General Power Tool Safety Warnings
Work Area Safety
Keep your work area clean and well lit. Avoid cluttered or dark areas. Do not operate power tools in explosive atmospheres (presence of flammable liquids, gases, or dust) as sparks can ignite dust or fumes. Keep children and bystanders away to maintain focus.
Electrical Safety
Ensure power tool plugs match the outlet; never modify plugs. Avoid body contact with earthed surfaces. Keep tools away from rain or wet conditions. Do not abuse the cord; keep it away from heat, oil, sharp edges, or moving parts. Use outdoor-suitable extension cords when working outdoors. Use an RCD-protected supply in damp locations.
Personal Safety
Stay alert, use common sense, and do not operate when tired or under the influence of drugs, alcohol, or medication. Always wear eye protection and other appropriate personal protective equipment (dust mask, safety shoes, hard hat, hearing protection). Prevent unintentional starting by ensuring the switch is off before connecting to power or battery. Remove any adjusting key or wrench before turning the tool on. Maintain proper footing and balance. Dress properly; avoid loose clothing or jewellery. Keep hair and clothing away from moving parts. Use dust extraction facilities if provided. Do not become complacent; careless actions can lead to severe injury.
Safety Instructions for Screwdrivers
Hold the power tool by the insulated gripping surfaces when performing operations where a screw might contact hidden power lines. Contact with a live wire can energize exposed metal parts and cause electric shock.
