Sonoclock 3500 BT DAB+ is connected to a mobile device, press and hold the "PRESET" button to disconnect the current Bluetooth connection.
  3. The Sonoclock 3500 BT DAB+ will enter Bluetooth pairing mode with a flashing Bluetooth icon.
  4. Repeat the connection steps for a new Bluetooth connection.

Adjusting the Volume

Adjust the volume with "VOLUME -/AL 1" or "VOLUME +/AL 2" buttons.

Power Saving in Bluetooth

If there is no Bluetooth connection for 15 minutes, the Sonoclock 3500 BT DAB+ will switch to standby mode.

Timer Mode

Synchronizing Time from DAB or FM

  1. Switch the device from standby using "ON/OFF". Press and hold "MODE/MENU" for two seconds to activate menu settings.
  2. Press "TUNING +" or "TUNING -" to find 'SYSTEM', then press "SNOOZE/SLEEP/INFO/SELECT" to enter the system menu.
  3. Press "TUNING +" or "TUNING -" to find 'TIME', then press "SNOOZE/SLEEP/INFO/SELECT" to enter.
  4. Press "TUNING +" or "TUNING -" to find 'UPDATE', then press "SNOOZE/SLEEP/INFO/SELECT" to enter.
  5. Use "TUNING +" or "TUNING -" to choose the time source: 'ANY', 'DAB', 'FM', or 'NONE'. Press "SNOOZE/SLEEP/INFO/SELECT" to confirm.

Manual Set Time

  1. Follow steps 1 to 3 from 'Synchronizing Time'.
  2. Select 'SET TIME', then press "SNOOZE/SLEEP/INFO/SELECT" to enter manual time setting.
  3. Use "TUNING +" or "TUNING -" to select the desired time and date, and use "SNOOZE/SLEEP/INFO/SELECT" to confirm.

Set Time Display Format

  1. Follow steps 1 to 3 from 'Synchronizing Time'.
  2. Select 'SET FORMAT', then press "SNOOZE/SLEEP/INFO/SELECT" to enter the format setting.
  3. Use "TUNING +" or "TUNING -" to select '12' or '24', and use "SNOOZE/SLEEP/INFO/SELECT" to confirm.

Setting the Alarm Time

  1. Switch the device to standby with "ON/OFF".
  2. Press and hold "VOLUME -/AL 1" for alarm 1 or "VOLUME +/AL 2" for alarm 2.
  3. For example, press and hold "VOLUME -/AL 1" to enter alarm 1 setting menu, then press "SNOOZE/SLEEP/INFO/SELECT" to start setup.
  4. Choose 'ON' to activate or 'OFF' to deactivate the alarm, then press "SNOOZE/SLEEP/INFO/SELECT" to proceed.
  5. Use "TUNING +" or "TUNING -" to select the alarm time, and press "SNOOZE/SLEEP/INFO/SELECT" to proceed.
  6. Use "TUNING +" or "TUNING -" to choose from 'WEEKDAYS', 'WEEKENDS', 'DAILY', or 'ONCE'. Press "SNOOZE/SLEEP/INFO/SELECT" for the next settings.
  7. Note: If 'ONCE' is chosen, you must set the specific date.
  8. Use "TUNING +" or "TUNING -" to select the desired alarm source: 'DAB', 'FM', or 'BUZZER'. Press "SNOOZE/SLEEP/INFO/SELECT" to confirm.
  9. Note: If 'DAB' or 'FM' is chosen, select the preset station or the last listened station.
  10. Use "TUNING +" or "TUNING -" to select the desired alarm volume, then press "SNOOZE/SLEEP/INFO/SELECT" to confirm. The display will show 'SAVED'.

Notes: The device wakes you at the set alarm time; alarm duration is 60 minutes. The corresponding alarm icon will light up after activation.

Snooze the Alarm

  1. Press "SNOOZE/SLEEP/INFO/SELECT" while the alarm is sounding. The SNOOZE LED will light up.

Note: The alarm signal stops and sounds again after nine minutes.

Cancelling the Alarm

  1. Press "ON/OFF" while the alarm is sounding.

Note: The alarm will sound again at the next set time.

Activating and Deactivating the Alarm

In standby mode, press "VOLUME -/AL 1" or "VOLUME +/AL 2" to activate or deactivate the alarm with the last used settings.

Sleep Timer

  1. Press and hold the "SLEEP/SNOOZE/INFO/SELECT" button for about 2 seconds to activate the sleep timer.
  2. Repeatedly press "TUNING +" or "TUNING -" to select the auto switch-off timer (90 minutes down to 10 minutes). Press "SNOOZE/SLEEP/INFO/SELECT" to confirm.
  3. To switch off the sleep timer before the set time, press and hold "SNOOZE/SLEEP/INFO/SELECT" for about 2 seconds, then repeatedly press "TUNING +" or "TUNING -" until 'OFF' is displayed. Press "SNOOZE/SLEEP/INFO/SELECT" to confirm.

Brightness Settings

  1. Switch the device from standby using "ON/OFF". Press and hold "MODE/MENU" for two seconds to activate menu settings.
  2. Press "TUNING +" or "TUNING -" to find 'SYSTEM', then press "SNOOZE/SLEEP/INFO/SELECT" to enter the system menu.
  3. Press "TUNING +" or "TUNING -" to find 'DIMMER', then press "SNOOZE/SLEEP/INFO/SELECT" to enter.
  4. Choose 'NORMAL' for radio modes or 'STANDBY' for standby mode brightness.
  5. Press "TUNING +" or "TUNING -" to find the desired brightness level ('HIGH', 'MID', or 'LOW'), then press "SNOOZE/SLEEP/INFO/SELECT" to confirm.

Language Settings

  1. Switch the device from standby using "ON/OFF". Press and hold "MODE/MENU" for two seconds to activate menu settings.
  2. Press "TUNING +" or "TUNING -" to find 'SYSTEM', then press "SNOOZE/SLEEP/INFO/SELECT" to enter the system menu.
  3. Press "TUNING +" or "TUNING -" to find 'LANGUAGE', then press "SNOOZE/SLEEP/INFO/SELECT" to enter.
  4. Press "TUNING +" or "TUNING -" to find the desired language from the list, then press "SNOOZE/SLEEP/INFO/SELECT" to confirm.

Factory Reset

  1. Switch the device from standby using "ON/OFF". Press and hold "MODE/MENU" for two seconds to activate menu settings.
  2. Press "TUNING +" or "TUNING -" to find 'SYSTEM', then press "SNOOZE/SLEEP/INFO/SELECT" to enter the system menu.
  3. Press "TUNING +" or "TUNING -" to find 'FACTORY', then press "SNOOZE/SLEEP/INFO/SELECT" to enter.
  4. Press "SNOOZE/SLEEP/INFO/SELECT" to confirm resetting all settings to factory default.

Charging a Mobile Phone

The USB socket on the back provides 5V DC power for charging a mobile phone. Connect the mobile phone with an appropriate cable. USB power is available in all operating modes, including standby. Refer to your mobile phone's user manual or manufacturer to verify USB charging support. The USB socket is for DC power-out only and cannot be used for music playback from a USB stick.
