Instrument Panel Overview
Instrument Panel Components
The instrument panel provides essential information about the vehicle's operation. The main components are:
- Tachometer: Displays engine speed in revolutions per minute (r/min).
- Clock: Shows the current time.
- Information Panel: Displays various vehicle messages and data.
- Outside Temperature: Indicates the ambient air temperature.
- Speedometer: Shows the vehicle's current speed.
- Fuel Gauge: Indicates the amount of fuel remaining in the tank.
- Odometer and Trip Meter: Displays the total distance traveled (odometer) and a resettable distance counter (trip meter).
- Gear Selector Position: Shows the current position of the gear selector (e.g., Park, Drive).
- Temperature Gauge: Indicates the engine coolant temperature.
Important Indicators and Warnings
Fuel Level Warning:
ℹ Do not allow the fuel tank to become completely empty. Doing so can cause misfires, which may seriously damage the catalytic converter.
If the low fuel warning light illuminates (orange indicator), refuel the vehicle immediately. The approximate distance that can be traveled on the remaining fuel can be checked using the trip computer (function "Distance to Empty"). Refer to page 61, TRIP COMPUTER.
To indicate the location of the fuel filler cap, a small arrow is shown next to the fuel pump symbol.
Engine Overheating Warning:
ℹ Driving with an overheated engine can lead to serious engine damage.
If the temperature gauge needle moves into the 'H' sector on the scale, it indicates that the engine is overheating. Stop the vehicle in a safe location and let the engine idle until the temperature decreases. If the temperature does not decrease after a few minutes, turn off the engine and allow it to cool. If the problem persists, consult a qualified specialist immediately.
Note: In case of engine overheating, you may notice a significant reduction in engine power, and the air conditioning may switch off. These are normal occurrences designed to reduce the load on the engine and aid cooling.
