Setup and Safety
This device is designed for the playback of audio signals. Any other use is expressly prohibited.
- Protect the device from moisture (water drops or splashes). Do not place any vessels such as vases on the device. These may be knocked over and spill fluid on the electrical components, thus presenting a safety risk.
- Do not place any naked flames such as candles on the device.
- Note: Prolonged listening at loud volumes with earphones can damage your hearing.
- Do not expose the back-up battery to extreme heat, caused for example by direct sunlight, heaters or fire.
- Never open the device casing. No warranty claims are accepted for damage caused by incorrect handling.
- The type plate is located on the bottom of the device.

- Thunderstorms are a danger to all electrical devices. Even if the device is switched off, it can be damaged by a lightning strike to the mains cable. Always disconnect the mains cable during a storm.
- If malfunctions occur due to static electricity charges or brief mains voltage surges, reset the device. To do this, pull out the mains adapter and connect it again after a few seconds.
- Make sure the device is adequately ventilated. Do not cover the ventilation slots with newspapers, table cloths, curtains, etc.
- When deciding where to place the device, please note that furniture surfaces are covered by various types of varnish and plastic, most of which contain chemical additives. These additives can corrode the device supports, leaving residues on the furniture surfaces which can be difficult or impossible to remove.
- Only use the device in a moderate climate.
- Do not use any cleaning agent, as this may damage the casing. Clean the device with a clean, moist leather cloth.

Controls on the Top
- TUNING-/MIN: For tuning to radio stations. For setting the minutes (press briefly for step-by-step, hold down for continuous change).
- TUNING+/HR: For tuning to radio stations. For setting the hours (press briefly for step-by-step, hold down for continuous change).
- PRESET: For setting favorite radio stations.
- TIME: Press and hold to set the time.
- PLAY/PAUSE: Controls playback.
- MODE/MENU: Selects modes or menus.
- VOLUME -/AL 1: Adjusts volume down. Indicates that alarm setting 1 is activated.
- VOLUME +/AL 2: Adjusts volume up. Indicates that alarm setting 2 is activated.
- ON/OFF: Switches the device on or off.
- SLEEP: Activates the sleep timer. Press briefly to display current setting.
- SNOOZE: Interrupts the alarm function. Displays seconds.
- DIMMER: Switches the display between two brightness levels.

Display Indicators

Power Supply
Mains Operation
Ensure the mains voltage on the type plate (bottom of the device) matches your local supply. Plug the mains cable into the socket (230V~, 50/60 Hz).
Caution: The device is connected to the mains via the power plug. To fully disconnect, pull out the plug. The mains plug must remain readily operable and unobstructed during intended use.
Inserting the Back-up Battery
The back-up battery ensures stored settings are not lost during power failures or brief disconnections from the mains.
- Open the battery compartment lid by pressing on the arrow [opening arrow] and pushing down the lid.
- Insert 2 x 1.5V UM4 AAA batteries, observing polarity marked inside the compartment.
Note: Remove the back-up battery if it is flat or if the device will not be used for an extended period.
Environmental Note: Dispose of used batteries according to local environmental regulations. Do not dispose of batteries with household waste.
Settings
Setting Time and Day of the Week
When the device is first switched on, or after a power failure without a back-up battery, "0:00" appears, indicating time setting is required.
- Set the hours by pressing TUNING+/HR briefly (step-by-step) or holding down (continuous).
- Set the minutes by pressing TUNING-/MIN briefly (step-by-step) or holding down (continuous). The device saves the set time automatically after 10 seconds.
- To set the day of the week, press and hold TIME/MODE. The display will show the current day (e.g., "d1" for Monday).
- Use TUNING+/HR or TUNING-/MIN to select the day of the week (1=Monday, 7=Sunday). The device saves the selected day automatically after 5 seconds.
Setting Alarm Time 1
- Press and hold VOLUME -/AL 1. The last set alarm time will flash.
- Set the hours using TUNING+/HR (briefly or hold).
- Set the minutes using TUNING-/MIN (briefly or hold). The device saves the alarm time automatically after 10 seconds. The device will wake you with your chosen alarm signal.

- Press VOLUME +/AL 2 three times. The last set alarm time will flash.
- Set the hours using TUNING+/HR (briefly or hold).

