Installation Steps
Remove the rear valance from your X3. The panel is mounted using five (T30) torx bolts, three along the top and two on the bottom.
Remove the four muffler springs (refer to Figure 1), using a spring puller is recommended. Remove the muffler by taking out the four mounting bolts (refer to Figures 2 and 3).

Description of Figure 2: View of the muffler mounting bolts on the vehicle's chassis.
Description of Figure 3: Another view of the muffler mounting hardware.
Locate and disconnect the O2 sensor wire from the wire harness.
Remove the O2 sensor (using a 22mm wrench) from the exhaust pipe. Pay close attention to the tip of the sensor to prevent damage or contamination.
Remove the two heat shield panels and clamps (using an 8mm socket) from the exhaust. These will be reinstalled later.
Loosen the v-band clamp (using an 11mm socket) connecting the exhaust to the turbo. This clamp can be accessed through the access panel in the cabin of the car.
To remove the exhaust pipe, slide it toward the front of the car, over the mount. Next, pivot the turbo side down until it is vertical. Finally, twist the entire exhaust pipe out of the shielding and remove from the vehicle. Follow the images below. NOTE: These images were taken with the rear cargo rack removed for better visual instruction; the rack can be left on when removing the exhaust pipe. (Refer to Figures 4-9).
Description of Figure 4: A photograph of the vehicle's turbocharger area. A red arrow points to a component near the turbo, likely related to the exhaust connection.
Description of Figure 5: Hands are shown manipulating the exhaust pipe during removal from the vehicle.
Description of Figure 6: Further detail of the exhaust pipe being maneuvered during removal.
Description of Figure 7: The exhaust pipe is shown being extracted from the vehicle's undercarriage.
Take off the OEM downpipe exhaust bracket and install the EVP Race Bypass downpipe bracket using the OEM bolts. (Refer to Figures 8 and 9).

Description of Figure 9: Image showing the EVP Race Bypass downpipe bracket being installed.
Insert the 3" Race Bypass pipe (following the removal steps in reverse) and loosely secure the v-band clamp, attaching the 3" Race Bypass pipe to the turbo with the exhaust gasket in place. It is recommended to apply anti-seize lubricant to the clamp nut.
Attach the heat shield panels and loosely secure with the original clamps on the turbocharger.
Install the O2 sensor on the 3” Magnus Race Bypass pipe with anti-seize lubricant applied to the threads. NOTE: Do not apply anti-seize to the tip of the sensor.
Install the 3” Magnus exhaust to the Race Bypass pipe and mount loosely using the (4) mounting bolts (13mm socket). Also install the Ball Socket clamp where both pipes meet. (Refer to Figure 9).
Description of Figure 9 (repeated): Close-up view of the connection point between the 3" Magnus exhaust and the Race Bypass pipe, secured by a ball socket clamp.
With the springs installed and all other mounts loosely in place, tighten the v-band clamp to 8 ft lb (97 in lb). Next, tighten the heat shield clamps. Finally, tighten the muffler mounting hardware.
If you have a bed delete, the rear valence will not go back on the car.
