Installation Instructions
Important Notes Before Starting:
- Consult your vehicle's owner's manual or dealer for the maximum permissible towing mass.
- When drilling, exercise caution to avoid damaging any brake lines, electrical wiring, or fuel lines.
- Remove any bitumen coating or sound-deadening material from the areas where the tow bar will be mounted.
- Begin by disassembling the rear bumper and removing the buffer beam. Loosen the exhaust system at the rear and remove the inner lining from the trunk compartment.
- Attach the mounting pieces labeled (-j) to the bolts that secured the original buffer beam. Simultaneously, attach mounting pieces (-h) and (-i) using their designated points (A) to these same bolts, but do not tighten them yet. Ensure that points (B) on mounting pieces (-h) and (-i) align with the larger pre-drilled holes in the rear body panel. These holes are typically sealed with rubber grommets; these grommets should be removed.
- Inside the trunk, position mounting pieces (-k) and (-n) using their points (B) at the provided drillings. Align point (C) with the indentation present in the trunk floor. Remove any bitumen coating from this specific location. Drill through this area using a 10.5mm drill bit, then enlarge the holes to 22mm to allow the insertion of the provided tubes.
- On the underside of the vehicle's chassis, enlarge the designated drilling to 10.5mm. Insert the corresponding bolts but do not tighten them at this stage.
- Now, place mounting pieces (-l) and (-m) against the underside of the chassis. Align point (C) of these pieces with the bolts previously inserted for pieces (-k) and (-n). Align point (D) with the provided drillings in the chassis. Insert the tubes and washers through the holes in the trunk.
- Position the tow bar assembly, using points (E) and (F), between the mounted pieces (-l) and (-m). Insert the required bolts and washers, and then tighten all fasteners securely according to the specified torque values.
- Make a precise cut in the rear bumper following the provided sketch. Reinstall the bumper onto the vehicle.
- Ensure all components marked with an asterisk (*) are correctly mounted and securely tightened.
Bumper Cut-out Diagram Description
A specific cut is required in the rear bumper to correctly fit the tow bar. The diagram illustrates the area to be modified:
- The hatched area indicates the section of the bumper that needs to be cut away.
- 'B' designates the bumper itself.
- 'O' indicates the lower edge or rim of the bumper.
- 'M' marks the center line of the bumper.
