Product Overview
The VOCOlinc Smart Contact Sensor (VS1) allows users to monitor the status of doors, windows, cabinets, or safety gates. It integrates with Apple's HomeKit platform, enabling users to check the status via Siri or iOS devices. The VS1 provides real-time notifications for any changes in the status of monitored openings and can be used to trigger home automations, such as turning on a humidifier when a window is opened.
The sensor utilizes Bluetooth low energy (BLE) technology and is powered by a replaceable CR2032 battery, offering up to 6 months of battery life. Setup is designed to be quick and easy, enhancing home safety.
Note: For remote access and notifications when away from home, an Apple TV (4th generation or above), HomePod, or a compatible iPad is required to function as a Home Hub. The VS1 is exclusively compatible with Apple HomeKit.

Installation Guide
Follow these steps for installation:
Open the battery cover located on the back of the contact sensor using tools. Insert the button battery (CR2032) into the contact sensor. Refer to the "Pairing" section to begin the pairing process.
Diagram Description: Illustrations show the battery compartment of the main sensor being opened and a CR2032 button battery being inserted. The two sensor states, "Closed" and "Open", are depicted conceptually.
After pairing is complete, test the sensor by moving the two pieces close to and apart from each other. The LED should light up each time. If it functions correctly, remove the protective film from the adhesive backing and stick the two parts to the relevant surfaces.
Diagram Description: An illustration shows a hand peeling off the protective film from the adhesive side of the main sensor unit, preparing it for mounting.
During installation, ensure the dot marker on each of the two pieces is aligned correctly. Also, verify that the gap between the two halves is less than 20mm when the door or window is closed. Spacers can be used to level the two pieces if necessary.

Important Tips
- Install the contact sensor part onto the fixed, non-moving section of the door or window (e.g., the door frame). Place the magnet piece on the moving part (e.g., the door itself). The surfaces where the sensor and magnet will be attached must be smooth for proper adhesion.
- To receive real-time notifications regardless of your location, an Apple TV (4th generation or above), HomePod, or a suitable iPad is required to function as a Home Hub. The VS1 is exclusively compatible with Apple HomeKit.
