The R45w-30 supports Lenovo Accessories and Display Manager* - Artery (*Formerly Lenovo Display Control Center).

Adjustment Type
Tilt: The tilt range is approximately -5° to 22°.
Swivel: The monitor can be swiveled for comfortable viewing angles, typically -30° to 30°.
Height Adjustment: The monitor offers a height adjustment of up to 135mm.
Monitor Controls
The monitor features keypad controls on the panel frame for accessing various functions. Refer to page 2-2 for details on using these controls.

Setting Up Your Monitor
Connecting and Turning On Your Monitor:
Before proceeding, read the Safety Information on page iii.
- Power off your computer and attached devices, then unplug the computer power cord.
- Connect cables as indicated by icons. The monitor features the following connectors: 1 x Power, 2 x HDMI 2.1, 1 x DisplayPort 1.4, 1 x USB-C 3.2 Gen 1 (upstream), 1 x USB-B 3.2 Gen 1 (upstream), 1 x RJ-45 (10M/100M/1G/2.5G), 3 x USB-A 3.2 Gen1 (downstream), 1 x Audio Out.
- Connect the HDMI cable from the monitor to the computer. Lenovo recommends the "Lenovo HDMI to HDMI Cable OB47070" for HDMI 2.1 input. Visit www.lenovo.com/support/monitoraccessories.
- Connect the DP cable from the monitor to the computer. Lenovo recommends the "Lenovo DisplayPort to DisplayPort cable 0A36537" for DP connections. Visit www.lenovo.com/support/monitoraccessories.
- Connect the USB Type-C cable from the monitor to the computer. The USB Type-C port supports data, video, and power transmission (up to 75W), provided the host device supports DisplayPort Alt mode.
- Connect a USB cable from the monitor's upstream terminal to your computer's USB port.
- Connect a USB cable from the monitor's downstream terminal to your device's USB port. Note: USB downstream ports do not provide power when the monitor is off. Power output for USB-A is 5V/0.9A.
- Connect audio cables for audio source transfer via DP, USB-C, or HDMI. Note: Excessive sound pressure from headphones can cause hearing damage.
- Plug the power cord into the monitor and then into a grounded power outlet. Use a certified power supply cord compliant with relevant IEC standards.
- Connect the network cable to the monitor's Ethernet interface and the router.
- Connect cables using the provided cable clip.
- Power on the monitor and the computer.
- Install the monitor driver by downloading it from https://pcsupport.lenovo.com/solutions/r45w_30. Refer to page 3-5 for manual installation steps.
PBP (Picture-by-Picture) and PIP (Picture-in-Picture)
These functions allow displaying two different video sources simultaneously. PBP offers a 5:5 layout with resolutions up to 2560x1440@165Hz (HDMI 2.1, DP, USB-C) or 2560x1440@144Hz (HDMI 2.0). PIP allows a foreground sub-screen that can be placed in various positions.
True Split
This feature allows connecting multiple PCs and extending the display. Connect via USB-C or DisplayPort, enable True Split in OSD, and configure display modes in Windows (e.g., Extend mode via Win + P).
KVM
The built-in KVM Switch enables operating two connected computers. The hotkey for KVM is located on a front bezel button. After activation, USB devices and input sources switch automatically or manually via the menu key.
Network
The monitor supports stable internet access via its 2.5G Ethernet port, USB-B port (with USB A-B cable), or USB-C port. It supports PXE boot, MAC address pass through (MAPT), and Wake on LAN (WoL) for selected ThinkPad models. Download the "Dragon" software for Ethernet optimization.
Best Resolution
For optimal experience, set resolutions according to the tables provided, considering PC and monitor OSD settings for HDMI, DP, and USB-C connections. Refer to tables for specific resolution and refresh rate compatibility.

Positioning Your Monitor
Adjust the monitor for comfortable viewing:
- Viewing Distance: Recommended distance is 1.5 times the screen diagonal.
- Monitor Height: Position the top of the screen at or slightly below eye-level for a neutral neck posture.
- Tilt: Adjust tilt for optimal screen content appearance and neck comfort.
- General Location: Position to avoid glare from lighting or windows.
Additional tips include using adequate lighting, adjusting brightness/contrast, and keeping the screen clean. Periodically look away at a far object to relax eye muscles.

Using On-Screen Display (OSD) Controls
Access and adjust settings via the OSD menu using the control buttons. You can navigate menus, select functions, make adjustments, and save settings. The OSD can be locked/unlocked by holding the power button for 10 seconds.
OSD Functions Overview
The OSD provides various settings categorized under Game Settings, Screen Settings, Color Settings, Port Settings, and Menu Settings. These include Game Mode presets, Over Drive, MPRT, AdaptiveSync, FreeSync Premium Pro, Over Clock, Brightness, Contrast, HDR, Scaling Mode, Color Temp, Input Signal selection, True Split, PIP/PBP, KVM settings, USB options, DP/HDMI select, Mirrored Power Button, Language, Volume, and OSD Timeout settings.
Selecting a Supported Display Mode
Display modes are controlled by the computer. Refer to your computer's documentation. The monitor supports various resolutions and refresh rates, optimized at the factory. For example, 2560x1440 supports up to 165Hz, and 5120x1440 supports up to 165Hz, with an overclock option to 170Hz.
Understanding Power Management
The monitor enters power management states (Standby/Suspend, Off) when inactive. The power indicator changes color (White for On, Orange for Standby/Suspend, Off for Off). Restoring operation involves pressing a key or moving the mouse.

Caring for Your Monitor
Do not: Apply water/liquid directly, use solvents/abrasives, use flammable cleaning materials, touch the screen with sharp items, or use cleaners with anti-static solutions.
Do: Use a lightly dampened soft cloth for cleaning. Remove grease/finger marks with a damp cloth and mild detergent.
Detaching the Monitor Base and Stand
Place the monitor on a soft surface and remove screws from the base before detaching.

Manually Installing the Monitor Driver
For Windows 10/11: Turn off devices, ensure monitor connection, turn on system. Download driver from https://pcsupport.lenovo.com/solutions/r45w_30. Use Device Manager, browse to the downloaded driver folder (e.g., X:\Monitor Drivers\Windows), select R45w_30.inf, and follow prompts. Restart the system after installation.
