U-PROX SL maxi SmartLine Reader

The U-PROX SL maxi is an adjustable universal SmartLine reader with a wireless keypad, designed for mobile credentials and proximity identifiers. It enables the use of smartphones as access system credentials when used with the U-PROX ID application and mobile identifiers.

Installation

  1. Make a small recess or hole (diameter 14 mm) to connect the cable under the reader's case.
  2. Loosen the screw at the bottom of the reader.
  3. Remove the top cover.
  4. Carry out wiring to the control panel.
  5. Mount the reader on the wall using the supplied plastic dowels and screws.
  6. Place the top cover and tighten it with a screw.

Note on Installation: Installation on metal surfaces may decrease the reading range. To prevent interference, do not place readers closer than 20 cm from each other. If two readers need to be installed closer (10-15 cm apart), interconnect their yellow wires (Hold/Sync) to synchronize their operation, allowing them to work alternately.

Connection

The reader offers seamless and easy connection to existing and new access systems. It supports Wiegand interfaces (26, 32, 34, 37, 40, 42, 56, 58, 64, 80 bits) with automatic selection, RS-232, and TouchMemory supports.

It is recommended to use a multi-core signal cable with a 0.22 mm² cross-section for each wire between the reader and the panel.

Wiegand / RS-232 Wiring

The reader connection wires functions are listed in the table below:

Function English Spanish French Portuguese Ukrainian Polish
+12V red rojo rouge vermelho червоний czerwony
GND black negro noir preto чорний czarny
Data0 (WD0) green verde vert verde зелений zielony
Data1 (WD1) white blanco blanc branco білий biały

TouchMemory Wiring

The reader connection wires functions for TouchMemory are listed in the table below:

Function English Spanish French Portuguese Ukrainian Polish

Hold or sync yellow amarillo jaune amarelo жовтий żółty

It is recommended to use the following wiring when the reader is connected to the control panel with a twisted pair.

Configuration

The reader can be fully adjusted, from indication settings to encryption modes, using the free mobile application U-Prox Config.

Diagram: An icon representing the U-PROX Config application is displayed, featuring a gear symbol within a stylized 'U'.

The reader is supplied without a specified engineering password for programming. To connect and (re)set the password, connect the Do (green) and D1 (white) inputs together and then apply power to the reader.

Reader firmware can only be updated using an NFC-enabled Android smartphone.

Mobile Identification

The reader supports digital personal mobile credentials processed and stored in the user's smartphone via the U-PROX ID application. This data can be transferred between the reader and the smartphone using NFC and/or 2.4 GHz radio.

The reader also supports hardware active mobile identifiers such as U-PROX Tag and U-PROX Auto Tag.

For smartphones with U-Prox ID, the reader supports three operation modes:

Diagrams: Visuals depict different interaction scenarios: a smartphone near a reader (Door-Proximity), a smartphone at a door (Door), a smartphone interacting with a reader through a door (Door), a smartphone interacting with a reader (general), and a smartphone interacting with a reader at a gate barrier.

U-PROX ID application

The free mobile application U-PROX ID receives, stores, and transmits mobile credentials between the reader and the smartphone.

How to obtain mobile ID

Mobile IDs can be purchased from authorized dealers.

RFID, 125 kHz

The reader supports 125 kHz cards with amplitude modulation (ASK - EmMarine, etc.) and frequency modulation (FSK - Temik, etc.). While these cards lack cloning protection, they are popular due to their low cost.

Mifare® Identifiers

The reader is compatible with Mifare® cards. It reads encrypted identifiers using a user-assigned card number and a static or diversified encryption key. Up to five encryption profiles can be used simultaneously.

Mifare® Classic

This is the least secure series of cards, vulnerable to the Crypto 1 (SL1) encryption algorithm. It is recommended to encrypt all card sectors with a diversified encryption key when using Mifare® Classic.

Mifare® Plus

The reader supports SL1 and SL3 modes for Mifare® Plus. Using SL3 mode is recommended due to its higher security and the AES encryption algorithm.

Mifare® Defire

The reader supports Mifare DESFire EV1, EV2, and EV3 cards, with AES encryption algorithm support.

Warranty

The warranty for U-PROX devices (excluding batteries) is valid for two years from the date of purchase. If the device malfunctions, please contact support@u-prox.systems for potential remote troubleshooting.
