U-PROX Tag: Contactless Active Identifier

The U-PROX Tag is a contactless active identifier designed for authorizing user access in control systems, operating in a "hands-free" mode. It features a built-in activation button.

Important Safety Information: RISK OF EXPLOSION IF BATTERY IS REPLACED BY AN INCORRECT TYPE. DISPOSE USED BATTERIES ACCORDING TO NATIONAL REGULATIONS. The U-PROX Tag is supplied in "ONLY BUTTON" mode.

Features

The U-PROX Tag functions exclusively with U-PROX SL and U-PROX SE readers, serving to transmit the user's ID.

Functional Parts of the Device

Diagram Description: A simple line drawing shows the U-PROX Tag from the side and front. The side view displays the button (1) and the case cover (2). The front view shows the button (1), the case cover (2), and the fastening strap (3) attached to the bottom.

Operating Modes

The U-PROX Tag operates in two distinct modes: "Button Only" and "Active ID and Button".

Button Only Mode

In this mode, the U-PROX Tag transmits its ID to the reader only when the button is pressed.

Active ID and Button Mode

In this mode, the U-PROX Tag periodically broadcasts information about itself and its readiness to interact with a reader every 0.9 seconds. Upon receiving this information, the reader calculates the distance to the U-PROX Tag. If the distance matches the configured setting and the reader has not yet interacted with this specific U-PROX Tag, data is exchanged. The reader then transmits the ID code received from the U-PROX Tag to the control panel. To interact with the reader again, the U-PROX Tag must either leave the reader's range or stop broadcasting for more than 6 seconds.

Switching Operating Modes

  1. Press and hold the button on the device until a red indicator appears.
  2. Briefly press the button on the device three times.
  3. The indicator will glow yellow if the device is in "Active ID and Button" mode.
  4. The indicator will glow green if the device is in "Button Only" mode.

Diagram Description: A sequence of images illustrates the mode switching. First, a hand presses the button on the tag, showing a red indicator around the button. Then, the tag is shown with yellow indicators around the edge, signifying "Active ID and Button" mode. Finally, the tag is shown with green indicators, signifying "Button Only" mode.

Using the U-PROX Tag

Readers support active mobile U-IDs PROX Tag and U-PROX Auto Tag devices.

Interaction with Readers in "Door" Mode (Button Press)

Approach the reader within a distance of 0.5-1 meter and press the button on the U-PROX Tag. Data will be exchanged, and the reader will transmit the ID code to the control panel. If the code meets the access rules, the control panel will grant access (e.g., unlock a door).

Interaction with Readers in "Barrier" Mode (Button Press)

Approach the reader within a distance of 3-12 meters (depending on reader settings) and press the button on the U-PROX Tag. Data exchange will occur, and the reader will transmit the ID code to the control panel. If the code complies with access rules, the control panel will grant passage (e.g., open a barrier).

Hands-Free Operation with "Door" Mode Readers

Approach the reader within a distance of 0.5-1 meter while carrying the U-PROX Tag. Data will be exchanged, and the reader will transmit the ID code to the control panel. Access will be granted if the code matches the access rules.

Hands-Free Operation with "Barrier" Mode Readers

Approach the reader within a distance of 3-12 meters (depending on reader settings) while carrying the U-PROX Tag. Data exchange will occur, and the reader will transmit the ID code to the control panel. Access will be granted if the code complies with access rules.

Registration in the Access Control System

Hold the U-PROX Tag to a desktop reader at a distance of 10-20 cm and press the button. The code will be read and transmitted to the access control system for registration.

Battery Replacement

To replace the U-PROX Tag battery, you will need a box cutter or a similar tool with a thin blade.

  1. Insert the blade of the knife into the gap between the top and bottom covers, on the side opposite to the strap. Carefully slide the blade around to open the latches holding the case together.
  2. Slide the bottom cover towards the strap and remove it.
  3. Replace the battery.

Diagram Description: Two images show the battery replacement process. The first image illustrates inserting a blade into the seam of the tag to open it. The second image shows the bottom cover being slid off to reveal the battery compartment.

Assembling the U-PROX Tag

  1. Secure the strap onto the pin on the top case cover.
  2. Place the board in line with the guides, with the battery facing upwards.
  3. Align the bottom case cover with the cut-out for the strap, maintaining a 1.5 mm offset.
  4. Press on the strap cover and slide it down. Gently push the cover down to close the U-PROX Tag.

Diagram Description: Three images depict the assembly process. The first shows the strap being attached to the top cover. The second illustrates placing the circuit board and battery into the bottom cover. The third shows the bottom cover being aligned and slid into place to close the tag.

Warranty

The warranty for U-PROX devices (excluding batteries) is valid for two years from the purchase date. If the device operates incorrectly, please contact support@u-prox.systems for potential remote troubleshooting.
