Introduction
DigiTech is a recognized leader in the guitar signal processing industry. The Multi Chorus pedal represents a significant advancement in chorus effect technology, built upon the company's expertise. It features DigiTech's proprietary AudioDNA™ processor, making it the only pedal capable of producing up to 16 independent voices of interactive chorusing. This results in a rich, modulated sound that rivals high-end pedal and rack chorus units.
Controls and Jacks
The DigiTech Multi Chorus pedal features several controls and connection points:
Controls:
- Level Knob: Adjusts the output level of the effect. Clockwise increases the level, counter-clockwise decreases it.
- Speed Knob: Controls the rate of the chorus modulation. Clockwise increases the rate, counter-clockwise decreases it.
- Depth Knob: Controls the depth of the chorus effect. Clockwise creates a thicker chorus sound, while counter-clockwise produces a shallower, lighter sound.
- Voice Knob: Determines the number of chorus voices used. At its minimum, a single voice is present. Turning clockwise introduces more voices, up to 16 interacting voices at the maximum setting.
- Pedal: The footswitch used to turn the effect on and off.
Jacks:
- AC Adapter Jack: For connecting a DigiTech PS200R power supply. Ensure the supply matches your local mains voltage.
- Input Jack: Connect your instrument (e.g., guitar) here. Connecting a guitar cable also supplies power to the pedal, even if the Indicator LED is not lit. Disconnect cables when not in use to conserve battery life.
- Out 1 (Mono) Jack: Use this output when connecting to a single amplifier.
- Out 2 Jack: Connect this output to a second amplifier for true stereo chorusing, providing a more immersive experience.
- Indicator LED: Illuminates when the effect is active. If the LED appears dim or does not light when connected, the battery may need replacement.
Pedal Mechanism:
- Pedal Release Pins: These spring-loaded pins secure the pedal chassis. Pushing them allows the pedal to be released, exposing the battery compartment.
Connections and Cabinet Modeling
The Multi Chorus features a single input and two outputs (Out 1 for mono, Out 2 for stereo). For stereo operation, connect Out 1 to the first amplifier and Out 2 to the second.
The pedal also includes built-in CIT™ Cabinet Modeling. This feature is useful for achieving an amp-like distortion sound when running a distortion pedal into the Multi Chorus and then connecting directly to a mixer or recorder, bypassing a traditional guitar amplifier.
To Enable CIT™ Cabinet Modeling:
Press the pedal down and apply power. This can be done by connecting a guitar cable to the input jack or by connecting the PS200R power supply to the AC adapter jack. CIT™ cabinet modeling must be re-enabled each time power is applied to the pedal.
Diagram Description (Connections): An illustration shows a guitar connected via a cable to the input jack of the DigiTech Multi Chorus pedal. The pedal has two output jacks, Out 1 and Out 2, each connected by separate cables to two separate amplifiers, labeled "AMPLIFIER". An optional PS200R power supply is shown connected to the AC adapter jack.
Battery Replacement
To replace the battery:
- Using the tip of a 1/4" guitar cable, push one of the release pins on the side of the pedal to detach the pedal from the chassis.
- Remove the old battery from the compartment and disconnect its cable.
- Connect a new battery to the cable and place it in the compartment, ensuring the battery cable does not obstruct the spring or pedal switch arm.
- Align one hole of the pedal with its corresponding pin on the chassis.
- Push the opposite pin inward and lower the other side of the pedal into place over the depressed pin. Release the pin. The pedal is properly secured when both release pins are flush with the outer side of the pedal.
Diagram Description (Battery Replacement): An exploded view shows the pedal detached from the chassis. The chassis reveals a battery compartment containing a 9V DC battery. Labels point to the "Pedal", "Pedal Switch Arm", "9V DC Battery", "Pedal Chassis", "Spring", "Pedal Release Pin", and "Battery Compartment".