Operation
Switching On and Off
- Press ON/OFF to switch the device on from standby mode.
- Press ON/OFF to switch the device to standby mode.
Radio Mode
For optimal FM reception, align the wire antenna.
Tuning to Radio Stations
- Press ON/OFF to set the radio station.
- Press TUNING+/HR or TUNING-/MIN until the desired frequency is reached. Each press changes the frequency by 100 kHz.
Saving Radio Stations on Program Places
You can save up to 10 radio stations.
- Tune to the desired radio station using TUNING+/HR or TUNING-/MIN.
- Press and hold PRESET.
- Select a program place using TUNING -/+ buttons.
- Confirm by pressing PRESET again.
Adjusting the Volume
Press VOLUME -/AL 1 or VOLUME +/AL 2 to adjust the volume.
Viewing the Alarm Time
Press VOLUME -/AL 1 (for alarm time 1) or VOLUME +/AL 2 (for alarm time 2) once. The set alarm time and the corresponding LED (AL 1 or AL 2) will be displayed. The display reverts to the current time after 10 seconds if no other button is pressed.
Alarm with Radio Station
- Press ON/OFF to switch on the device.
- Tune to the desired radio station using TUNING+/HR.
- Set the radio station as the alarm signal by pressing AL1 or AL2 twice. The corresponding LED (AL 1 or AL 2) will light up.
- Press ON/OFF to switch off the device. The device will wake you at the set time with the radio station for 59 minutes.
Alarm with Signal Tone
- Press ON/OFF to switch off the device.
- Set the signal tone as the alarm signal by pressing AL 1 or AL 2 once. The device will wake you at the set time with the signal tone for 59 minutes.
Interrupting the Alarm
Press SNOOZE while the alarm is sounding. The alarm stops temporarily and will resume every 9 minutes for a total duration of 59 minutes.
Cancelling the Alarm for the Day
Press ON/OFF while the alarm is sounding. The alarm stops, but remains set for the next day.
Timer Mode (Sleep Timer)
The sleep timer switches off the device in radio mode at a preset time (0 to 90 minutes).
Activating the Sleep Timer
- Press and hold SLEEP to switch on the device. The display shows "0:59" (for 59 minutes). You will hear the selected radio station.
- Set the desired switch-off time by pressing SLEEP briefly. The device switches off automatically after the set time.
- Display the remaining switch-off time by pressing and holding SLEEP.
Deactivating the Sleep Timer
To deactivate early, press ON/OFF. The device switches to standby.
Note: The device remembers the last set switch-off time for the next use.
Bluetooth Mode
Bluetooth Device Compatibility
The Sonoclock 2500 BT connects with Bluetooth devices supporting the A2DP profile, including most smartphones, laptops, and tablets.
Selecting the Input Source Bluetooth
Select the Bluetooth input source by pressing TIME/MODE. The display will show "BT" flashing.
Pairing a Bluetooth Device
- Activate the Bluetooth function on your Bluetooth device.
- Start the search function on your Bluetooth device. Your Grundig Sonoclock 2500 will appear in the list.
- Select "Grundig Sonoclock 2500" on your Bluetooth device and connect it.
- Once connected, the Sonoclock 2500 BT will display "BT".
Note: The Sonoclock 2500 BT can be paired with up to eight devices, but can only stream audio from one device at a time.
Connecting a Paired Bluetooth Device
Notes:
- Pairing is a one-time process.
- The devices will automatically connect when in range and Bluetooth is enabled. The Sonoclock 2500 BT connects to the last paired device.
- If automatic connection fails, navigate to the Bluetooth menu on your device and select the unit from the list.
Play Audio Signal from Your Bluetooth Device
- Start playback on the Bluetooth device.
- Adjust the volume using VOLUME - / +.
- End playback on the Bluetooth device.
Notes:
- Some functions may be controlled via the Sonoclock 2500 BT: use TUNING - for Play/Pause, TUNING + to resume playback, previous title, and next title.
- Wireless range can be up to 9 meters, depending on the Bluetooth device and environmental conditions.
Disconnecting the Bluetooth Device
Switch off the Bluetooth function on the Bluetooth device or long-press the PRESET button. The display will change to flashing "BT".
Reconnecting the Bluetooth Device
- If you move out of range or turn off the Bluetooth feature, the unit will disconnect.
- To reconnect, access the Bluetooth Manager on your device and select "Grundig Sonoclock 2500".
Note: If the registered Grundig Sonoclock 2500 cannot connect again, remove it from the Bluetooth device list, search, and connect again.
Automatic Shutdown
If Bluetooth is selected as the input source and no Bluetooth device is connected, the Sonoclock 2500 BT will automatically switch to standby mode after 15 minutes.
