Try to keep the load from vibration and noise as low as possible. Example measures to reduce vibration load include wearing gloves when using the tool and limiting working time. All parts of the operating cycle must be considered (e.g., times when the power tool is switched off, and times when it is switched on but running without load).
Safety Instructions
General Safety Instructions for Power Tools
WARNING! Read all safety instructions, instructions, illustrations, and technical data provided with this power tool. Failure to follow the instructions below may result in electric shock, fire, and/or serious injury.
Keep all safety instructions and instructions for future reference.
The term "power tool" used in the safety instructions refers to mains-operated power tools (with a power cord) or battery-operated power tools (without a power cord).
Workplace safety
- a) Keep your work area clean and well-lit. Disorderly or unlit work areas can lead to accidents.
- b) Do not work with the power tool in explosive environments, where there are flammable liquids, gases, or dust. Power tools generate sparks that can ignite dust or vapors.
- c) Keep children and other persons away while using the power tool. Distraction can cause you to lose control of the power tool.
Electrical Safety
- a) The power tool's plug must match the socket. The plug must not be modified in any way. Do not use adapter plugs with earthed power tools. Unmodified plugs and matching sockets reduce the risk of electric shock.
- b) Avoid body contact with earthed surfaces such as pipes, heaters, stoves, and refrigerators. There is an increased risk of electric shock if your body is earthed.
- c) Keep power tools away from rain or moisture. Water entering a power tool increases the risk of electric shock.
- d) Do not misuse the power cord to carry, hang, or pull the plug out of the socket. Keep the power cord away from heat, oil, sharp edges, or moving parts. Damaged or tangled power cords increase the risk of electric shock.
- e) If you work with a power tool outdoors, only use extension cords that are also suitable for outdoor use. Using an extension cord suitable for outdoor use reduces the risk of electric shock.
- f) If operating the power tool in a damp environment cannot be avoided, use a residual current device (RCD). The use of an RCD reduces the risk of electric shock.
Safety of Persons
- a) Be attentive, pay attention to what you are doing, and use common sense when working with a power tool. Do not use a power tool if you are tired or under the influence of drugs, alcohol, or medication. A moment of inattention when using the power tool can lead to serious injuries.
- b) Wear personal protective equipment and always safety glasses. Wearing personal protective equipment such as a dust mask, non-slip safety shoes, safety helmet, or hearing protection, depending on the type and use of the power tool, reduces the risk of injury.
- c) Avoid unintentional starting. Ensure that the power tool is switched off before connecting it to the power supply and/or battery, picking it up, or carrying it. If you have your finger on the switch while carrying the power tool or connect the power tool to the power supply while it is switched on, this can lead to accidents.
- d) Remove any setting tools or wrenches before switching on the power tool. A tool or wrench that is located in a rotating part of the power tool can cause injuries.
- e) Avoid abnormal body posture. Ensure a secure footing and maintain your balance at all times. This will allow you to better control the power tool in unexpected situations.
- f) Wear suitable clothing. Do not wear loose clothing or jewelry. Keep hair and clothing away from moving parts. Loose clothing, jewelry, or long hair can be caught by moving parts.
- g) If dust extraction and collection devices can be fitted, they must be connected and used correctly. Using dust extraction can reduce hazards from dust.
- h) Do not lull yourself into a false sense of security and disregard the safety rules for power tools, even if you are familiar with the power tool after repeated use. Careless actions can lead to severe injuries in fractions of a second.
Use and Handling of the Power Tool
- a) Do not overload the power tool. Use the appropriate power tool for your work. Working with the correct power tool allows you to work better and safer within the specified performance range.
- b) Do not use a power tool with a defective switch. A power tool that can no longer be switched on or off is dangerous and must be repaired.
- c) Pull the plug out of the socket and/or remove the rechargeable battery before making any adjustments, changing accessories, or putting the power tool away. These precautionary measures prevent the unintentional starting of the power tool.
- d) Store unused power tools out of the reach of children. Do not allow persons who are not familiar with the power tool or who have not read these instructions to use the power tool. Power tools are dangerous when used by inexperienced persons.
- e) Maintain power tools and accessories with care. Check that moving parts function correctly and do not jam, whether parts are broken or damaged in such a way that the function of the power tool is impaired. Have damaged parts repaired before using the power tool. Many accidents are caused by poorly maintained power tools.
- f) Keep cutting tools sharp and clean. Well-maintained cutting tools with sharp cutting edges jam less and are easier to guide.
- g) Use the power tool, accessories, and bits according to these instructions. Take into account the working conditions and the task to be performed. Using power tools for applications other than those intended can lead to dangerous situations.
- h) Keep handles and gripping surfaces dry, clean, and free from oil and grease. Slippery handles and gripping surfaces do not allow safe operation and control of the power tool in unforeseen situations.
Use and Handling of the Battery Tool
- a) Only charge batteries with chargers recommended by the manufacturer. Using a charger suitable for a specific type of battery with other batteries poses a fire hazard.
- b) Only use the intended batteries in the power tools. Using other batteries can lead to injuries and fire hazards.
- c) Keep the unused battery away from paper clips, coins, keys, nails, screws, or other small metal objects that could cause a short circuit of the contacts. A short circuit between the battery contacts can cause burns or fire.
- d) If misused, liquid can leak from the battery. Avoid contact with it. If accidental contact occurs, rinse with water. If the liquid gets into your eyes, seek additional medical attention. Leaking battery fluid can cause skin irritation or burns.
- e) Do not use a damaged or modified battery. Damaged or modified batteries can behave unpredictably and lead to fire, explosion, or injury.
- f) Do not expose a battery to fire or excessively high temperatures. Fire or temperatures above 130 °C can cause an explosion.
- g) Follow all charging instructions and never charge the battery or battery tool outside the temperature range specified in the operating manual. Incorrect charging or charging outside the permitted temperature range can destroy the battery and increase the risk of fire.
CAUTION! EXPLOSION HAZARD! Never charge non-rechargeable batteries.
